I’ve found that gyms are inconvenient, classes are impractical, and joining a sports team is unlikely. After all, in order to do any of those things, I’d probably have to get a sitter and spend extra money.
Enter my new fitness solution! I’m training to run a 5K.
Wait! Before you stop reading and discount me as a fitness buff who doesn’t relate, I have to tell you that I’ve never been a runner. It’s not my cup of tea. I run like a girl and my cardiovascular strength is pretty pathetic compared to many experienced runners.
But, the free 5K plan through Health Magazine’s Girls Gotta Move program is perfect! There are two tracks – one for people who want to run their “first” 5K (that’s me!), and one for people who want to run their “fastest” 5K.
I’ve been following the plan for 2.5 weeks now – and it’s going great! Best of all, it only requires running shoes and attire…(and a jogging stroller if you want to bring your baby along like I do).
I’m actually getting to the point where I like it on most days. I may even get addicted to this running thing, after all.
