Working Mom Wednesday: Smead

February 28, 2008 By Stephanie 196 Comments

Whether you work part time or full time for someone else, part time or full time for yourself, or at home as a SAHM, being organized will help you in your plight toward achieving peace and productivity in your life.

One important way to do that is to conquer the piles of paperwork in your home. Smead can help you get to where you want to be. Smead “has been dedicated to finding innovative ways to help you get organized for over 100 years.” For example, you can buy filing products, shelving and storage, and software to assist you in creating your own home filing system.

My personal filing system is actually made up almost completely of Smead products. I have 12 different categories (Bills, Taxes, Education, Legal Documents, Insurance Policies, etc.) of color-coded file folders that hang in matching hanging folders. [If you’re “going green,” you can buy products made of 100% recycled materials.]

Smead is consistently coming out with new products to accommodate the needs of its customers and they love hearing customer feedback. Right now, you can join Club Organomics for ideas to help you stay organized. You can also read “advice from organizational experts and download a free e-book called “100 Ideas for Better Organization“on the Smead website.

Want to find Smead products? They’re available at most office supply stores (think: Office Depot and OfficeMax), but you can search for a retailer near you on the Smead website. NOTE: Smead products are not available directly on Smead.com.

WIN IT! One mama will receive a Weekly Organizer from Smead, a new product designed to help you “keep your schedule, agenda and notes at your fingertips.” To enter, simply leave a comment and your e-mail address on this post prior to Monday, March 3. The winner will be announced and contacted on Tuesday, March 4. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

* UPDATE * The winner is #167 jaydonco1. Congratulations!

NOTE: Are you just starting up a filing system? If you’re not an organized type by nature or if you need a ready-made system that you can start today, I recommend checking out the MyVitalFiles system. If, however, you want a more elaborate or tailored system that you can create yourself, Smead is probably the way to go.

Asheville’s reputation is nothing short of sparkling. Every time we told someone we were going there, people said, “Oh, you’re going to love it!” And we did. The terrain is lovely – there are towering trees and beautiful hiking/running trails in every direction. Aside from volunteering with a number of great organizations, we also toured […]
