A Pot That Keeps Your Coffee Hot

coffee shopIf you were a coffee shop kinda gal pre-baby, then you probably experienced a rather abrupt wake-up call after your sweet little bundle entered the picture.

After all, coffee shops aren't quite as appealing with a babe in arms. It's just not as convenient to pack up your baby, drive to the nearest coffee shop, wait in line, and spend that precious four dollars and fifty cents. That drive requires time AND it requires you to change out of your pajamas.

So, if you're like most moms, you turned to your good 'ol friend - the coffeemaker - after baby debuted. You rejected that Starbucks sign and stayed in with your little spitter-upper.

If you're currently in the market for a coffeemaker, I highly recommend Cuisinart's Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker ($199). It's stylish, sleek, multifunctional, and -most importantly - it makes really good coffee.

The pot features a burr grinder (better than a blade grinder, I've heard), a thermal carafe (to keep your coffee hot and fresh for hours), and an automatic timer (you can set it the night before so your cup is ready right when you want it). It's easy-to-use and eliminates the need for a separate grinder altogether.

If you're a coffee drinker, you don't have to mourn the loss of coffee shop stops. Just make a cup of joe at home and savor the quietude of home...and the comfort of your pajamas.

YOUR TURN: If you're a coffee drinker, do you make coffee at home...or do you stop in at shops throughout the week?

  1. I wish I had the money back at the end of every year that I know I've spent at Starbucks and Panera Bread for my fru fru drinks...

  2. My hubby is the coffee drinker. He has gradually moved from coffee out every weekday to homemade coffee everyday, at my prompting. I was trying to save us some $$. He still likes coffee out once in a while and I think he enjoys is more then as well.

  3. I make my coffee at home, we actually use a really basic coffee maker and it works fine, although it is definitely reaching its last legs. I am a firm believer in good coffee.

  4. Uck. You know I can't stand coffee. But we have a coffee maker just for when company comes. :) I do love hot chocolate, though, so I'll occasionally stop in at a coffee shop for a special treat of hot chocolate or hot cider. Yum!

  5. I make coffee at home. And I wish I had purchased my pot post-children because I would have gotten one of these thermal carafe types so that it wouldn't taste burnt after sitting on the hot plate for a couple of hours.

I do get a specialty coffee now and then - a once a month or so treat. But it is always drive thru these days.

  6. I typically make my coffee at home. Then carry it with me everywhere. There is one local coffee shop that will have a Tiramisu flavored coffee that is out of this world, I try to grab a cup there when they have it, but it's hit or miss.

  7. I have to agree that Cuisinart makes the best coffee makers! My husband and I are coffee snobs so we did a ton of research before we put the kind we wanted on our Christmas list and received the gift from my mom. Although it was more expensive than other makers it ended up saving us money in the long run because the coffee was so good so therefore we needn't buy any from the coffee shops.

However, we have the model without the grinder. We still grind our own beans in a separate grinder but it would be wonderful to have an all-in-one unit. Thanks for the chance to win!

  8. I make my coffee at home. Every now and then we'll stop in at a coffee shop (usually so that I can meet with a client) and I always enjoy the treat, but the coffee I make at home is good too!

  9. We make coffee at home. For a long time, we would hit up Starbucks however the calories in those were enough to make me stop not to mention the price. Every once in a while we'll get some Starbucks but home brewed coffee is good for me.

We have a Cuisinart but not the one that grinds. That looks cool.

  10. had the version before this -- only lasted about 18 months, hope they have improved. was the best fresh ground coffee . . .
