A Sweet Summer Memory and A Cold One for The (Pregnant) Lady

I looked at the display in my car's dashboard today and "100" greeted me. 100 degrees, that is (not 100 miles lest you were thinking I'm a crazy driver).

A Sweet Summer Memory and A Cold One for The (Pregnant) Lady 1It's summer, I thought. So my daughter and I pulled over to Baskin Robbins and shared a strawberry ice cream cone. It was a moment that I would like to hold on to forever. There she was - perched on an adult-sized chair holding a perfect strawberry ice cream scoop atop a sugar cone, kicking her legs and bobbing her head along to the music. She'd lick the ice cream cone and then thrust it in my direction and smile. That pink smile. That lovely little strawberry smile combined with her button nose, her blue eyes, her messy blonde hair. Absolutely unforgettable.

Summer is a great time for ice cream. It's also a wonderful time for cold drinks - pina coladas, sangria, and margaritas. If you're pregnant, however, or if you just don't like the taste of that bootleggin' stuff (which, actually describes me pretty accurately - most of the time), you can still enjoy alcohol-free treats that are equally enticing.

  18. These recipes sound liek so much fun to amke and enjoy. And my pregnant daughternlaw would love it.

  19. Oh man. I totally want this. Normally I'm not a giant fan of the taste as alcohol so most of the time I prefer a nonalcoholic girly drink. I'd love to find out how to make some good ones at home. So fun! (And BTW, I give a poo about you, so don't pay attention to grumpy pants #11.) :)

  20. This is a fun book! Since there's two girls in our group that are pregnant, and two trying, this will certainly come in handy this summer.

  21. I love the idea of a collection of non-alcoholic FUN drinks. Several friends don't drink, and the kids are always amused by a "foo-foo" drink, so this book would come in handy.

  22. What an awesome book! I'm not pregnant anymore, but am breastfeeding my 3 month old. So this would be perfect! I like that I can also share with the other kids.

  23. This would be great for my friend Stormy! She's expecting in September. This would give her something to drink at Summer barbacues and at her baby shower! Great contest and I hope I can win this for her!!

  25. I bet I can find some great recipes to share with all my mama friends (most of whom are nursing or pregnant). It would be so fun to have a mocktail when we all meetup together.

  26. This would be so great! It's always so hard to come with good alcohol free beverages for parties.

  27. mocktails aren't just for preggy mommy. sympathetic hubby can always share frozen non alcoholic drinks on these hot summer days

  28. What a cool prize! Many of my friends don't drink, and I love virgin Margaritas. What a fun book to have for the summer so that I can prepare non alcoholic delights for my friends so that they feel refreshed!!

Stay cool everyone--it's really hot here in the East Coast.

CHEERS all. (raises a toast to y'all with a virgin margarita in hand!)

  29. What a great idea. These non-alcoholic drink would be great for kids, too. Want to try the Watermelon Margarita.

  30. To Commentor Richard M. - those who aren't interested enough in a site's content to post a related comment should not be frequenting the site and don't deserve to win any contests.

  31. Stephanie, you got me all excited again with this title, thinking, "YAYYYYYYYYY! Is Stephanie pregnant!?!?!?!" I guess not...at least not confessing to it anyways... ;) This does look like a fun little book, even for us non-preggos.

  32. Contests used to be about typing in your address and then you waited. Now they want you to post a comment so that it looks like people give a damn about their site. In essence this is a betrayal. Who gives a poo about metromama? What a farce that you have to post a comment you don’t really want to post to have a chance to win something.

  33. Great contest, this is perfect for me since I don't drink alcohol but love the taste of mixed drinks! Smoothies are the best invention to man, in my opinion. Thanks!

  34. mmm...frozen drinks and a hammock?
well, frozen drinks and backyard play would be nicer! I don't care for alcoholic drinks because one teeny drink and I'm on the couch napping and there is no time for naps here!

  35. That is so cute. Most of my friends are in the age of getting pregnant and I would love to start surprising them with one or more of these drinks.

My best girl is due in July, and I'm sure she'd love one of these to help her cool down

  36. I would use this all year round in Arizona! I'm always looking for fun new non-alcoholic drinks to mix up at home in my blender. Would love to win!
