Are you braver than I am?

Are you braver than I am? 1To conclude this "Girl Stuff" series, I'm going to write about the new Bliss-Phillips Bikini Perfect Deluxe at-home grooming system. It's the easy way to remove unwanted hair "down there" without having to go to a salon.

I originally was a bit intimidated by the various parts and the long directions on crinkly paper, but - when I just dove right in - I found it to be simple and painless. I have to admit that I skipped the epilator part (I'm not a big fan of self-inflicted agony...especially for an area that no one will see besides my husband. I'm not that brave.), but I used the other attachments with ease.

The best part, however, was the "after" part. With a normal razor, you might end up with bumps, discomfort, redness, or - worst of all - itchiness. But with the Bliss-Phillips Bikini Perfect Deluxe kit, I experienced none of those reactions.

So if you want to tame the mane, this system isn't lame. It's almost 11 and this review is getting out of hand. My sisters are here and they're making me crack up and so I think I'll leave my review at that.

You can purchase the Bikini Perfect system on Amazon.com or Drugstore.com for $59.99.

WIN IT! One winner will receive a Bliss-Phillips Bikini Perfect Deluxe Spa Edition system. To enter, leave a comment on this post prior to Tuesday, June 17 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winner is #356 Kathy Conley. Congratulations!

  1. I will not go into detail... but I would really like to win this one! Thanks for the chance to win!

  2. You know, I have actually been shopping for a new product to use "down there" ^_^ I'm so tired of razor burn and the hair coming right back :( I've been looking at in-home waxing kits, but this looks sooo much easier to use and gentler to that area. Especially since you give it a good review, I'm going to strongly consider trying it. Thanks for the chance!

  3. I would love to win this system. It looks great and would help me out so much. This is a great giveaway. Thanks.

  4. I would love to try this. Thanks for having it my friends called me Miranda after we saw Sex in the City.

  5. Shaving is no fun and often leaves bumps, and waxing is just so painful! This seems like it would do the trick with ease and without pain. I would definitely love to try this product.

  6. I'd give it a try. I hate shaving down there and this system might be the answer to keeping neat and tidy.

  7. I saw this in the store and so wanted to try it, so I guess I would consider myself braver than you... LOL! Just not brave enough to buy it with my daughter beside me since she's 9 and full of questions that usually come up right in front of the cashier! LOL! I would love to try this so thanks for the contest and the chance to win (and be brave)

  8. I could use to be groomed up a bit. But I would like to do it myself, not at the spa. :) Thanks for the great giveaway!

  9. I'm always looking for a better/easier way to be smooth "down here". I can't seem to be brave enough to get waxed.

  10. Whether I am braver than you are or not is debatable but I use the Gently Gold now- I cannot stand stubble. It is not perfect, however, and misses some of the finer hairs, and I am in search of the perfect hair removal system. It is very difficult to get the bikini area with the Gently Gold, so- I would love to try this- and I would use the epilator and tell you how it went. ;)

  11. Sounds like a great product. How great to have no more bumps, itchies & all the rest that comes with bikini area shaving.

  13. This is definitely something I'd like to try. I'm a brave girl. If I don't win, I'll be adding this to my amazon wishlist! :)

  14. OH my goodness, you are a POET and we did not even know it! Check you out Dr. Seuss on the lose! LOL! Yes, I could use one of these too. Right now I just use my razor in the tub, nothing fancy. This sounds much better.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  15. Oh boy this is something i do need im so sensitive on my bikini line i break out in a rash and am to afraid to wax so whats a women to do!

  16. Ah yes -- everyone should be able to groom themselves tear free I say! Especially me, so I hope I win, lol!

  17. Not even sure how to comment on this one, but I've tried everything except laser hair removal! Whatever works! :)

  18. I get so tired of rashes and bumps and my skin always seems to be left feeling irritated. I would love to win the Bliss Bikini Perfect and take away my bikini zone pains!

  19. i'm always looking for a way to not look scaly, itchy or red when I am at the pool with my girls!

  20. OMG this is what I have been looking for. I go to the pool with the boys and shave and shave and shave. And it itches and itches and itches and then those horrible ingrown hairs!!! I even tried getting rid of it all. That was a big itchy horrible mess. Plus those extra unwanted hairs at the top of my legs and around my belly button and boobs (after effects of having kids) This would get rid of it all. Perfect!!

  21. I'm not all that brave when it comes to this stuff, but I'd sure try it if it meant a little relief, lol.

    jenny

  22. Wow I don't ever shave down there because I have been scared I will cut myself, My husband would be so suprised if I had one of these, Hmmm maybe this would be just the thing we both need to spark up our marriage.

  23. There are tons of things on the market that say easy and painless, but that's not true. It is nice to get a review from someone that has used the product. Sign me up!
    Thanks

  24. I would love to try this! When I read the part about this being the "easy" was to remove hair down thier I was sold. Us poor woman put ourselves through hell sometimes to look great, I prefer the "easy" way!

  25. This sounds cool. I'm into "Girly Things" and I love to try new things. Thanks for sponsoring this contest. Good Luck everyone.

  26. Oh, I dare! I will do it. I have used (successfully) something less than a "system." This might be closer to pleasant. Thanks!

  27. I'm not usually brave in that manner, but this system sounds like it really might work. I'd love to try it and see for myself :) *Thanks* for the giveaway!

  28. I would love to win this! It sounds like everything I've been looking for in a "groomer". Especially with bathing suit season coming up. And this is a win my husband would appreciate too. :) Thanks for the giveaway!

  29. I would be very interested to see if using the Bliss-Phillips Bikini Perfect Deluxe would be as effective as the salon waxing. This way at least you aren't flashing your crotch to another woman. That always makes me feel a bit strange.

  30. *L* sounds like your sisters keep things fun! I am soooo intimidated that this sounds like a fantastic alternative!

  31. Hi, not sure if I am braver, but I am always looking for something simple to use and that causes no itching/bumps down there! This sounds great so far.. :)

  32. I would love to tame the mame and this is the first time I am seeing this set . Nice set ,I would love to win, count me in

  33. This beach-loving Greek girl would really benefit from the Bliss-Phillips Bikini Perfect Deluxe system! Thanks!

  34. I would LOVE to try this! I am not brave enough for a waxing, and I suffer terribly from the post-shave bumps. There's gotta be a better way!

  35. oh man! this would be so great to have, i don't want some stranger down there, i rather do it myself

  36. I'm shy and sensitive so the new Bliss-Phillips Bikini Perfect Deluxe at-home grooming system is just what I need to avoid way too much pain and misery, as well as the expense of salons. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  37. LOL....ROTFLOL!!! "So if you want to tame the mane, this system isn’t lame" Stop rhyming and I mean it....anybody want a peanut?
    : )

Interestingly enough I was talking to my friend today about this topic. What us women will do to primp!

  38. Wow...could I use this or what! What's it like to be bikini ready?? haha...I would soooo love to try this out. Thanks for the chance to know (from my and my hubby). :)

  39. Ha! I was looking at something similar last month. I can't stand using a razor. It's just not a pretty picture. Have you seen that clip from The Sex and The City movie? I can so relate!

  40. Seriously, have you gotten the forward about waxing down there? Its hilarious and makes me laugh every time. Sign us up for a giveaway!

  41. Just in time for summer! I've always wanted to try an epilator, shaving down there gives me horrible bumps and itchiness so it would be great to have another alternative

  42. I may not be braver than you, I will cringe and whine the whole time, and possible take a painkiller, but I would try the epilator b/c if it works then the pain is worth it.
I dream of the day (year) that I can finally treat myself to laser hair removal down there and under my arms.....sigh

  43. should I dare say I might even wear a bikini again. I hate shaving and the bumps and everything

  44. What is so wierd is that my husband and I were just joking about bikini waxing! This sounds much less painful to me.

  45. I'm like you, I would skip the painful part and use the rest. I remember using an Epilady in the 80's....I still shudder at the thought.

  46. OMG. This sounds like the best beauty system ever. I hate this part of the summer and this tool could make it bearable.

  47. You are brave...not only to try, but then to write! I don't think I could do anywhere near as well! So! I'll leave it by saying that I really would like to try it, and appreciate your honest review! And, I think I'm with you on the epilator part! :)

  48. I've gotten out of bikini shaving. I just wear shorts. Havn't been in a bikini for years. Have lost 4 sizes over the last year. Headed for 50 lbs. more. Maybe I could wear a bikini again, at lease for my husband. If I won this it would be just one of my rewards for reaching my life time lifestyle. Please enter me, thank you

  49. Not that I would ever wear a bikini, but this seems like a nice and easy way to groom the womanly bits.

  50. OMG! Yes! I would try anything to get rid of this annoying stuff! Especially without paying salon prices. I do it the old fashioned way and end up with razor burn!! UGH!!!

  51. Hi there! This is an interesting blog today! I am so relieved to see that I am not the only woman who hates having any stray hairs around "down there" when bikini season is here! For some reason, I have always been obsessed about my grooming "down there" and unfortunately I have seen women who apparently are not so much, and it is not a pretty sight, LOL! I would love this Bliss-Philips Bikini Perfect because I practically live in my bathing suit all summer long. We live on a lake and when I am playing with my 3 kids all day in and out of the water we are all in our suits. I am shaving every morning and it would be nice to have some decent "equipment" to use to make it an easier job! Thank you so, so much for offering this fantastic giveaway!

  52. oh- so interesting product. I have an old friend that used that had a (secret) habit of dying her hair down there pink. Since that isn't my idea of a good time, this product seems like a route I might want to take. I'm braving it up.

  53. This one kind of makes me blush! We just got back from our little vacation where there was a pool. No bikini for me but suit yes and razor yes. I think this would have made it a little easier.

  54. I'm a proud "down there" shaver, I ain't afraid to say it! This would be a great thing to win, it does get a little scary with 3 blade razor!

  55. I'd like to try this. I've been a razor girl for years. I also have 2 teenage daughters who are just starting with all of this.

  56. i need this! it's time to get this lady into summer boat-ready style! (beauty is pain, at least that's what i've been told!) - i'm all about no bumps or itching! :)

  57. I would totally try this product! No pain, no gain, right? Also, I would be willing to post a clip of me trying it on youtube. Now that's brave!

  58. I hate razor bumps, and this product sounds like it really eliminates that problem! Thanks for a wonderful offer!

  59. I have had so many nicks and close calls trying to do this with a regular buzzer. This is awesome and I hope I win! Thanks for the great contest!

  60. I only got a professional brazilian wax done twice. The first time, it seriously wasn't that bad. The second time,I think I got a new girl who had no idea what she was doing and I ended up bruised up and seriously mad. I never went back. I couldn't even wear underwear for a few days because it hurt too much. I would love to give this a try since my experience leaving it up to the professionals didn't go so smoothly.

  61. I need this! I can not stand razor stubble, and since I recently found out I am expecting I can not use the creams anymore and waxing is to expensive since I have to pay more for gas to get to work!

  62. You can probably tell my age by how little I do "there",
    Though I've done it before,
I know I'll never again go bare!

  63. It's not just women who want a clean look "down there". Thanks for the prize, I will share with my wife!

  64. I want to win...I don't want to win..I want to win...I need to take the plunge and just try it
    3beez at bellsouth dot net

  65. I would love to win this! I need to get myself ready to go swimming with my kids! Summer, here we come!!
    Thanks for the great giveaway.

  66. I am with you on the epilator part. I remember using one years ago. OUCH!! Time to try something new and improved. Thanks.

  67. I would love to use this during the beach season this summer. I am brave and have been looking at it in the bliss catalog, but I haven't wanted to spend the money on something I was unsure worked.

  68. I read the rules and one of them says to tell how you would use the product...well,trying to be discreet as possible,my husband likes a certain look that this product can provide, lol.I can't say this product would be "fun" to use,but perhaps it's easier and faster than the old razor. Thanks!

  69. So, you know that saying that says it's all about the journey, not the destination? In this case, that is just wrong. I'm terrified of the journey. Do you promise it's not that scary? Because I'm petrified.

  70. I really could use this! After having Joshua (my 5th & last baby) 3 months ago, my nether regions could use a serious overhaul! lol

  71. You definitely made me chuckle with your review! I am not brave, but my niece is! She would really love this product. Please enter me in your drawing. I always appreciate it.....Thanks,Cindi

  72. I wasn't really sure what an epilator was so I looked it up and OMG I am not braver than you. Maybe I'd try it on a hairy leg just to see how painful it is and if it wasn't too bad...

  73. This looks great because I'm too shy to see a "professional" and I want a closer shave than just the clippers I use. Thanks for showing it! :)

  74. Well I don't know if it is bravery or just a need to do what needs to be done but I would love to try it out.

  75. Oh I so need this. I just used some veet and almost passed out from the fumes, lol.

    Mommie
    mommie(at)mommieshome.net

  76. This is a great prize especially since summer is here...and I never seem to get this right...this would be perfect!

  77. This may be far too much information BUT, I have no choice than to groom "down there". The stuff grows down my legs....rather than sideburns, I have thigh-burns....it's just hideous! Anyways....I would love to try this kit out! And yes, I'd try the epilator too, why not?! LOL! Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  78. I'm beginning to feel a little brave because I'm sick of razors! I have recently thought about waxing and such just because I go through razors so fast and don't get the results that I want and need. I would love to win this and throw out all of the razors!

  79. Well my daughter just got done this weekend doing my hair (no she is Not a professional) for a family wedding, and through the painful tugs she said " Mom, beauty is painful". She would probably love this, especially since she has the body for a bikini.

  80. I've never heard of this product until now, and I am definitely intrigued...I would also dare to try the epilator. There's something sickly satisfying about killing body hair, regardless of amount of pain.

  81. Please enter me! I can be brave because my daughter is really bad about pointing out...mistakes...in my grooming!

  82. So I regularly shave my ladie's area with a razor, and it would be so nice to find something that is more gentle on the skin! Nothing like razor burn on your crotch!

  83. I've never gotten a bikini wax, because I'm squirmy of them. But I keep thinking more and more about getting an epilator, so I might try it.

  84. I feel like I have Buckwheat in a leg-lock lately and need to feel like a lady. Thanx for the contest.

  85. Am I braver than you are?? Hmmmm....

Would be more likely to 'tame the mane' if I had something like this....thanks for having the contest!

  86. I purchased a similar item recently and was so disappointed. It was absolutely worthless. I ended up throwing it away. I guess I should have returned it but I had it too long before I actually tried it. If you have tried this and had good results, I believe you. I would be trying the epilator feature though. I have a high tolerance to pain, especially in the name of beauty, lol. Thanks for offering it here.

  87. I would so try this... thanks for the chance to win!! I am so tired of shaving! (I know, who isn't??)

  88. My husband would be mortified if he were reading this! Might have to send it to him at work! Anyway, I don't really discuss my "down there" on blog sites, but since you might give me this nifty Bliss package, I shall make an exception. All I will say is anything to help in that area is greatly appreciated.

  89. You mean women can go to a salon and have this done? Women actually WOULD go to a salon to have that done? omg lol, wow... I had no idea.

    Hope I win. =)

  90. I used to own the "epilady", the original torture device! After using that everything else is no big deal!

  91. I struggle from all the razor after effects mentioned in your post and I'm far too wimpy to try waxing. If this kit works on me, it'll be a flippin' miracle . . .

  92. If I won this I could quit buying Betty Dye(color for your hair down there)Just get rid of it an no worries! WooHoo

  93. I was checking this out the other day. I hate to admit it but it would certainly come in handy for swimsuit season...and I love Bliss Lemon and Sage scent.

  94. So if you want to tame the mane, this system isn’t lame. LOL

Now come on, you're going to have to try the epilator part.

  95. It does sound kind of painful and like you, I'm not sure if I could go through with it! But I think I would try!! Thanks for a great contest.

  96. This does sound a little painful. lol
But if you recommend it, it must do the job. Would love to try it out for myself.

  97. I think I can...I think I can...I think I can. LOL Actually I had an Epilady once before ...it broke. Once you get used to it, it's not so bad. The first time is a wee bit of a shock though.

  98. I'm not brave at all, but at least this system sounds better than some of the others I've heard about. Ouch!!

  99. My disabled wife of more than 38 years would just LOVE this prize. Thanks for all the great contests!

  100. This system looks awesome! I have been wanting to buy an epillator for a long time, but they are kind of expensive. I've used one before and they really work if you can take the pain. Phillips is a pretty trustworthy brand, so I bet this one works well.

  101. Nice prize.
    Enter me.
    Want to win.
    Sounds good.
    This is mine!
    Thank you!

hee hee. Just kidding. Seriously, that thing looks like a multi-functional torture device. But, I'll take your word for it that it works. I've been looking for something that doesn't cost an arm and a nicely shaved leg AND for something that doesn't mean I have to undress and sit legs akimbo for some stranger in a torture chamber full of hot wax and screaming women. Perfect timing, too. I have some swimsuits to wear this summer after a bit of weight loss...and those around me don't need to witness red, bumpy scariness.

  102. I have a hard time getting "down there" looking right on my own, and don't want to go to a salon. I would love to try this!

  103. Anything to make the care down there easier and less painful would be most welcome. I'm not sure if I can muster the courage for the epilator or not either..... Kudos to you for trying the system for the rest of us. I'm sure my husband would be thrilled with this gift too - - Hmmm....would it count as a Father's Day present....?

  104. the bliss line is so new to me. this is exciting for me because i work in a salon and product knowledge is part of my job. we carry bliss now!!

  105. Confession time - I don't really prune that area too much because I hate ingrown hairs more than I hate stray foliage. If I win this, I would definitely try my hand at landscaping again!

  106. This would be awesome-- I've had some real bad experiences with bumpiness maybe this would make it better. I would love my mane to be tamed. =)

  107. This is the year that I will finally own a bathing suit, I've been too shy in the past. I'd love to try this to give me the added confidence. Thanks

  108. Not too proud to say that I love the idea of a women's mane tamer! I can't stand the razor rash and subsequent bumps. I did enjoy your review of the product though; thank goodness for sisters.

  109. This is a great grooming system to win. Especially since we are wanting to look nice in our shorts and swimwear.

  110. Hairy me would LOVE to win this. Body hair has been the bane of my existence since puberty, and when I got my second ovary removed I thought this problem would resolve somewhat. HAH!! Boy was I wrong. PLEASE pick me!! My legs are screaming for it!

  111. I could surely use this--right now I have to resort to using shorts for my bathing suit bottom to hide the bumps. I would love to be able to wear a "normal" bathing suit or bikini. This is a great prize and who ever wins this will be lucky indeed!

  112. I know this is hard to believe but living in the great state of Wyoming there is not a salon one within 100 miles that does this stuff. We all do it at home if we do it at all. I like to stay groomed and would love to win this!

  113. Haha great review!

I've been eager to purchase something like this for a while now, but haven't known whether or not I would actually like it. Seems like it might be worth it, though. If I don't win, of course ;)

  114. I HATE going to the salon for this, but have yet to find something that ahem, worked, as well as I'd like. I'd love to try this out and see!

  115. After my last self waxing fiasco, whereby I dripped so much of it in places I didn't want to, that I had to totally shave myself bald, I would be pleased to win this wonderful product!

  116. wow how cool i well would love to win this and i realy do need it realy bad i'm starting to look like bigfoot (lol) and well if i won this it just would help me out a lot thanks

  117. My wife has been looking for a good "shaver" for awhile and the Bliss-Phillips Bikini Perfect sounds... well, perfect!

  118. It is a bit intimidating, but hey - it's not joking that some of us dark haired woman may need this. Right??? Okay.. so I'd be willing to give it a try. Oh and I wouldn't even attempt to write review up about that when my sisters were around. LOL!!!!

  119. I want to tame the mane with a system that isn’t lame. :0)

Thank you for the great giveaway!

    themonkinme(at)gmail(dot)com

  120. Umm...did anyone else notice that they include an eyebrow comb in this kit? I'm all about Bliss' tendancy to pack in the products when they make their kits but this just made me laugh. I'm not in the habit of grooming my eyebrows at the same time that I'm working down under, know what I mean? ;) That being said, I've been happy with other Bliss products I've tried so I would guess this kit's pretty good too.

  121. I have been looking for something to help me in that area (both meanings of the word implied!) Yeah I have black hair and live in a pool driven world - it is so unfair!!! Please help me make my life easier!

  122. Even though a wax looks great, I would rather not spend the money on one. Oh and forgo the pain and disconfort too. I would much rather do the grooming at home with something that I can reuse over and over again.

  123. I have tried practically everything under the sun, and practcally everything leaves me with bumps and itchiness. I HATE going to the salon for that! This sound like something tha I could definitely use to "tame the mane" year round! Oh, and what exactly is the epilator part???

  124. Will it work on eyebrows? JUST KIDDING! ;)

I think your review on this product was priceless! Even if I don't win, I had to tell you that you made me laugh...

  125. Let me put it this way: If I win, I PROMISE to be brave enough to give it all a try! :) Thanks for the opportunity!

  126. I didn't even know they made a woman's groomer that is just for "down there." Please enter me in the contest!

  127. I would love to have a bikini line that not only was free from all that nasty hair but also didn't end up with a bunch of irritated red bumps. I have even tried waxing before. Fine, but expensive, in the salon and a nightmare on my own. NEVER again!

  128. I just went to the pool for the first time this season last night. Getting ready was a nightmare, because of the grooming I had to do in order to look presentable. I've never enjoyed the process, and most of the year go au natural, which makes the summer season grooming feel extremely annoying. And the red bumps and the lack of a clean look and all the other problems are just enough to practically send me over the edge! I can't bring myself to try waxing myself, and I'm not about to allow some stranger down there anyway. You've convinced me that I really *need* to win this product. It may just be a lifesaver for me!

  129. Love the review...aren't sisters great? :) I get the itchies, so I'd love to try something that will keep me comfortable and "tame". Thanks!

  130. There is nothing worse than putting on my bikini and looking like I'm growing a full beard underneath. I am tired of getting ingrown hairs from razor shaving my bikini area. I really need a product like this.

  131. Yes, this would be the PERFECT bikini ready kit I need (especially living next to the water). This would be something special for myself...

  132. You had me cracking up with your review. It is probably best that you stopped when you did. :) Anyway, I'm not too proud to admit that I wouldn't mind trying out this product. I would never be brave enough to go to a salon so this product sound great.

  133. I am willing to go through the pain if it means not having to shave every other dang day!! And ANYTHING that avoids the itchiness is a WINNER in my book!!

  134. I am so tired of having to cover up great bikinis because of razor rash or ingorwn hairs. I had checked this out on Amazon but wasn't sure if it worked as well as it claimed. I don't mind a little pain as long as I can finially start showing off my new bathing suit! Thanks so much!(I also heard its great for other hair removals!)

  135. Hmmm, not sure if I'd be braver than you and try the epilator either, but I'm all for anything else that doesn't leave me with a red, itchy, stinging rash down there after shaving.

  136. I would like to try it since I usually have to take a pain pill so that I can endure the pain of the long process of waxing myself

  137. This is fascinating. I am intrigued. I need all the help I can get in that department. It never turns out quite right...

  138. Cool! I try to "touch up" down there, but it's tough, and I can't find the courage to get a bikini wax from a stranger! ;)

  139. All I have to say is that a bikini wax is one of the most painful things I willfully inflicted on myself. I think it would be a great idea to offer a bikini wax after you have your epidural during child birth. That would be so nice!

  140. If I won this set, everyone that would see me in a bathing suit would give you a great big THANKS. Nobody wants to see all THAT so it's got to go.

  141. I just went swimming today for the first time in who knows how long (the joys of housesitting for someone with a pool!) and apologized profusely to my husband for my lack of tidiness. This would be awesome to accomplish those little things that you usually let go... husbands don't deserve that!

  142. It scares me but I would be willing to try! Bathing suit season is here. Not one said being a female is easy!

  143. Tame that Mane contestant number three is mannequin. Mannequin severely needs help in that "area".
