BEST OF 2008: Thermos Element 5

thermos_logoMy favorite beverage is water. Boring? Perhaps. But I just can't get enough of it.

My second favorite beverage is juice - especially the fresh-squeezed kind.

My third favorite beverage is hot apple cider.

And that's about it. I'm not really a fan of coffee, soda, specialty drinks, tea, etc.

My husband, on the other hand, is an avid coffee drinker. In fact, he's a bit of a coffee connoisseur snob. He likes fresh-roasted beans and rich, dark flavor. No "Folgers" or instant coffee for this guy. He wants the real thing - he wants it strong and he wants it hot.

thermos element 5 vacuum insulated mugI selected Thermos Element 5 for my "Best of 2008" series because the mugs and tumblers are sturdy, stylish, and sophisticated. More importantly, they keep drinks hot...for up to 6 hours, even in the frostiest weather! Plus, you can turn these mugs upside-down without a single droplet spilling out.

These are fantastic tumblers for parents, for athletes, for just about anyone really. Bring your famous vegetable soup to work and it will still be piping hot at lunchtime. Fill it up with hot cocoa and it will be steaming several hours later...

The mugs and tumblers retail for $34.99 each and the food jars retail for $29.99...and both are backed by the Thermos Lifetime Performance Guarantee. You can order online or search for a retailer near you.

Just curious...what is your favorite drink?

WIN IT! One winner will receive a Thermos Element 5 prize pack, which includes a Vacuum Insulated Travel Mug and a Vacuum Insulated Food Storage Jar. 1. We mostly drink water (and milk) around here, but I do love a good limonada when I can get it. Thanks for the giveaway; I've never yet been disappointed by a Thermos.

  2. i like water as well. I really like tea too! This would be so perfect for tea in the morning because i'm usually running all over the house so i can't really hod a coffee cup, this would definitely keep me from burning my hands!

  3. I work in a cooler and I would love a thermos capable of keeping some coffee warm for 6 hours that would be awesome! Thanks for the entry

  4. Thermos Element 5 is perfect for the Washington climate. I could easily pour my Starbucks into this and have hot coffee for 6 hours.

  5. I would love this! My husband bought me a great travel mug, but somehow he decided it was better suited for him! Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. I can't go without my morning coffee! I don't care for it any other time of day but my morning is not complete without it. My favorite daytime beverage is water too. I never used to drink it alot until I was pregnant with my 1st child. During my pregnancy all I could drink was water and that's all I wanted. Even coffee was repulsive to me immedietly (before I even knew i was pregnant). When I was pregnant with my 2nd I knew it instantly when the thought of coffee made me gag!

  7. I love coffee too but I have to buy Maxwell House since I'm poor (hehe) so this would come in handy so I could take my coffee to work with me! Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. Greetings from the Lake-effect snowland where the wicked wind is howling today! It would be like magic to have this prize arrive at our home...and I'd stop sh-sh-shivering when I go on errands....

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  9. Perfect for these cold New England winters. I can leave a hot tea in the car while I shop and know it will be still hot when I'm through.

  10. I'm a teacher- drink coffee in the morning (whenever I get a chance to take a sip) and love to bring soup to school for lunch. I hate that it takes up time during my lunch period (a measly 20 minutes) to heat up my soups. This would be perfect!

  11. My favorite drink, well hot would be hot egg nog, and cold would be Irish Cream flavored Italian Soda with real whipped cream on top. mmm

  12. My favorite drink is either hot apple cider or ice cold lemonaid. Right now the cider wins out since it is sooo cold. This thermos would be super helpful for taking hot drinks on long car trips

  13. I would love to win this for myself but my oldest daughter would be so happy if I would win this for her. Her classmate has one of these food jars and it's amazing how long it keeps the food warm. Lisa would love to take warm chocolate milk to school and this mug would be perfect. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!

  14. It is now noon in rural WA. The snow is about 2-3 feet deep. Help with the coffee!!! Rain I can handle, snow I can't.

  15. I would love to win this for my husband simply because I have never had the opportunity to buy or give him something that he didnt give me the money for. This could be the first thing that I am able to give to him on my own

  16. I love my Starbucks thermal travel mug, but I'm always up for trying something new. My hubby would also love a good one and since I'm not sharing mine {wink}, this would be nice to give him as a present. It looks great and I love that it doesn't leak. Can't beat that! Thanks for the chance to enter!

  17. I'm not sure if it's my favorite drink or not but I drink water the most. I also like A&W root beer in the brown bottles only. I don't drink it very often though. Coffee is good in the mornings as well.

  18. Oh this would be perfect since I can never find my insalated cups for my hot tea when I need and the food jar would be perfect for the kidos lunh when they take leftover soup or stew.

  19. My fave drink is COFFEE! and I am not a snob about it. ANY kind, anytime. These Thernos containers would be great for taking a healthy soup to work and my COFFEE!

  20. I'm a coffee addict, but not so much a snob. I'll take about any kind I can get! I would love this to take with us to the cabin so that we can have warm cocoa after playing in the snow!

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

  21. living far from family, we take lots of road trips to visit them. These items would be perfect for long car rides!

  22. My husband would love the travel mug for taking tea to school in the mornings (he's a teacher). I think the food storage jar would be handy too, he could take a lunch more appealing than the cafeteria food.

  23. I am an avid coffee drinker and I also put some coffee in my mug and then into my backpack for the bike ride to work every morning (no matter how cold it is). I usually get to work and it is super cold - sometimes ice cold. I would love and use this. I could really give it a try in these elements.

  24. So, I was reading through this post and came to where you say you're not really into coffee... COFFEE! I left the water heating on the stove!! I ran upstairs and averted a slight disaster. Once I forgot that the pot was on and it had gone from a cheery red color to purple it was so hot. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to do that! Anyway, I really like coffee, and I really like Chai tea, and I really like fresh squeezed oj.

  25. I've been wanting a good thermos for work so that I can pack soup...the diet of champions! LOL!! m_huston(at)hotmail(dot)com

  26. I, too, do not enjoy soda. In fact, I think it could be considered a borderline poison when drunk everyday. That said, I'm not an angel when it comes to the beverages I consume. I heart coffee! Folgers won't do it for me either. Especially when I'm pregnant and allowed only one cup a day -- it's gotta be GOOD coffee. My love for coffee combined with our cold climate make me a perfect candidate for this thermos.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  27. This Thermos would be great. My favorite drink is water but we also love coffee and tea, both hot and cold. I would love to be able to send soup to work with hubs so this would be perfect. Thanks for the chance to enter.

  28. My husband works in construction and this Thermos would certainly help in giving him a variety the eat at lunch besides a sandwich, ha ha!! Hot soup or stew, oh the possibilites are starting to sound endless in my head. Also he is a coffee snob also and I wouldn't have to listen to how awful this or that coffee was that he picked up on the jobsite. Son also plays soccer so this would be perfect for those weekends when we have to sit out in goodness know what kind of weather and it would be nice to have some hot chocolate.

  29. Boy it sure has been busy but I wanted you to know I'm still here. My favorite drink is water and then juice too. I don't do much soda and I've never even tried coffee or tea being that I'm Mormon. :)

  30. I'm a fresh orange juice fan - I don't know what it is about it, but I find it such a wonderful thirst quencher! This thermos pack would be perfect for my outdoorsy hubby:)

  31. My husband uses his thermos elements travel mug (that I gave him last year for Christmas) every day for his coffee & loves it. He'd really enjoy having a spare, though... :)

  32. Ohhh, this would be fun to win, I hate it when they spill! My favorite drink is coffee, I love water because of its wonderful health benefits and tea is right behind it! Thanks for entering me!

  33. I don't really do pop, but every once in awhile I enjoy a vanilla coke. However, I love my Aveda tea before bed and a good cup of coffee in the morning!

  34. My husband takes tea every morning to work in a much smaller insulated cup. He would LOVE this one, I think! It's so hard to find a thermos that really does the job of keeping hot beverages hot...this one looks great!

  35. I purchased this mug for my hisband after your original review. He is like your husband when it comes to his coffee and he LOVES this mug. Would love to have another and to try the tumbler for lunches!

  36. This would be great to keep coffee in, and I am a big time coffee lover! :)~
Thanks for the giveaway and chance to win!

  37. I would love these for bringing food & beverage to work with me. I'd really love to bring soup but I don't have a microwave at work to heat it up.

  38. Mmm, hot chocolate and hot cider are my favorite -- well, hot drinks. My favorite cold ones are water, nonfat milk, and shakes.

  39. We spent this evening wandering through downtown Ft. Collins, watching ice skaters, browsing through the cute little shops, and enjoying all the Christmas lights and decor. I actually said to my husband, "the only thing we're missing is a Thermos of hot chocolate." So my fingers are crossed. We really could use these in our new cold home.
