  1. Okay...so I CANNOT believe I missed this giveaway! Ugh. I was so busy last week that I'm just now getting around to keeping up with my favorite blogs. I am seriously the BIGGEST Anne fan. I've even been to PEI and my husband proposed there. I recently went to Hawaii and on my facebook status I wrote "I'm still excited for Hawaii but more excited that there is a fourth Anne of Green Gables out!" Haha. I hope your birthday was fantastic.

  2. Oh I just adore these movies and books, my daughter's middle name is Anne after Anne of Green Gables. Ok...movies I enjoyed this past year...The Dark Knight, Twilight and Pineapple Express

  3. Happy Birthday! I was going to throw a party for my friends on mine, but I never thought of giving out presents. Good idea! What a great series-and I never actually saw the videos. Would love to see them, and also share them with my daughter!

  4. I love Anne of Green Gables! I didn't watch many movies this year... but Howl's Moving Castle was good I thought.

  5. Happy Birthday! ;-) What a great idea for a giveaway! I'd love to win this set for my sister, who loves the first one, but has yet to see the rest.

Top three movies... um, well we don't go the theatre much, but: I watched the first two Lord of the Rings movies for the first time and loved 'em, so those would have to be on the list... and Fireproof was really good too!

    ~Grace

  6. Happy Birthday to you!! What a great giveaway, I hope whoever wins will appreciate it as much as my family would! Thanks for the entry!

  7. Happy Birthday! Sorry that I missed out on the giveaway. I love Anne of Green Gables. Thanks, anyway. Have a beautiful day.

  8. my favorite movies:
    The Dark Knight
    The Wrestler
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I hope you had a great Birthday!!!!

Thanks for the interesting blog and all the fantastic giveaways

  9. Ugh. Should I admit that I've never read these books, let alone seen the films? Well, I guess I just did. I guess this could be the next series of books the kinder reads (and thus, I get the audio version - hee hee).
Hmmm, best movies last year? I'm kinda down on Hollywood movies, but I did enjoy Twilight (but it didn't compare to the book). Can't think of anything else. Sad.

  10. What a great giveaway! I always loved Anne when I was growing up, and I don't think I ever "outgrew" her. :-) Happy, happy birthday!! Mine is the 19th, so this would be a great birthday gift.

Best movies I saw last year??? I hardly ever see movies in the theater, so that's a tough one. When I do go, they're lighthearted "getaway" movies with a girlfriend (Hubby & I rent the serious ones at home). I guess my favorites were

    27 Dresses
    The Devil Wears Prada
    Get Smart
    Mamma Mia!

Hope your birthday was fabulous! Thanks for sharing the love.

  11. Happy birthday!! I love love love Anne of Green Gables. Seriously, read my blogger profile. My hubby has never seen the movies and I always talk about how much I want to buy them. I really would love to win! The three movies I most enjoyed this year were In Bruges, The Dark Knight, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. :)

  12. Oh no! I missed commenting on your actual birthday! I hope you had a great day topped off with a big piece of cake. Or pie. Or something equally sweet and fattening with candles on top. After all, that baby in there deserved a little celebration too right?!

  13. three best movies... hmm... saw a ton(wife works at blockbuster, five free movies a week), Gran Torino, Wall-E, and Wanted!

  14. Happy Birthday to you! I'm jealous of your 75 degree temps and time in the park with your daughter...I can't wait for Spring! Anne of Green Gables is such a classic...I remember as a teenager having an all-night marathon with some of my friends and our moms, watching these movies. It's been a LONG time since I've seen them...what fun it would be to watch them again! Thanks for sharing your birthday with us!

  15. I know we've talked about this before...I love Anne of green gables. random thought: I wonder how old my girls need to be before they start watching these? I wonder if they would like Mary Poppins yet.

Anyway, Happy birthday, girl! Enjoy it!

  16. Ooo, I'm so glad I clicked over today! I hope we have many mami and daughters dates watching these movies and reading the books. We watched so many movies (hubby loves movies) that they're all mixed in my mind. I guess there wasn't one in particular that even really stands out. Somehow he can remember the most minute details and I'm always clueless.

  17. Ahhh, I would love the chance to go down memory lane and watch these movies again and repeatedly, and also share them with my daughter as she grows up!

  18. I so rarely sit down and completely watch a movie anymore. Maybe it's because the action adventures my husband prefers seem so interchangeable...I did watch THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, NO RESERVATIONS and FOOL'S GOLD.

  19. Happy birthday!
I didn't watch too many movies last year, but my favorite was definitely "Dan in Real Life". Not even sure if it actually came out in 2008, but that's when I saw it :) I LOVE Anne - what a fun giveaway!

  20. I can't believe I almost missed this giveaway! I was so bummed I didn't win the last time you gave away the series.

As for movies, we don't get to the theater much, so the only 2008 movie we've seen was "Wall-E" and I loved it mainly because Ina now can do a spot-on impression of Wall-E's voice! It cracks us up.

Other favorite movies - ones I'll watch over and over again whenever they are on TV - are Dances with Wolves and Apollo 13. The latter I saw in the theater with my brother (the mechanical engineer) who said upon exiting, "I loved that! When do you ever get to see engineers be heros?"

  21. I really did not see many movies this year. My favorite was probably Quantum of Solace. My daughter loves Anne of Green Gables and would love to see the movies.

  22. I just wanted to peek over here and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Our birthdays are so close. I bet you are much, much younger than me though :) Enjoy your day, sweetie!!

Juno, Twilight (of course), & Wall-E

  23. I would love to have this to watch with my duaghters! The best movies I saw were 27 Dresses, The Dark Knight, and Mamma Mia!

  24. Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express

i looove Woody Allen and i was really happy with how good Vicky Crisitna Barcelona was, one of his best!

  25. Happy Birthday! Thanks for another terrific giveaway! The only really good movie I saw this past year was on TV "Pride and Prejudice", Love watching reruns of "Oh God Where Arth Thou"

  26. I'm a day late, so happy belated birthday!!!
Wow, if I can even remember 3 movies that I saw!!! Iron Man, Kung Fu Panda, and Wall-E are three that I can think of. =)

  27. I liked August Rush, Charlie Wilson's War and the Dark Knight. The Anne movies are so nice. Thanks for the giveaway.

  28. Happy Birthday!! My 3 best movies would be Ghost Rider,Dark Ride and Crash. Thank you for the fantastic giveaway!

  29. Happy Birthday! Thanks for the opportunity to win the Anne of Green Gables dvds. I think my daughter is old enough to watch these with me now.

  30. Happy, happy birthday to you!!!!

Anne of Green Gables...I get picked on for next watching that growing up, and now I have the chance to win my very own DVD set and catch up on what I missed out on. :) Thanks for the contest! :)

  31. I LOVE Anne of Green Gables! In fact, I checked it out from the library last week! I would love to own this set. It is definitely a classic! Have a wonderful birthday! (PS. I didn't watch any movies in 2008 worth mentioning, but when Fireproof comes out on DVD next week, it is first on my list of movies to watch.)

  32. suuuweeeettttt

    three top movies were

    Made of Honor
    Definitely Maybe
    Dan in Real Life

do you know if we can rent the new AofGG in Canada...watching for it.

  33. Oh, goody, oh goody, oh goody! Hope I win! Oh, my.

  35. Happy Birthday to youuuuuuu!!

Did I even see any movies in 2008? I'm pathetic. I think we watched "The Queen" on DVD. That may be it.

Apparently we need this Anne of Green Gables gift set.

  36. Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday!!! Thanks for offering a giveaway on your birthday, so nice of you! Considering I mostly take my girls to the movies all I've seen are kids movies. I like Kung Fu Panda, Nim's Island and College Road Trip (the one with Raven!) Great giveaway - thanks for offering it!

  37. Oh, I remember coveting this when you gave one away last year! I can't remember any god movies from last year - I haven't been to a movie theater since I fell pregnant (33 months ago - not that I'm counting or anything . . . !) I do love March of the Penguins though - always makes me cry!

  38. Happy Birthday!

I never read these books but it turns out that my mom read them as a little girl in Japan and has always wanted to go to Nova Scotia. Huh? I can't believe she never read them to me or encouraged me to read them when I was a kid!

Anyway, we don't get out to movies much so I am not entirely sure what counts as a 2008 film. I liked the new Bond movie, Bolt, Seven Pounds. They might be all I saw in the theater last year!

  39. Happy birthday!!! Cheers to you!!

I don't really watch movies...so that's a tough one! I read. LOL, how I do love Anne of Green Gables though!

  40. My favorite 3 movies in 2008....... hmmmm? I started off the year with a 4 month old and ended with a 16 month old so I don't even remember going to the theater even once. I do recall watching a few rentals at home, though. Among my favorites of those were: Ladder 49, Wedding Crashers, and Click!

  41. Oh, wow, this is great! I love the first two Anne movies--they've been favorites of mine for a long time.

The three best movies I watched in 2008 were (in the theater) Fireproof and (not in theater, but at a film festival) Abraham and Isaac and The Widow's Might.

  42. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I am so glad I remembered to stop by today! :) Hope you have a wonderful day!

My family and I LOVE LOVE LOVE! Anne of Green Gables! LOVE THEM! I read the entire series when I was 13 and we watch the movies once a month! :)

I would have to say the 3 best movies I saw in 2008 were:
    Fireproof
    I Am Legend
    EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed

Wonderful giveaway! thank you for always giving such fab things away! :)
    Miss Amanda

  43. Well, Happy Birthday! My childhood best friend and I used to stay up late, shedding quiet tears over Anne's adventures. She truly is a kindred spirit to all girls - young and old. I'd love introduce my hubby to my childhood friend :)

  44. What a great show this is! I love Anne...wow...brings me back to a much simpler time. What an awesome series. If you haven't watched it, you really should!

As far as my fave movies of 2008? Get this...I didn't go to the theater once last year so I'm sure I missed a TON of great movies. I'll list my faves that I watched or rented (again) and some of these are oldies but goodies!

On Golden Pond (love, love, LOVE)
Christmas Vacation (have to watch this every year)
    Ferris Bueller's Day Off

    Happy Birthay!!

  45. Happy Birthday!!! Yeah, I do love Anne...not so sure about the latest release though.

2008 faves (not sure if they all came out in 2008...but at least that's when I saw them)

    Curious Case of Benjamin Button
    August Rush
    Definitely Maybe
    Secret Life of Bees

  46. Happy Birthday! This is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE series and will be until I die! I grew up watching Anne of Greene Gables and I really want to introduce her to my daughter when she's old enough, but I don't have the series yet! What a special giveaway! Thank you.

  47. Happy Birthday!!

My 3 favorite movies I saw this past year (hopefully, they don't need to be new releases...I think it's been years since we've been to the movies; the library is our favorite place to go):

-Lars and the Real Girl (we rented it when our son was just a few days old and my husband and I and by default, baby John, watched it from 3-5am while the rest of the house was asleep.

-Cinderella (watching it with my 5 year old daughter - we both love it when the mice sing "cinderelly, cinderelly, ...."

    -Karate Kid - classic

I loved to read/watch anne when I was younger.

  48. O, how lovely of you to give away such a fabulous prize on your birthday. Those are definitely on my all-time favorites list. A few of my favorite movies of '08 were: August Rush, Miss Potter (maybe that was '07?), Fireproof, and Ironman.

  49. I remember my cousin owned the Anne of Green Gables books and movies when I was little. And I was SO jealous of her. She did let me watch them, though :)

Favorite movies of 2008: Ghost Town, Smart People, and Semi Pro.

  50. I loved Anne of Green Gables when I was a child and I am sure that my daughter would too! My life was so crazy in 08 that I barely had time to clean my house:) let alone watch movies. I hope to watch more in 2009!

  51. I'd love to introduce Anne to my girls as they grow up. As for your question, I don't know that I have an answer. a, my memory is poor enough that I don't remember what I watched in 2008. b, I'm so indecisive that even if I had a list of what I watched in front of me I probably would have a hard time narrowing it down to three favorites. :) Happy Birthday again!

  52. Happy Birthday! Three best movies in 2008 for us were John Adams, The Visitor and Under the Same Moon. And we watched Anne of Green Gables over again. Thank heavens for Netflix!

  53. Happy Birthday!

My 27 year old stepdaughter would absolutely love this!

I really enjoyed the new National Treasure movie. I think it came out in '08 LOL

  54. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to YOU! I'm afraid I haven't had much time for movies lately, but the Anne of Green Gable series is one of my all time favorites! What a wonderful giveaway - thank you!

  55. My daughter would love this!

3 best movies? I don't know? Dh would say The Dark Knight, kids would say Kung Fu Panda, I think I would say Horton Hears A Who!

  56. Calling all Anne and Gil fans... me! me! :)

A very happy birthday to you (hopefully, you're celebrating all week, like we do - I love birthdays!).

All the best for another great year.
    cheers,
    laura

  57. My daughter's name is Anne--spelled the same, too. I'm mortified to say we haven't yet watched the movie (although two friends INSIST we'll love it). Definitely count my daughter and me IN!

    Three favorite movies of 2008:
    BURN AFTER READING
    MILK
    HAPPY-GO-LUCKY

  58. Happy Birthday!!
I loved Ironman, I did not think I would but it was great! I adore anne of green gables, the great movies and the even better books! My middle name is Anne and is spelled with and e too

  59. Its been forever since I've seen this! These movies were my go to movies as a child, whenever I was sick my Mom would play these for me.

  60. Yes! Awesome giveaway :) You know how I feel about Anne of Green Gables! And I still need to see the Business of Being Born. I will put that on my 2009 list.

  61. Well Happy Birthday to You, big girl!

Anne, oh Anne. My husband introduced me to Anne, as a matter of fact. We watched a whole big miniseries. Whoever wins this will have a magical time watching them. If I win them I promise we'll watch them over and over. And with the kids. And one day when we have grandchildren, with them, too. Fantastic prize!

  62. Ahhh, My husband might either laugh or make fun of me if I were to win this set, but I'd totally love it!

    Fav movies from 2008:
BBC's "North & South" miniseries (MUST SEE!)
    The Business of Being Born
    Transformers

And, uh... for perspective, I didn't watch a lot of new-to-me movies this past year. ;)
