Breakfast for Dinner

belgian waffle with blueberries and bananasEvery once in awhile it's fun to "change things up" a bit and make breakfast for dinner.

Scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, fresh honeydew melon, etc.

Breakfast foods are filling, easy to whip up, and somehow very fun to eat. So, why not eat a little bit of a.m. food at 5:30 p.m.?

I'm usually not a "boxed" kind of girl, but I have to admit that I really love the Krusteaz brand. They have two super yummy mixes that we use often: Belgian Waffle Mix and Blueberry Pancake Mix.

I'd like to start making homemade pancakes and waffles, but I haven't yet found the perfect recipe. Maybe today will be "my day." Will you share yours? I'm especially interested in recipes that are whole-wheat, healthy, and/or light & golden (but don't hesitate to share yours if it's super sweet, yet positively palatable).

To help celebrate the "breakfast for dinner concept," I have a special prize package from OXO that I will award to one winner. The pack includes:

Batter Bowl ($11.99)

batter bowl oxo

11" Balloon Whisk ($9.99)

11" balloon whisk oxo

Silicone Trivet ($6.99)

OXO products are easy-to-grip, attractive, and affordable. Most of our kitchen tools are made by OXO precisely because of these factors. Best of all, they can be purchased online or at dozens of other retailers.

  11. I hate the rule that you should only have pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, etc. for Dinner.
    When a girl is craving waffles, she deserves waffles!

  12. My favorite pancake will always be mickey mouse shaped with chocolate chips. I loved this when I was a kid and now my kids love it. I like to use fresh fruit to decorate mickey and put honey or jam over it instead of syrup. Thanks for the giveaway!! [email protected]

  13. Breakfast for dinner - my favorite! We have blueberry bushes and peach trees, so of course I love either one of them in my waffles. My kids both like chocolate chips in theirs.

  14. I'm a lazy cook, especially since I am only cooking for myself. I usually go with Aunt Jemima pancake mix and make the thin crispy waffles with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Not too healthy, but very tasty.

  15. For a speckal treat, I made a buttermilk based butterscotch syrup (friend's recipe) Very rich, but delicious! (I try not to make it too often, but wow!)

  22. When my grandsons make the 1200 mile trip to visit the first thing they ask for is my french toast. My one grandson has a record of 10 pieces. I use cinnamon and sugar in my batter mix along with a pinch of ground nutmeg and cloves. Thank you for the chance to be a winner.

  23. I've always loved OXO products! They were the only kitchen gadgets on our registry when we got married and our kitchen is full of very well-used gadgets now!

  24. I also use Krusteaz boxed mixes. I just got a belgian waffle maker and had been thinking I should make my own mixes, so I will be checking out this thread for ideas. Thank you!

  25. My favorite OXO product is a little brush that has a small container of soap attached so you can just squirt soap directly onto what you are cleaning. I wish I new what this product was called.

  26. I love putting happy faces in chocolate chips on pancakes for my kids. My husband doesn't mind, either!
    I often use melon ballers to make cookies, too. They come out the same size for each cookie.

  27. I like Oxo products, because they are good quality products that last. One of the most useful items to me is a vegetable peeler.

  28. My favorite recipe for pancakes is on the Bisquick box. ;-) I LOVE Oxo products! I have a vegetable peeler that actually makes peeling things a pleasure. Nothing like the cumbersome, dull things we used when I was growing up.

  29. Sunday morning breakfast is a special time in our household for all involved, from parents, to baby, to dogs... We would love OXO products to help make those pancake/waffle days even better!

    Thanks!

  30. I'm a big fan of the OXO products. And, like others, my husband likes to make the pancakes in the house. I make everything else. My favorite breakfast is NOT pancakes, though. It's eggs cooked in bacon grease with a TON of different veggies cooked inside on a slice of garlic country bread.

  31. OXO products are wonderful! I own several of their products and wouldn't give them up for the world. Thanks for a great giveaway :)

  32. OXO products are really high quality. They rarely break or wear out--and when they do, we usually replace it with the identical item.

  37. My favorite pancake recipe is very simple.
    2 cups flour
    1 tsp salt
    2 tsps baking powder
    2 Tbls sugar (optional)
    2 eggs
    2 cups milk
    2 Tbls vegetable oil
    Mix dry ingredients. Beat eggs, add milk and oil. Combine with dry ingredients. Ladle onto a hot griddle or skillet. You know the rest...

    I love OXO products. My kitchen drawers are full of them. I especially like the OXO garlic press and the can opener. I have fibromyalgia, and sometimes my fingers and hands are stiff and painful, so using OXO products is easier for me.

  38. OK, I admit it, I use Aunt Jamima (sp?), so I don't have any recipe, but I do really love the OXO brand. I especially like their easy grip handles. Thanks for the great giveaway.

  39. Crepes
    2 c. flour (Try NOT to use enriched flour which is unhealthy)
    3 c. 1% milk
    3 T. butter
    Blend flour, milk and add beaten eggs, then melted butter. Let batter sit for 30 minutes at room temperature. Put 1 t. butter in teflon pan and melt. Add scant amount of batter, till pan to coat bottom, cook and turn once. Remove and stack and continue with making rest.
    These are light and tasty. Fill with jam or apple butter or use for dinner.

  40. I just love these OXO products. They are extremely innovative. A pure joy with my arthritis. Here is a receipe I just love - it's for Banana pancakes with berries. I found the receipe on a site called Allreceipes. Here it is:
    INGREDIENTS
    2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
    1/2 cup sugar
    3 teaspoons vanilla extract
    PANCAKES:
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 egg
    1 cup buttermilk
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    2 medium ripe bananas, cut into 1/4-inch slices

    In a bowl, combine the strawberries, sugar and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
    For pancakes, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Combine the egg, buttermilk, oil and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
    Pour the batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto a lightly greased hot griddle; place 5-6 banana slices on each pancake. Turn when bubbles form on top; cook until second side is golden brown. Serve with strawberries and whipped cream if you desire.

  41. Our favorite pancakes are Blueberry made with whole wheat. I love my OXO kitchen products they easy to use and they have a great fit in your hand. Plus they are dishwasher safe.
    1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 egg
    1 cup milk, plus more if necessary
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 tablespoon artificial sweetener
    1/2 cup blueberries

    tamben7996(at)aol(dot)com

  42. Thinly slicing a banana and adding a pinch of cinnamon to the batter makes a tasty and healthy treat. Also, I love the feel of OXO products--always comfortable yet sturdy. Thanks for the contest!

  43. I make a baked pancake - bake at 350 for 30 min. Pour 2 Tbs melted butter into a pie plate, layer 2 sliced apples and 1/2 cup cranberries. Drizzle with 2 Tbs maple syrup and sprinkle of cinnamon. Pour pancake batter on top and bake. Yumm!

  44. I really like the functionality and durability of OXO products. Supposedly their measuring spoons and cups are among the most accurate on the market.

  45. I find that it is a waste to buy anything but oxo tools. They either break too soon or feel uncomfortable to use or just plain dont work. I had to wait for over a year to get a garlic press as the local stores were sold out every time I went. Finally I picked a good day and they had restocked the oxo garlic presses and I can now happily spice up my food.

  46. I love Oxo products. I first encountered them almost 20 years ago when hubby ran a gourmet shop. Since then, we've had numerous OXO products. My favorite is the peeler--that doesn't care that I'm left handed.

  47. You asked for a waffle recipe. What is a recipe? I only use what comes in a box, and for waffles, Krusteez is the best! Belgian waffles with warm blueberry pie filling - from a can, of course. The kids love it when I top it off with whipped cream!

    The batter bowl would be very helpful!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  48. We frequently eat breakfast for dinner in my household. I love this batter bowl with the handle. All of the OXO products are so soft and extra fun to use! Thanks for a great contest!

  49. I do love OXO products! They are extremely affordable and very durable!
    Thanks so much for the Krusteez tip. We have not tried those waffle or pancake mixes. We have been using Bisquick, but I am not too thrilled with it.

  50. i must say that krusteaz is my favorite waffle mix too. sometimes for a special treat we might add some chocolate chips to them to sweeten them up without using syrup.

  51. Well hubby makes the Belguim waffles in a huge heavy cast iron professional waffle iron and I have no idea of the recipe He doesn't share it because he says I would mess it up Its his specialty

  52. We use my grandmother's waffle recipe:
    1 C milk
    1/2 C vegetable oil
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 C flour
    2 eggs
    dash salt
    Separate eggs. Beat whites until stiff. Next beat yolks. Add milk to yolks. Add Flour and salt to yolk mixture. Once mixed, add oil. Last, fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and baking powder.

    I love that these are from our family and we make them whenever we can!

  53. I have a few Oxo things. Oxo makes very high quality kitchen products. I love pancakes. I like to have them with apples and pure maple syrup. Waffles are delicious too!

  54. I am addicted to pancakes and waffles. I never miss a free pancake day at IHOP, and my favoruite flavour for both has to be blueberry! Thank you for offering this giveaway! eyeslikesugar [at] gmail [dot] com

  55. Here's the waffle recipe I use (which I found at http://www.allrecipes.com). These are very light and freeze wonderfully!

    INGREDIENTS
    * 2 eggs, beaten
    * 1 3/4 cups skim milk
    * 1/4 cup canola oil
    * 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
    * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    * 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
    * 1/2 cup flax seed meal
    * 1/4 cup wheat germ
    * 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    * 4 teaspoons baking powder
    * 1 tablespoon sugar
    * 1/4 teaspoon salt

    DIRECTIONS

    1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil, applesauce, and vanilla. Beat in whole wheat pastry flour, flax seed meal, wheat germ, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until batter is smooth.
    2. Preheat a waffle iron, and coat with cooking spray. Pour batter into waffle iron in batches, and cook until crisp and golden brown.

  56. I love breakfast for supper. We have it about once a week. Tonight it was sausage, fried potatoes & bagels. Sat. morning is always Pancake Day at my house. I also love OXO. Their salad spinner is the best!

  57. I love the batter bowl and I love anything that has the name Oxo attached to it. My present bowl by Tupperware is on its last leg so I would love to replace it with Oxo's bowl.

  58. I have a few OXO brand items in my kitchen and LOVE them. They last forever and are still in great shape (especially compared to my normal Wal-Mart Stuff). I love to do a quiche at dinner (I guess that is kinda normal dinner stuff instead of breakfast). I normally love breakfast for dinner (those waffles look wonderful) but ever since I had Lily (who just turned 1) I am still getting back to eggs. For awhile after having her eggs turned my nose.

  59. we eat breakfast for dinner quite often. I am not a breakfst person, have eaten a sandwhich for years and years. It is easier to get us all together at dinner.

  60. we have pancakes for dinners a few times a month. I always use my grandmother's recipe but it is not healthy, regular flour, sugar, butter and such.

  61. Challah bread makes the best frech toast - its thick, but not too heavy, and just a little sweet to really bring out some great flavors. I reccommend everyoneuse challah the next time they are making french toast - you'll love it!

  62. My daughter and I love to make Swedish pancakes out of my mom's old Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. That book is showing some serious age. I should get a new one but it wouldn't be the same. :)

    I love OXO products. I have a bowl, several utensils, etc. I do NOT have the ones listed above and would FREAK if I won. Seriously.

  63. You might find this hard to believe, but the thing that excites me the most out of thoe products is the melon baller. Is that sad?

  64. We love breakfast for dinner! I usually make pancakes from a recipe my mom always used, and if I have buttermilk I will replace some of the milk in the recipe with buttermilk for yummy, puffy pancakes!

  65. The best waffle recipe I have found is from Ina Garden, barefoot contessa. So basically it is not light in the healthy way but it is light in crispy golden deliciousness. I was skeptical putting melted butter in the batter but WHOA! it tasted like you put butter on the top, only it is perfectly placed inside very bite!! DELISH!! Now they sell the Ina mix at crate and barrel!! EVEN BETTER!!

  66. My wife and I love oxo products. We have a bunch of them including their Garlic Press that is used the most in our house. I love that they are guaranteed! We had our garlic press break and I just took it to the store and they gave us a new one right there.

  67. These days, my favorite breakfast to make for my daughter and myself is applesauce oat pancakes. I found the recipe on recipezaar.com ages ago - recipe #97169 - and not only is it healthy, its a hit every time I make it!

  68. I haven't had waffles for dinner since college. Our dining commons would have "late night" food choices after 8pm and they were basically cookies, chicken wings, or waffles. Best meal ever. Mmmm I miss waffles for dinner.

  69. My past pancakes/waffles have been from box mixes, after reading some of these recipes, I am going to try from Scratch!

    I am getting older, and OXO products are wonderful to use( easier to hold on to)

    Nice giveaway~Very useful products.

  70. I love the Oxo products. Very nice and easy to use. I dont have a favorite pancake recipe - havent found one I love yet. But I love to take homemade honey wheat bread and use for french toast. So yummy! Thank you
    [email protected]

  71. When we lived down South we freqented the Waffle House and the kids ALWAYS raved about their waffles. We moved to PA and everyone (even me) missed those sweet waffles. I googled Waffle House waffle recipe and I actually found a "cheat" site that had all sorts of restaurant recipes, KFC, Chili's and Waffle House. Now whenever we have time to make a BIG breakfast we pull out the recipe and the waffle iron and everyone is happy!

  72. I really like OXO products. I had a vegetable peeler that I loved which has somehow gotten lost. Hmmm, I wonder if it could be because my sons usually put the dishes away. Anyway, I need to buy a new one because I really miss it and don't like the one I bought to replace it.

  73. I love making breakfast for dinner! Baked eggs and apple dutch baby for dessert - yum! I have a few OXO gadgets and they really are good! Sturdy, functional and cute - what more could you ask for from a dish brush or potato peeler?

  74. My favorite breakfast food is when my father-in-law makes his famous German Pancakes with fresh bananas and strawberries and real maple syrup! It's about time I get the recipe from him. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  75. Can't miss with Krusteaz's mixes, but the following makes a yummy crepe-like Zucchini Pancake too:

    2 cups finely shredded fresh Zucchini
    4 large eggs, beaten
    3/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 teasp. granulated sugar
    1/2 teasp. salt
    3 Tblsps. vegetable oil
    4 teasps. baking powder

    Beat eggs; add shredded zucchini; mix well with fork.
    Add flour, sugar, salt, and oil--stir well to blend.
    Finally, add baking powder and mix. (Should look like the consistency of heavy whipping cream.)

    Spoon about 2 Tblsps. batter onto hot griddle and cook until bubbles on top of pancake almost stop. Flip to cook other side.

    Rub finished pancakes with butter. Serve with choice of jams or syrups.

    ENJOY!

  76. We have breakfast for dinner at least once a month. In fact we had it just last week. Hubby made whole grain banana nut pancakes this time and they were yummy! I'm not sure where the recipe is right now but if you want it I'll look it up for you.

  77. I'm not very creative so I just use the recipe off the box and add nuts and banana's or chocolate chips. I love OXO products and already have several of them.

  78. Seeing these great tools has inspired me to skip the boring cereal routine and to treat myself to some pancakes- with fresh fruit, of course!

  79. My super awesome husband makes his own special waffles from scratch. They are whole wheat and also have flax seed in them so they are supposed to be healthier. I must say...they are really REALLY yummy and even yummier because he makes them for me :-) (he is a WAY better cook than I am!).

    I don't own any OXO products, but my Mom does and she loves them!!

    Hmmm...now I really want waffles for supper...

  80. I like "Krusteaz" Pancake mix and add my own Fruit. What i really like is adding Orange Zest to the Batter -yummmmm :)
    thanks for this great contest !

  81. This is such a great prize! I usually make pancakes from a box...but this would inspire me to make some from scratch!

  82. There's a great place in Gatlinburg that makes the most wonderful homemade waffles with blueberries and powdered sugar. Mmmmm Can't remember the name of the place, but people line up outside to get in.

  83. My kids love "smashed" bananas in the waffle mix.

    We love oxo products we have a few of their kitchen gadgets and they have out lasted most other brands we own with no signs of dulling or breaking.

  84. I really appreciate the designe considerations of OXO products. The have made kitchen tasks much easier for my mom because of the size and softness of the handles.

  85. I wish I'd started out with everything OXO! I have a few pieces now, and they are my absolute favorite cooking utensils. My next big breakfast project is going to be aebelskiver, Danish filled pancake puffs. I've already bought the special pan and I'm just trying to work up my confidence. That balloon whisk would sure come in handy for whipping the egg whites I'll need.

  86. I love banana walnut pancakes. A few days ago, my fiance bought a waffle maker and we've been using Bisquick to make waffles. They're delicious!

  87. Since having my daughter, I try to be careful and not use any "packaged" mix as most are made with bleached flour.... yuck. Homemade is the way to go....

  88. I too have relied on Bisquick for too long when making pancakes and haven't found the right recipe either. Lynn's above looks pretty good and I may have to try it. OXO products are wonderful and I'd love to win these. Thank you for the great giveaway!

  89. I like the Krusteaz brand of Pancake mix. I usually add my own extras, fresh blueberries, banana's, and even choc chips sometimes. OXO makes very good and lasting products too.

  90. I am a big fan of breakfast for dinner! =)
    We love to do pancakes and occasionally I'll throw in a few chocolate chips as a special treat. The kids love this!

  91. I have to admit that I'm a Krusteaz girl myself. I pay attention to the toppings, making berry compotes, stewed fruit or honey butter from scratch.

  92. I would love to win these. My favorite dinner/breakfast is waffles with bacon in them. You cook the bacon part of the way and then lay the strips across the batter and cook as you do. What a great meal with your fruit as a side. Have a wonderful time.

  93. My family just loves breakfast for dinner! Its a great time to get all the kids involved in cooking or on busy nights when you have to have something fast and keeps you out of the drive-thru!

  94. These OXO items are awesome! I've yet to own any yet. These pieces would be so helpful in my kitchen. I like the fact that OXO products are high quality therefore they will last long and I wont have to worry about replacing the items. Thanks so much!

  95. I usually just use a box mix for pancakes. Sometimes the mix I get includes blueberries or I may add chocolate chips.

  96. My favorite type of pancakes is made with a can of corn. After you pour the batter in the pan, sprinkle them with kernels of corn instead of blueberries. When I was little my dad would make these for me (my mom wouldn't eat them because she didn't like corn.)

  97. My husband is the pancake/waffle maker in our house. He is constantly experimenting with recipes. My favorite so far are the pancakes that he makes where he incorporates the maple syrup right into the pancakes so you don't need the stick stuff on top.

  98. I usually use Bisquick and add seasonal ingredients like canned pumpkin and pumpkin spice, berries, apples and such. I agree with so many of the previous posts, OXO product are great!

  99. Mmm, I love breakfast for dinner! It's quick, healthier than takeout, and nice to change things up every so often. I sometimes make breakfast burritos for dinner: a little bit of lean sausage, some eggs, a little bit of cheese, and hashbrowns or potatoes of some sort with seasoning, all wrapped up in a tortilla. Yum!

    Also, I love Oxo products. When we registered for our wedding we got some, but I don't have any of the ones you showed off. I'd love to add them to my collection! :)

  100. We love waffles at our house. My kids make a basic waffle and add strawberries and whipped cream. I have many OXO utensils and love them. The ice scoop is probably my favorite.

  101. OXO products are worth EVERY cent!! They are effective and long lasting. They are a great value. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

    I learned a trick at a winery to use dessert wine on pancakes instead of syrup. Not for the kiddies of course, but the young at heart may enjoy giving it a whirl

  102. The Everyday Kitchen Tool Set immediately caught my eye!! It's so chic and shiny and attractive-looking! Thank you for the contest!

  103. The products are well made and stand up to use. I like that they make more than just kitchen accessories, but items for every room.

  104. I use the recipe on the box of Bisquick for pancakes and waffles , but I agree that Krusteaz brand mixes are awesome (I use the Pecan Bar one a lot).

  105. We love breakfast for dinner. In fact that is on the menu plan for tonight. Hubs like waffles, I prefer pancakes but either way I can't wait. We are out of the box people right now. He likes regular mix but I loved this buckwheat mix I got a while back. It's gone now and we replaced it with some type of whole grain mix. Hope it's good!

    Oh and I like my waffles with peanut/Almond butter, greek yogurt, blueberry fruit spread and banana. YUM!

  106. I use the recipe on the side of the Healthy Heart Bisquick box. I add fresh fruit and whipped cream. It's sooo great!

  107. I love OXO products...I am adding OXO items to my collection one at a time...but I haven't found one yet I didn't like. These in the giveaway would be great additions.

  108. My husband loves making pancakes. I don't know the exact recipe (that's in his head!), but it's pretty simple and vegan. We use soy milk instead of cow's milk and bananas instead of eggs. They always turn out so nice and fluffy.

  109. My husband loves making pancakes. I don't know the exact recipe, but it's pretty simple and vegan. We use soy milk instead of cow's milk and bananas instead of eggs. They always turn out so nice and fluffy.

  110. My husband is definitely the breakfast food champ of the house. My favorite pancake recipe would have to be his banana-walnut pancakes. I'm not sure exactly what he does to make them, but I know I love them!

  111. I like pancakes from scratch buttermilk batter topped with natural peanut butter and real maple syrup. OXO products are simply the best. Thanks for the giveawy.

  112. We love pancakes, my 16 year old loves to make them, she starts with a mix but loves to add fruit or chocolate chips!

  113. When I was growing up, my best friend's family frequently had waffles for supper! I always loved it! And, they offered lots of different toppings. My fave was cherry pie filling and whipped cream. Yum! :)

  114. OK! I'll admit I use Mrs. Butterworth's mix! I confess! But it's really good too. I love OXO products. They are top quality and last FOREVER. Count me in.

  115. I have never tried OXO products, but would love to. I love blueberry pancakes or banana with walnut pancakes, especially with whole wheat pancake batter!

  116. We love the OXO product line. We have a number of products and they are made so well. The price is reasonable and you know that you are getting a quality product.
    Thanks so much.

  117. Love breakfast for dinner -- favorite of everyone but hubby, so when he is traveling :)

    I love OXO handles -- make is so easy to hold.

    Favorite hands-down the whisk. Just heavy enough.

    Thanks

  118. My children and I started enjoying "upside-down night" when they went through a particularly "picky eating" phase. It was a fun way for them to get all their vitamins, fruits, etc.! Happy Face Pancakes were always a favorite! :-)

  120. I love to mix fresh or canned fruit into my pancake batter. This makes pancakes so different and exciting for the family.

  121. I love breakfast for dinner. I make some weird waffles sometimes but they are good. I will cook up some bacon or ground pork sausage and maybe some herbs like sage, rosemary, thyme and mix it in the waffle batter. It makes for some good savory waffles. If you get crazy you can put syrup on it but I just use butter. YUM

  122. I love making and eating breakfast for dinner! Especially waffles. Homemade waffles and even pancakes seem like a lot of trouble to go through in the morning when you're trying to get ready to be somewhere by a certain time. But at dinner time -- no problem!

  123. We rarely eat breakfast for dinner, well unless you count eggs (we eat a lot of eggs at our house!) My son loves to eat pancakes with strawberry yogurt on top of them. I love to get the Kashi Go Lean ones - pop them in the toaster, YUM!

  125. I make a really simple Swedish pancake, its so light and delicious!

    3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups milk 3 eggs 3 tbsp butter, melted, divided 2 tsp sugar 1/8 tsp salt
    Mix the ingredients together, Brush a small skillet with some more butter. Pour 2-3 tbsp batter into the hot pan. Tilt the pan so the batter evenly covers the entire surface in a thin layer. Cook 2-3 min. or until the underside is golden. Flip and continue cooking on the other side....Serve with fresh berries

  126. Do you know that breakfast for dinner is my FAVORITE thing to do? I could totally do an egg white omelette with spinach and feta for dinner any night!!!!!! Hmmmm....recipes....I do have one but it uses whipped cream and it's totally wrong....I'll have to find it for you and email you!!!

    For healthier, whole-grain alternatives, try Arrowhead Mills...products are sold at Whole Foods...

  127. I have loads of OXO products and love all of them! I would love to add the above items to my collection. I also saw new tool that will pit and halve a mango, how cool is that?

  128. I have some OXO products and really like them a lot. As far as pancakes go I really like just plain buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and when I am getting really fancy LOL I like to put some blueberries in.

  129. I think OXO stuff is great too and we love pancakes and waffles and I would love to win this fantastic giveaway, Thanks for hosting it

  130. I have no favorite recipe for either Waffles or Pancakes simply because I never measure my ingredients. I just mix self rising flour, milk, an egg and cinnamon to the right constancy. I do like to add diced apples, fresh blueberries or chocolate chips to my mix sometimes though. I love OXO items, I had the mixing bowl until my daughter in law pleaded with me for it (she called it my magic bowl..lol) so I gave in and gave it to her. I still havnt replaced it so would love to win this contest for myself.

  131. We really love to make homemade waffles topped with blackberry jam, homemade whipped cream, and powdered sugar. YUM!!

  132. I think OXO stuff is great -- well designed, well made, and easy to use. In fact, an OXO salad spinner is pretty much my standard housewarming gift, and everyone I've given one to just loves it.

  133. OXO are great products to cook with. They last a long time and make it easy to create great dishes.

  134. I love OXO!! I have their Santoku knife and I think I may actually be addicted to it! I use it for everything - even peeling fruit and that's probably not the best idea :)

  135. We use Krusteaz pancake mix & really like it. My granduaghters like me to add blueberries for their pancakes. I have several OXO products & like them.

  136. I was given a belgian waffle maker for a house-warming gift recently, so I've been on the hunt for a great belgian waffle recipe. I haven't found one that I love so far, but I'll keep looking. I'm a big fan of OXO products. I'm wishing we'd had that Mango Splitter when we lived in Texas.

  138. I love OXO products, especially a measuring cup that has the measurements on the inside at an angle so you don't have to hold it at eye level to see it. Krusteaz Belgian Waffles are our favorite. Thanks for the chance to win!

  139. I love their products..quality at an affordable price. I love the ice cream scoop-
    as far as favorite recipe- start with a basic and make it a pbj with peanut butter and jelly in between the layers

  140. After growing dissatisifed with my cheap, $1 can opener AND being frustrated with my sometimes-works-sometimes-doesn't-work electric can opener, I finally caved and bought a nice Oxo can opener. BOy, what a difference! Easy to grip, attractive, and quick. Love Oxo!

    Thanks,
    Megret

  141. My husband is the breakfast chef around here. He puts fruit in the pancake batter (just the Bisquick recipe), and they are fabulous pancakes. Thanks!

  142. I love making breakfast for dinner even though my husband isn't a big fan. It's a great price too. My favorite recipe is for whole wheat "blender" pancakes (you make it in the blender obviously). I've tried it with different kids of wheat and it all seems to work.

    Whole Wheat Blender Pancakes

    1 cup golden whole wheat
    1 1/2 cups milk
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    1 egg
    3 teaspoons baking powder
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 teaspoon salt

    Blend 1 cup of milk with wheat for 2-3 minutes add rest of milk and blend for another 2-3 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend. Cook on a hot skillet until done.

  143. I make a German Pancake that ends up at the supper table more than the breakfast table. It's nice and hearty, almost like a cake, instead of the kind that puffs then deflates.

  144. I'm a bisquick pancake maker. One thing my cousin does which is a great idea is slice cored apples, and dip the rings into the pancake batter and then place them onto the griddle. Pancakes with the added flavor of apple! Yum!!

  145. We love breakfast for supper too! Bisquik pancakes or waffles with peanut butter and strawberry jam on them with syrup, and bacon on the side! Id love this set of products, very nice quality and styling!

  146. I like banana pancakes with berries. so yummy! Good to start the day off!
    it's
    * 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
    * 1/2 cup sugar
    * 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
    * PANCAKES:
    * 1 cup all-purpose flour
    * 1 tablespoon sugar
    * 1 teaspoon baking powder
    * 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    * 1/2 teaspoon salt
    * 1 egg
    * 1 cup buttermilk
    * 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    * 2 medium ripe bananas, cut into 1/4-inch slices
    * Whipped cream

    1. In a bowl, combine the strawberries, sugar and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
    2. For pancakes, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Combine the egg, buttermilk, oil and vanilla; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
    3. Pour the batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto a lightly greased hot griddle; place 5-6 banana slices on each pancake. Turn when bubbles form on top; cook until second side is golden brown. Serve with strawberries and whipped cream if desired.

  147. OXO products are so wonderful when you have painful hands. I really like the can opener and screw-top opener - they make opening cans and bottles/jars so much easier.

  148. I love pancakes/waffles, especially at night! Since my pancakes are never round, my waffles lack thickness. This would definitely be helpful, considering my and my sister love cooking! But I do like OXO products, making life so much easier!

    texas_heartland84[at]yahoo[dot]com

  149. OXO products are great. I have several of their products, including a dish brush which I use daily to clean dishes.

  150. cups flour 2 tbs baking powder 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup of milk and one egg and 1/4 cup oil mix together . should not be completely smooth. cook in fry pan with little oil. cook on one side until tiny bubbles form. turn over and cook 2 minutes. eat with favorite syrup and butter. i like butter and sugar on mine

  151. Love OXO and love any cruelty free receipes that use rice, soy, or hemp milk instead of cows milk. The mothers milk from another species...blech!

  152. I have tried so many recipes for pancakes....homemade, buttermilk, Bisquick, frozen, and have found that the absolute best, fluffiest pancakes are the ones I make from the Original Aunt Jemima Pancake mix.

    I use whole milk, an egg, the mix, and vegetable oil. I let the batter rest for 5 minutes minimum before making the pancakes. My husband then butters each pancake lightly with whipped butter, stacks the next on top and repeats the buttering, then pours syrup over all. DELICIOUS!!!!

  153. We LOVE breakfast for dinner!!! It is always a big hit with the kids too. I haven't ever made it to the home-made ones, although you are inspiring me. We've always stuck to Bisquick (for pancakes, waffles too, with a belgian waffle maker). We usually load the pancakes up with blueberries on the inside. So yummy! I think they have some healthier versions out now too. Another non-homemade version, but have enjoyed some of the mixes from Stonewall Kitchen (the company owned by "Barefoot Contessa" and while pricey and only sold at certain places, she tends to use very healthy, real, whole ingredients.) As for OXO -- never have tried a product from them that I hasn't been a hit for us!!

  154. We (especially our 2 yo) LOVE the super healthy "pancake" recipe from the South Beach Diet book.

    It is: 2 eggs, 1/2 c oatmeal, 1/4 c cottage cheese, 1t vanilla, 1/4t each cinnamon and nutmeg. Blend and cook like normal pancake batter.

    This in an individual serving size recipe....and I am amazed when our son will almost eat a whole serving, that is a lot of really filling food for such a little guy. We top them with pure maple syrup, or sometimes fruit and yogurt.....mmm, I want breakfast for dinner tonight!!

  155. Our favorite breakfast for dinner treat is french toast from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. All of us love it with a home made peach syrup! Yum! I think that's what we'll have tonight for supper. I also use Krustez for waffle making. We eat a ton of breakfast foods here because those are things that the girls eat well.

    Thanks for the chance at the great products!
