Christmas Gift Guide: Gifts for Girls (ages 7-11)

Christmas Gift Guide Girls

Welcome to Metropolitan Mama's Christmas Gift Guide for Girls (ages 7-11). Below you will find clothes, shoes, toys, gear, games, and accessories that girls are bound to love for Christmas 2019.

Because we currently have two elementary age girls in our house (ages 7 and 10), I have an excellent "pulse" on what girls in this age range are most excited about. The below gift ideas are all items that I know my daughters would be thrilled to find under the tree!

PLAY DRESSES BY TEA COLLECTION

Tea Collection girls clothing

If you've been following my blog for any length of time, you know that I am a HUGE fan of Tea Collection. Headquartered in San Francisco, Tea Collection debuts new collections several times a year - each inspired by a different region of the world. My favorite thing about this global-centric company is the soft, stretchable, and lightweight materials used to create their pieces. Tea's dresses are not scratchy, starchy, boxy, or itchy. On the contrary, girls will love to wear these dresses to school, to parties, and to the park. In other words, they are made for play! Available for babies up to age 12 or so.

COWGIRL BOOTS BY JUSTIN BOOTS

If you want to get a pair of shoes that won't instantly get ruined by rough-and-tumble play, consider cowgirl boots. They are rugged and durable, while also being comfortable and stylish. Your daughter/granddaughter can wear them around the backyard, in the horse stalls, or to a birthday party. Look closely at the adorable embroidery on the Esmerelda Pink boots {pictured above} - colorful swirls, hearts, and crosses add subtle style and feminine appeal. These boots also come with removable orthotic inserts and plenty of cushion and support.

TRULY ME DOLL BY AMERICAN GIRL

Most girls originally fell in love with American Girl's historical dolls (Samantha, Addy, Kit, etc) and these remain my favorite for the stories that accompany them. That being said, I love what the Truly Me collection offers - a chance for a child to have a doll that looks just like them! With Truly Me Dolls, you can choose your doll's hair color, eye color, and skin tone. You can choose a doll with curly hair, straight hair, wavy hair, short hair, long hair, or no hair! After you have your doll, there are plenty of accessories to choose from also - everything from eyeglasses to wheelchairs! There are also three boy dolls available.

Pictured above you will find Truly Me Doll 74 - with perfectly coiffed blonde hair and brilliant blue eyes. His handsome face has a kind and friendly expression...loyal, honest, and a good friend to the end. His preppy striped polo, classic grey pants, and slip-on sneakers are in between casual and fancy so that your child can imagine him going almost anywhere.

HOW TO DRAW FACES BY FABER-CASTELL

Faber Castell How to Draw Faces

New from Faber-Castell! Kids will love How to Draw Faces, a beginner's guide to drawing faces. The kit includes: 15 colored pencils (with 6 skin tones), a mirror and easel, a skin tone color wheel, tracing and drawing paper, and detailed instructions.

CASUAL NO-TIE SNEAKERS

Even girls who know how to tie their laces love the simple ease and comfort of slip-on sneakers! We have two great options for you to consider for holiday 2019.

Scout Slip On Sneaker by Dr. Scholl's

Available in blush {pictured} and light blue, the Scout sneakers by Dr. Scholl's are easy to get on/off with plenty of style appeal. On-the-go girls will appreciate the Memory Foam Cool Fit Insole, which will keep them comfortable at school, on the playground, and at the park.

Kid's Summer Solstice Bungee by The Original Muck Boot Company

These futuristic slip on sneakers are in between a low top and a high top. They offer great traction and are 100% waterproof so these are an especially smart gift pick if you live in a wet climate.

  • Buy the Kid's Summer Solstice Bungee.
  • Follow The Original Muck Boot Company on Facebook and Instagram.

THE STRING ART DOT-TO-DOT KIT

String Art Dot to Dot Kit Thunder Bay

Consumable craft kits are among my favorite gifts to give to children for Christmas! They offer hours of imaginative "work," allowing kids to use their minds and hands to create something new.

The String Art Dot-To-Dot Kit by Thunder Bay Press comes with 15 cardstock templates (including an Eiffel Tower, Owl, and Butterfly), 10 colors of thread, a sewing needle, and a book of instructions.

PERLER BEADS

Throwback to your childhood! Perler Beads are still around and they are just as much fun as they were back then. Available in numerous color palettes, the beads can be made into numerous patterns and designs. Swans, hearts, ice cream cones, pizza slices, puppies, anything you can think up! Use clear pegboards to make your picture, then fuse the beads together using a wax paper and a hot iron (ask an adult to help!). There are even glow-in-the-dark beads!

  • Buy Perler Beads.
  • Follow Perler Beads on Facebook and Instagram (check the instagram feed for inspiration!).

NEUTRAL-COLORED BOOTIES

Short booties are a great gift picks for girls of any ages because they are easy to take on/off and a cinch to match with many different kinds of outfits. The Hayzel boot by Dr. Scholl's fits in this category. The dark charcoal suede is modern and gorgeous, and the design of the boot is adorable and stylish with a ruffled top and side zipper.

PAJAMA SET BY BASS PRO SHOPS

Bass Pro Shops 3 Piece Pajama Set Girls

NEW from Bass Pro Shops! Take a look at these soft and snuggly 3-Piece Pajama Sets. Affordably priced at under $25, these comfy sets are perfect for donning on Christmas Eve. As an added bonus, the button-up pajamas comes with a coordinating robe (with pockets!). Available in sizes 24 months up to 10-12.

CLOTHING FROM JANIE & JACK

Janie and Jack Girls Clothing Dress Coat

Janie & Jack has long been one of my favorite brands for stylish, of-the-minute designs for babies, toddlers, and children up to age 12. In fact, if I could outfit my children completely in Janie & Jack, I probably would. The preppy designs offer timeless appeal while still keeping close tabs on the new and the now. In the picture above, I've selected a few items that particularly caught my eye for holiday 2019.

GROOVE CUBE BY SINGING MACHINE

Sure to be the most exciting gift under any tree! The Groove Cube by Singing Machine is a portable karaoke system that you can take anywhere. If you know a child, tween, or teen who enjoys singing, acting, or performing...this cube will offer hours of entertainment.

This system allows you to either play CDs or stream audio via any of your bluetooth compatible devices. You can follow the karaoke lyrics on your TV screen with the included RCA cables. For added fun and pop, the cube is built with over 40 multi-colored LED lights that synchronize to the music. So fun for parties or impromptu get-togethers with friends!

CARD MAKING FOR BEGINNERS

Faber Castell Card Making for Beginners Kit

Faber-Castell's Card Making for Beginners includes 5 cards, 5 envelopes, 5 mixed media stencils, 1 sheet of transfers, 5 watercolor pencils, 1 artist pens, a paintbrush, a wood stick, and a design guide. With this kit, kids will be able to make cards for family members and friends for almost any occasion - birthdays, thank you cards, encouragement cards, even letters to penpals!

FIRST AID KIT

medipro first aid kit

Instead of buying a toy doctor kit, consider gifting a REAL first aid kit to the aspiring doctor on your list. Young girls will love that they can come to the rescue when siblings and friends need a splinter removed, a scrape bandaged, or a cold pack on a bruise.

FAIRY GARDEN STARTER SET

This magical gift set is perfect for the 7-11 age range! Elementary age girls will enjoy creating dozens of different scenes in the backyard and imagining the visits of fairies. Designed in the USA, this adorable 14-piece set includes a fairy mailbox, a tiny table & chairs, a flower petal bird bath, a leaf-roofed gazebo, a miniature door with stone archway, a friendly bunny rabbit holding a mushroom umbrella, and petite butterfly stepping stones.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

French Toast girls school uniforms

December is an excellent time to refresh your child's school uniform wardrobe. By now, some pieces may be getting worn from lots of washing and rough-and-tumble playground play. Although it may seem a bit boring, I can assure you that my own three daughters would be thrilled to receive new pieces that they can wear to school - skirts, shorts, skorts, sweaters, pants, or dresses. French Toast is one of our family's go-to brands for classic pieces that wear and wash well.
