Conversations about "Casual Friday" {brought to you by Jag Jeans}

jag jeans whitneyWhen I was working full-time, I always thought Friday was the hardest day of the week to get dressed. On the one hand, I looked forward to that day immensely because it meant trading in my business suits for jeans or casual skirts. On the other hand, however, I hated it because it was so hard to find something that was perfectly casual and professional at the same time.

It was a major dilemma. I certainly didn't want to look too casual/lackadaisical. But I also didn't want to isolate myself from my peers by being all starched and proper five days a week. My solution at my last job was to take my cues from my supervisor and dress the way she dressed.

She somehow managed to look pulled together - yet not stuffy - on Fridays. One of her "tricks," I came to observe, was that she selected high-quality pieces that were in good condition.

jaglogoThis is an especially important principle when it comes to jeans. They're perfect for Casual Friday. But they should be non-wrinkly, fitted appropriately, and paired with dressier shoes and a nice top.

Looking for just the right pair? Take a peek at Jag Jeans. Available at Nordstrom and retailing between $50-$90, the jeans are classy and cut for the office. I recently received a pair to review and, unfortunately, I can't exactly zip them up right now (I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant), but they appear to be stylish and made well.

YOUR TURN: What is your favorite brand for jeans? Have you ever tried Jag Jeans? If so, did you like them...or not?

P.S. Since we're talking about Casual Friday, I found the below outfit on Obsessions of A Virgo and loved it. But I don't think I would be "daring" enough to wear it. Your thoughts? Do you adore that look...or hate it?

P.P.S. I can't talk about Casual Fridays without mentioning Nell's incredible blog - Casual Friday Everyday. I love her blog title. That's my life right now too. Although casual usually means yoga pants and a t-shirt in my SAHM world...

  1. Those jeans look really nice, but I can't afford the cost right now.

As for the cute outfit, it's something I definitely would have tried pulling off when I was in my 20s, but not so much now! I'm 38, for the record. I feel young at heart but I don't think I need to wear that outfit, hehe.

  2. I just got a new pair of jeans from American Eagle the other day and I'm so excited! They're not mom jeans and that makes me happy. :) Unfortunately I don't get to do the dressed up jeans look at work, because on Fridays we have to wear our school shirts if we wear jeans. Plus, I don't have many cute shirts that fit well anymore (again, since Cheeks came along). I'm asking for loads of clothing and gift cards for my birthday!!!

Hmmm. The outfit? Not so much for me.

  3. Thanks for the mention ;)

I never got a true casual friday at my previous job, so I'm living it up now ;)

    PS
Hey girl, how are you feeling? Pregnancy update?

  4. For the past few years, I've bought a pair of "designer" jeans with money given to me for my birthday. That currently brings me up to one pair of Citizens and two pairs of Sevens, and they fit and look so much better than less expensive jeans that I don't think I can ever go back! I pretty much just rotate wearing these, though one pair a year is about all I can afford...

  5. I just bought my first pair of "expensive" jeans. I had a gift card to Macy's and ended up buying their brand. I bought two pairs because I loved the fit. I've decided the extra money was worth it, considering how good I feel in them. (This coming from a bargain shopper.)

  6. I haven't tried a lot of different brands of jeans...I do need a brand that makes longs or runs long, so I usually go with Old Navy Jeans in Long Lengths. I really like the Flirt line. They are much nicer looking than the price tag!

As for the outfit..it looks cute but I don't think I would wear it...NOt brave enough.

  7. As a working mom I struggle between my "work uniform of suits" and what to wear to PTA or even the ball field. I don't want to wear my work clothes because I feel they are work clothes.

I don't think I could ever wear the Obsessions of A Virgo outfit to work or play. If only I was that thin and young looking!
