We SANG "Away in a Manger" and "O Holy Night."

We READ the story - of wonder and mystery.

We ATE cinnamon rolls, eggs, berries, cherries, and oranges.

We OPENED gifts, but didn't go too commercial (as Charlie Brown would say).

Most of all, we were - we are - GRATEFUL.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

What did you sing, read, eat, open, and/or do?

  1. We read The Advent Book, as we have done every night since December 1. I loved opening that last door. We ate a lot...ham, turkey, sweet potatoes, cranberry relish and cookies. We sang Happy Birthday! It was busy and crazy (and now we are sick) but it was worth it! Happy New Year, Stephanie!

  2. Merry Christmas to you guys! Sounds beautiful!

We have Christmas Day in the Morning & I would recommend it.
the illustrations are lovely & the story is about giving with real love.

We set up a new block set for the kids to wake up to. And they each got one more gift. It was great.
then we piled into the car & went to my family's.
Our breakfast tradition is my dad's mexican chorizo. Super tasty.
We went to church that morning, which was wonderful.
Dinner back with the family was perfect prime rib.
After dinner we all play a family trivia game that Scott made up last year. It is so fun.
We are going to bring it down to play with his family this weekend, too.

    1. I admire your commitment to moderation. A "group gift" and one individual gift sounds lovely...focusing on family and fun instead of gifts. I'm sure your children will grow up with warm memories of love and contentment. I raise my glass to you!

  3. Sounds like a Merry Christmas! We sang Away in A Manger, Silent Night, read the Christmas story from the Bible, went to church, drank eggnog, ate Italian antipasta and prime rib (yum!) and lots of Christmas cookies and pies! Opened gifts with my family! It was quiet and wonderful!

  4. We sang Happy Birthday to baby Jesus, ate coffee cake, opened way too many gifts, took a lot of pictures and enjoyed our time together. Merry Christmas!

  5. Merry Christmas, Stephanie! Your day sounds wonderful! We had family over and ate WAY too much. We're still working on the leftovers. And then, we decided to start potty training. We are gluttons for punishment! However, it's going really well so far and we didn't have any accidents on Christmas!

  6. Merry Christmas to you and your family Stephanie!! We sang lots of various Christmas music via Pandora. We ate lots of yummy meals at each family Christmas (enchiladas, apperizers, and roasted chicken. Depending on the family Christmas it may or may not have been commercial. Our family (the 5 of us), were not too commercial. Grandparents don't always follow that rule! ;) We did sit around and visit, laugh, and have fun together as a family!

    1. I'm compiling a list of the BEST Christmas books for kids...and I am discovering that good ones are pretty hard to find. I just added "The Spirit of Christmas" to my library list for consideration. Do you recommend it?
