FOR KIDS: ThinkGeek

FOR KIDS: ThinkGeek 1If you are an engineer, mathematician, computer nerd, Trekkie, or bookish type - either by trade or by ambition - then you are going to love perusing the ThinkGeek ("Stuff for Smart Masses") online store.

This is one fun shop for intellectual folks...or those who wish to be.

As I scanned the ThinkGeek catalog, I found myself smiling (okay, laughing...) at all of the excellent geeky products and references.

I'm not sure if I fall into the nerdy category or not (If my sisters are reading this right now, they are all nodding their heads and saying that I most certainly do since I read voraciously, want to go back to school to get my Ph.D., and I get a kick out of playing Boggle...). Okay, so maybe I am a nerd. But I digress...

Anyway, here are some fun, educational, and reasonably priced stocking stuffers to consider for your kids this Christmas:

FOR KIDS: ThinkGeek 2Astronaut Ice Cream ($2.99) - Available in three decadent flavors (neapolitan, mint chocolate chip, and chocolate, chocolate chip), this freeze-dried ice cream may or may not tempt their tastebuds. BUT they'll love the thought of munching on ice cream that lasts for three years and that can be enjoyed in space.

FOR KIDS: ThinkGeek 3Glow in the Dark Mars Mud ($3.99) - This amazing substance stretches, bounces, and glows in the dark. If that's not instant entertainment for a child, I don't know what is.

FOR KIDS: ThinkGeek 4Rubik's Cube ($9.99) - Calling all brainiacs! This little cube is bound to keep restless hands and minds entertained for hours. Can you beat the current world champion's time (20 seconds!)? The only way to find out is to try.

And that's just in the Geek Kids section, my friends. There's so much more to explore for the adults on your list...

  1. Glancing at my husband's ThinkGeek wishlist, I see he would like the LightWedge Reading Light, which is probably what I'd choose. Tough call, though! Thanks for the giveaway---I confess we're ThinkGeek fans around here!

  2. I've actually had astronaut ice cream before and it isn't too bad. I would get some for my son and then let him pick out the brainiac toy of his choosing. : )

  3. I have three kids that this would work out great with. One is totally into rubic cubes but the other two are more into your chemistry and stars. Would love to win.

  4. Well Zack just told me 2 days ago that he needed a new Rubiks Cube, so since today is his birthday, I would grant his wish.

  5. I am a total geek, but I'm going with something different: Shower Shock Caffeinated Body Wash. I wonder if that works or if the fish in the local river would be affected more than me.
I'd also grab some Spazzstick Caffeinated Lip Balm.
I'd probably grab a usb toy or two while I'm at it. Fun stuff!

  6. My husband is always kidding me that he had no idea (37 years ago) that he had married a geek, but then we didn't have the great technology of today. I love it all, and spend a lot of time with my "geeky toys!"

  7. I would personally love the Luxeed LED keyboard. but, my nephew has been dying to play the Abalone game. Seems like something perfect for him too.

  8. What a fun and interesting site. These items fit my youngest son to a tee. The "Curiously Strong Magnets" look like something he would really enjoy!
Please enter my name in your drawing. Thanks, Cindi

  9. One of my Christmas presents came from ThinkGeek (my husband can't keep a secret, especially when it's the size of an R2-D2 Wastebasket). I love Star Wars, and they have a lot of nifty toys and collectibles. Next on my list - the R2 Peppermill and the R2 USB hub. $25 would really help justify the order.

  10. I might keep this one! Well, they now have kid's t-shirts, so I'd have to get my daughter a match of the shirt I already have. "Come to the dark side...we have cookies! --V" This got a huge laugh when I wore it selling girl scout cookies.

  11. All right...Geeks rule! My son is really freaky about magnets. He would love the Curiously Strong Magnets. That would put him in seventh heaven.

  12. This is a great gift for kids, young and old alike! I might put this towards a USB Rocket Launcher, or perhaps the R/C Desktop Forklift? There are so many fun gift ideas on here, I'd love to win and pick out something for my boyfriend! Thank you!

  13. Wow!! I love this site the only problem is there is too much I like about it :)!! The fish traing kit, the levitation wand, and of course the rocket launcher and for desert the astronaut ice cream I LOVE THESE and would love to intrduce these great wonders to my son.

  14. I think the cold soldering tool would be great for my niece, she loves doing different bead projects and working with different metals, it would be a safer way for her to do it..thanks for the giveaway..

  15. Hmm, I really like the mozart magical cube. It sounds perfect for my little one who already likes music inside the womb, haha.

  16. This is one of our favorite sites! I usually buy something every year from them, for my hubby and kids. I think I'd buy the Smart Mass Thinking Putty and the Singing Monkey Bars.

  17. I would get the Wooden War ENgine set and the bow and mallow marshmallow set. My brothers would love that and my son. THis is a neat site, I like places that you don't see the typical things for children. Thanks for the heads up and the giveaway.

  18. What an awesome store for the geek in me. My niece who is 4 would love the Catapult Kit or the Trebuchet Kit. Our local museum has a large trebuchet that kids can play with. She loves it.

  19. ThinkGeek is absolutely one of my favorite sites. They have the coolest stuff. I was actually just looking at their site the other day and laughing so hard at the "if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the precipitate" shirt. I LOVE it! (I used to be a Chem teacher pre-kids).

  20. I love thinkgeek! I have bought a few T-shirts from them for my super geeky computer science dork boyfriend. I would have to go with the New Caprica Cylon action figure this time!

  21. I think my son would love the optical illusion rulers....or the LED faucet light-- how cool!

  23. This is one of our favorite sites. The kids like to play with tangrams, so I think they would really enjoy the Fractiles Magnetic Tiling Set.

  24. I would probably buy the LED faucet lights. They are very unusual. I would love to have the virtual laser keyboard though.

  25. I would probably get the Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary...but I would need to look some more to see if that is what my son would like to own.
My son would dig this site...it is right up his alley!

Thanks for the chance to win!

  26. My husband recently brought this site to my attention when I asked for his Christmas list...now I'm hooked on it too. Personally, I like the cube people...they make me laugh and bring back memories of when I had a corporate job!

  27. Oh man, not another site to bookmark! Seriously cool stuff that my whole family would love. My son was especially taken with the Cthulhu Plush!

  28. I would love the bilbo imagination toy for my son. Sure, it's slightly out of the gift card range, but it's totally worth it.

  29. That's such a fun website! I remember eating astronaut ice cream back in the day. The R2 D2 backpack looks pretty neat (and I'm not even a big Star Wars fan.) I think my son would like the plush pirate set.

  30. I would love to get the The Bilibo Imagination Toy I can only imagine what fun games my little one could think up with this. Great website.

  31. Oh, I most definitely think of myself as a nerd. A cool nerd, though. And I hope my kids grow up to be the same, proudly. Can we please play with the Mars Mud? Now? :)

  32. My brother-in-law would love to see my son wearing the shirt that says, "No I will not fix your computer" since that's what he does for a job! And my cousin the science lover could definitely use that astronaut ice cream. Thanks!

  33. My P.E. husband loves solar powered gadgets. He'd like the Remote-Controlled LED Solar Spotlight. Also the Kill-A-Watt EZ looks very useful and might help use cut down on our energy useage. Thanks.

  34. I'm in desperate need of some coffee candy!!!! They have the coolest things there at thinkgeek...seriously, I love this place!!!

    Merry Christmas everyone!!!

  35. My husband would roll on the floor reading the Despair, Inc. calendar. I would totally hang it on my wall! And anyone who knows my daughter would crack up seeing her in a shirt reading, "Come to the dark side. We have cookies." She's a 3 year old star wars nut with an evil streak!

This is a great giveaway - thanks!!!

  36. I want the desktop carnivorous plant set. I'd also buy some owl pellets for my middle schooler. She just dissected one in school and thought it was gross but so cool!

  37. Oh cool, I love that site, so does my son, he's been wanting this capaulte (?) thingy they have, this would be great to win!
    Thanks! :)

  38. Oh, this is a fun one. Tough tough choices out there - there's a lot I would love to have! But the coolest thing I ran across was the LighTalk II. It definitely comes first on my list! (I can be selfish and not do the shopping for my kids, right? Though, truth be told, the whole family would get a kick out of the LighTalk II!)

  39. My husband does his Christmas wish list from ThinkGeek every year. At least when they get older, my kids won't have to resort to getting him a tie or Old Spice - they can just pick something out from ThinkGeek. LOL

  40. What a cool site! I think my kids would like a ton of things from there! I think the Optical Illusion Motion Rulers are cool! Great giveaway - thanks for offering them! It's been fun checking out all the differnt sites!
