FOR THE NEW MOM: On the Day You Were Born Necklace

FOR THE NEW MOM: On the Day You Were Born Necklace 1I will always remember my eldest daughter's birth with a certain fullness of heart. It was a momentous day, a magical day...a day that changed my life forever.

She took her first breath outside of the womb and I was forever transformed. My entrance into motherhood was pure metamorphosis. So much about who I was...what I cared about, how I thought about things, the way I viewed the world...was altered because of her beautiful face, her innocence, and her fragile strength.

FOR THE NEW MOM: On the Day You Were Born Necklace 2I love wearing my On the Day You Were Born necklace ($38) from Becoming Jewelry because it reminds me of the splendor of that day - of the horrific pain that wrought such overwhelming love.

New moms will love the delicate silver charms engraved with their child's initials and his/her date of birth. It's a lovely way to keep her child close to her heart...in a quite literal sense.

Becoming Jewelry also offers other personalized necklaces, charm necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and children's jewelry so feel free to shop around for all of the women in your life.

  1. A lovely and charming idea. I wonder if they do more than one child. How would a parent choose? I could go with my first born, but how would that make the twins feel? Then of course I obviously could not wear a piece of jewelry just celebrating the birth of one of the twins. I guess, should I be fortunate enough to win, I will need to be creative.

  2. These are really special and so perfect for moms at any age! That day was the most special day of my life, and I would cherish a piece of jewelry like this.

  3. It would be hard to pick which of my children's initials to put on this..so if I win..I am going to give this to my cousin who just had a baby after 9 years of trying!! I know she would just love it so much! Thanks for the chance!

  4. This is too cute! i would love to have this for my new little one that I am expecting this coming April. Thanks for a great giveaway :)

  5. This is so pretty! I don't know how I would pick which child to -- I guess I'd go with the oldest and then buy one for my younger :-)

  6. Your description of the change you go through when you give birth is right on. I used to say 'you can't describe it' - - but you've done a pretty good job.
The necklace is just lovely. Thank you!

  7. These are really lovely! My daughter and my two granddaughters (her little girls) were all born in February. The little one was born on my daughter's birthday, and the oldest one's birthday is 2 days later. I'd love to give this to my daughter...then order 2 more for my little granddaughters..all Amethyst birthstones! Aagh! 3 birthdays in one week!

  8. This necklace is so unique! It would be a great reminder of the wonderful day my darling daughter was born. She is so very special to me! Thanks so much for this giveaway!

  9. This is perfect. I've been looking for something for my daughter in law whose baby arrived on Friday 12/12/08. I know she would love something simple but memorable and I want to get her a keepsake as they are a young couple and it was an unplanned yet welcomed pregnancy and they don't have it in their budget for "extras". Even if I don't win it, it is reasonably priced, delicate, and simple enough to wear daily. I think of all I've looked at, it's my winner!

  10. Um, the site glitched in the middle of my post. LOL. Anyways, I love the site.

I have you on my bloglist. But for some reason, it is posting as my husband? William Moore? I suspect something is happening to my computer. Sorry.

  11. This is so pretty, and different than a lot of others I've seen. I love it! My little boy is due in May and this would be so much fun to have! Thanks!

  12. Since I only have boys and it would be hard to choose which one to commemorate, I would honor my first grandchild's (and first girl) date and birthstone. Thanks for the idea!

  13. I would love to win this, although I'm not sure which of my two angels would get to be on the necklace. Maybe I'll just have to get two! I don't have anything like this and would love something sentimental. Thanks!

  14. This is a really sweet necklace. Although I can't see from the website, it would be nice to be able to add charms for additional children.

  15. I hope I'll be able to supply a date before too long- my due date was yesterday, and my daughter hasn't made an appearance yet! I'd love to commemorate the event with this necklace when it finally happens...

  16. I have a friend who has a similar necklace and I just love it. It would be so special to have something like this to commemorate such a special day.

  17. Wow. That really is a sweet necklace. I had no idea that they days my kids were born would change my life so completely.

  18. Can you have two little charms on the necklace? So sweet, and more fashionable than some of the other cheesy mom jewelry out there...:)

  19. I like the hammered gold necklaces on the Becoming Jewelry site. What a great giveaway! The necklace would be a perfect reminder of my daughter's birth in July.

  20. We've been selected by a birthmother who is having a baby boy in mid-January! I'm so excited for a boy! I have a custom necklace with my daughter's photo in it, but this one is more simple, which seems more appropriate for a baby boy.

  21. I would love this necklace -- I'd like two, actually -- or two charms, one for each of my precious little ones. Thanks!

  22. I would love this for my dd she is my only child so it makes my decision pretty easy. I love jewelry that shows my love for her. Thanks for a great giveaway.

  23. These personalized necklaces are so unique and sentimental. The craftsmanship on these looks so beautiful, too. Thanks for introducing me to another great artist!

  25. that is such a beautiful idea...I've become a bit ridiculous with the mom stuff...if I find clothes with the word mom my son is forced to wear them...jewelry...I'll probably have it tattooed on my head (and aren't they supposed to be the ones to do that?) I love being a mom! )

  26. This would be such a wonderful way to remember our last child's (yes, I do believe he will round out our family) birth. He is about to arrive any week or day now and I can't believe I'm about to be a Mommy for the third time! Such beautiful memories.

  27. Oooh, I'm with Angie. I still wanna win, but I don't know how to pick which kid to go on it. Flip a coin? Whoever smiles at me first that day? :)

  28. These are so beautiful- simple but meaningful. I would love to have one with my daughter's b-day. Her entrance into my life has been utterly transformational as well. I can identify with all those emotions that you expressed so clearly. I can't believe that my newborn is a vivacious toddler.

  29. How adorable. I love the little birthstone bead. I wish there were a way to fit two initials and dates on it though. I don't know how I'll pick which of the kids initials to use if I win!!
