High-Tech Baby Gadget: Safety 1st's Video Monitor

There are many things that I love about our house. The "split floor plan" isn't one of them.

It seemed like such a great idea when we bought our house pre-baby. We knew we would probably have kids in this house, but we naively thought that it wouldn't be a big deal to walk down the hall to our slumbering baby (after, of course, he/she slept through the night each and every night without stirring). HA!

Fast-forward several years and we now realize a lot of things. One such thing is how scary it is to have a baby/toddler all the way on the other side of the house. Perhaps that partly explains why our daughter slept in our room until about age one. It just seemed calmer that way, more peaceful.

Now, she's 2 and in her own room. But we still use a baby monitor every single night. We like the reassurance of knowing that we'll hear every bump and whimper.

high-def color digital video monitor safety 1stAnd we like being able to "peek" in on her from time-to-time too, thanks to Safety 1st's High-Def Digital Color Video Monitor. The monitor currently has a 4 out of 5 star ranking on Amazon.com and is loaded with features including a 1.8" high-def color screen, a WiFi Friendly Digital 2.4Ghz frequency, and a Battery Conservation Mode.

PROS

This monitor is lightweight, compact, and easy to set-up. The handheld monitor is not bulky and can be easily carried around the house or out in the garage. It truly is wonderful to be able to "see" our daughter rather than just to hear her - it's nice to know if she's sitting up or if she bumped her head, etc. And it's pretty amazing that we can see her at all - since we keep her room pretty dark at night.

CONS

Although the monitor boasts that it is high-def, don't expect it to look like your favorite HD television shows. The camera works best when it's up-close and in the light (a crib with a dim light on is probably the ideal scenario). If you want a full-room shot or a shot of your toddler's twin bed, it still works...but the picture is grainy (in low light) and sonogram-quality (the colors are anything but vibrant).

OVERALL

Now that we own a video monitor, I really wouldn't want to go back to just the audio style. It's so convenient to peek in on our daughter from the next room. And I think having a "visual" allows us to avoid walking in and waking her up unnecessarily because we can see if she's just stirring in her sleep...or if she's wide awake.

  1. this would be a miracle to have, I have four children and am expecting my fifth...i have a 10,8, 2, and 9 month old with one on the way....I have always used hand me downs and after having four kids, I think for the fifth I deserve to do it right...not to mention that the kids (including the nursery) is upstairs and our master bedroom is downstairs....Please pick me, pick me!

  2. This monitor would be an amazing gift for me and my little ones. I would be so nice to be able to look in on them without having to walk across the house. I can be a worry wort and this would calm my nerves. ;-)

  3. We don't have a video monitor but it would be really really beneficial because we have a two story house...i think it's definitely for peace of mind, particularly when they're infants...I kept my son in my room until he was 14 months old but I think if I had a video monitor I would consider moving him at a younger age....

  4. This would be a great device to help keep an eye on my 2 year old daughter. Thanks for offering the oppertunity to enter to win this.

  5. We just bought a house where not only is our bedroom downstairs and the kids are upstairs, but they are as far apart as possible from us. I'm terrified for both my baby and my 4 year old. This would be the perfect item to keep my heart from jumping out of my chest all night long.

    Lee :)

  6. look pretty cool, it is high tech, and it lets you know whats up with your baby, the monitor could be applied to other areas as well, not just babies, including scientific research and surveillance

  7. Wow! great monitor, something like this would be great as my 1 year old is a climber and makes me nervous at times!
    Thanks

  8. This looks really cool, I haven't even gotten a monitor yet since baby sleeps next to me in his crib. This looks so hi-tech!

  9. This would perfect for my expecting sister. Even though the nursery is right across the hall, it'd be helpful when she's downstairs during the day.

  10. This would be great for watching the baby sleep. It never seems to fail that if I walk down the hall to check on her, the floor creeks and she wakes up. Thanks!

  11. I know its better, video monitor over an audio monitor any day. I love this gadget and you can get many years out of it.Thanks for this amazing giveaway!

  12. This monitor sounds like it would be wonderful to have. Just the ability to know that my little one is OK and that he isn't escaping from his crib (like I use to do) is great. I love the idea of winning this video monitor.

  13. I would love to win this digital video monitor. I hate opening the door to our daugther's room everytime we hear something on the audio monitor...we live in an older house and the doors make a pretty good amount of noise no matter how careful you are at opening them. It would be such a piece of mind to be able to view the monitor and know our little girl is sleeping/or is ready to rule the world. :)

  14. I know my daugther would love to have this video monitor...I would have loved to have one when my kids were growing up. The baby care and monitoring items they have today are way more advanced then the items they use to have.

  15. Right now we have a audio monitor and I always JUMP at the smallest sounds... Lil kiwi has medical issues so any noise and I'm busting down the door to check on her.. Okay maybe I don't bust down the door but dang that's about how I feel.... I keep looking at the video monitors and sigh at how nice it would be to just See what the noise was without busting the door down

  16. those look so awesome i had the audio monitor but this is the best product i have seen whoever thought this one up is GENIUS

  17. When did monitors become so sleek and non-bulky? That is like an ipod! Wow! This would be good for my little monster who started walking @ 8 months and running @ 10mths! he's now into everything and when I shout his name, all I hear is "huh?" and if he doesn't come I know his hands are in the toilet...again.

  18. I do not have a monitor right now for my little one and would love a video one and also a smaller size one..
I would love to use this for so many reasons...

  19. I could really use this. It is nice to be able to see baby without going into the room. Sometimes my son will wake up and play quietly in his crib. The moment he sees me open the door he starts crying like he has been deserted for all his life. If he didn't see me I could get other things done around the house.

  20. I have never had an audio or video monitor. I would imagine the video monitor does prevent many parents from going into the bedroom unnecessarily. How wonderful!!! Have you ever thought about using it later on to see what the child is doing if you send them to their room for time out? LOL Thank you for such a useful giveaway.

  21. I would love to win this for my son and my daughter-in-law. They are expecting soon and this is their first. It will give them a feeling of security when they are not in the baby's room. Thanks.

  22. A monitor would be fabulous for us! I have a young daughter and 2 step sons(twins). It can get a bit chaotic here trying to keep up with everyone! A monitor would be fab!!!

  23. I need this. I mean I NEED this! I too just bought a home with my husband and we have our room downstairs with 3 children upstairs as well as the nursery. It was the biggest and best space to set up for our daughter-to-be but it is a loooong trek from our master bedroom and I'm already second guessing this decision. Having this in my home could really put my mind at ease... Plus I'm sure little Paige will be happy to have mommy come running!

  24. I think its a fantastic way to make sure everything is going well in the nursery. I would love to be entered into the contest!
    thank you

  25. I always considered a video monitor a "splurge" when it came go getting all the baby gadgets and never really thought much of it, but I'll admit, you make some very excellent points on being able to check on my son without having to walk in his room. My son is a very light sleeper and I'm consistently waking him up when I check on him. As a mother, I worry about him constantly and can now see how this would be an essential item in raising children.

  26. we don't yet have a monitor for my ds, as he still sleeps with us, but this would be very handy once he moves to his own room in a month or so:) thanks!

  27. Very Lovely and who wouldn't want to own this. I wouldnt want to go back to the Audio style after having a Video one either so hoping to find out what that's like. And as you said it saves you from walking into baby's room and possibly waking them up so an all around nifty idea if you ask me. Thanks for hosting this contest. skyxsky27(at)gmail.com

  28. We, too, could have used more insight before deciding on our house - the master bedroom is on the main floor but the other two bedrooms are upstairs. Not that we don't ultimately benefit from the excercise, but our nerves could use a "pacifier." ;)

  29. I have twin 1 1/2 year old boys. They get into everything. This would be perfect for me. I am always running into their room. Yes the exercise is good, lol. But this would make it so I wouldn't have to run in their for every little noise I hear! Thanks so much for having this contest. I'm sure the winner will use this with great appreciation!

  30. Awesome idea; seems so obvious. We'd sure use this to it's full advantage with our 6 month old. She is just now learning to sleep through the night.

  31. When my babies were small, there were no monitors available--this is a great way to check on baby without having to sun to their crib each time to check on them!! (of course with all that running, and with 8 of the little ones, I kept under 110 lbs--)

  32. I would love to have a video monitor, it would make checking in on the kids much easier. I have gotten pretty good at opening their door and not making a sound, its always that creaky floorboard in the hall that gives me away.

  33. I love safety first products. I have a safety 1st baby moniter, however, it is the regular one that is sound only. My monitor does not help me because I would like to see my baby. great giveaway.

  34. This is a great idea for a prize! It would be very helpful to keep an eye on the little ones when they're playing downstairs in the game room and to make sure it's not getting too rambunctious. Thanks for this terrific winning opportunity.

  35. I understand what you mean about wanting the little ones close! Sounds like a great monitor. The video feature is really a plus, added safety plus not having to possibly wake the baby by unnecessarily walking into the room.

Thank you for another great giveaway!

  36. You may have some of this with your split level: squeaky floors -- which sometimes can mean you can't even 'nique up on 'em without likely wakin' 'em up anyway... So yeah, being able to LOOK and see that they're already awake, just being quiet, is worth MUCH.

  37. My friend is having a baby in April. This would be an amazing gift to give her for her shower. I know this would provide peace of mind for a first baby. Thanks for offering a great contest! Good luck everyone!

  38. When I had my kids, there were no such things as a baby monitor. My kids slept upstairs, our living room was downstairs...guess I had really good hearing. (Our bedroom though was near theirs.) I would love to win this for my daughter because her 2 girls now sleep in the same bed..what can I say, they adore one another!
This would be greatly appreciated by her to see what they might be up to!
Stephanie...Congratulations on your upcoming arrival! Enjoy!

  39. 'Awesome' giveaway prize! My wife and I just recently learned that we'll be blessed with another 'bundle of joy' this August and we could definitely use this high-def video monitor. Thanks for the great giveaway offering and good luck to all!

  40. Wow this is such a great monitor! And it's small so it would be easy to transport from my place to my LO's dad's. That way we wouldn't have to each get one.

  41. What a useful tool- so 21st century! All of the parents I know are often anxiety-ridden to leave a sleeping child alone in the crib, even with the help of audio monitors (and a bottle of milk!) I think it helps to establish a set nap-time for infants and toddlers in order to minimize any suprises (child waking up crying, etc.) Thanks for the entry!

  42. My wife and I will be expecting in 9 months so this would a video monitor would give us extra reassurance with our newborn

  43. I would love to win this monitor. I love Saftey First and am in the process of baby proofing our apartment with their products! Thank you

  44. Hi, I would love to win this, my best friend has a four year old and a 3 month old, takes care of her disabled mother, and has a very demanding job. This would be a great gift for her. thanks.

  45. Excellent Video Monitor, I've been thinking of getting one of these for awhile, just can't spend the money now. The safety factor is great. Thank you for offering this giveaway.

  46. oh my gosh! how cool, I would love to be able to give this to my girlfriend who is currently in the process of trying to have a baby for when she actually has it!! thanks!

  47. Of all the contests you've run (many great wants), this one is the one I truly need. I have been looking at this product, too, and the Amazon reviews. Great to see you review it! Thanks!

  48. With a bit of OCD, this would make me so much less worried and comfortable! Wonderful idea! And improved safety for baby is priceless! Thanks!

  49. My kids are no longer babies (5-year-old twins) and I think I need this more now than I did when they were babies. Their bedrooms are connected by a shared bathroom that they use as a passage way at night. I'd love to be able to monitor them now.

  50. WOW! What a great giveaway! I would love to be able to check on my son using this without disturbing him! Thanks for the chance.

  51. I currently own a audio monitor. I would so love a video one. My little girl is sick now and I went to check on her last night and she woke up when I went in the room. It would be so great to peek on her via a monitor instead of going in her room. So cool.

  52. What a neat thing to have for a new mom. I would love to win this to give to my niece who has a new baby. He is such a sweet baby and she is such a good mom. I would love to be able to surprise them with this nifty product.

  53. Not only great for the baby but as the baby grows. A must if baby has his own room. Great to peek in on an infant, wonderful when your baby is playing on his own in a secure area and you're busy elsewhere in the house.

  54. I've had the same baby monitor for 12 years and it recently bit the dust. My problem is not just at night, but during the day, because our house is all stairs and our kitchen is closed off, not open and I always have to run up and down the stairs checking on that little one, so I appreciate the chance to win something so awesome!

  55. Our first grandbaby is expected in May and I've already started decorated the spare bedroom as a nursery. The only thing is that it's upstairs, so a video monitor would save alot of step climbing.

  56. I could really use this to help monitor my father-in-law. It's not what you think, he's bed ridden now and we are taking care of him. it would make it easier to know if he needed help and he wasn't able to call out for it.

  57. We really need a video monitor for when our little one moves into a big girl bed in her sisters room. I need to make sure the big one stays in bed.

  58. Oh Wow, I would really love to have one of these monitors especially since we are expecting our new little one in about 6 weeks. Thanks for a great giveaway :)

  59. This would be great to have so I could keep an eye on my little one without always going into her room and possibly waking her for no reason. It'd provide a sense of security.

  60. Wow, I am so impressed with the features of this Safety 1st high-def digital color video monitor. I have a 6 month old daughter and 2 other young children and having this device in our home with give me such great peace of mind in being able to keep a third eye on my baby when I am busy dealing with my other kids in a different room! It would give me a little flexibility in our home to multi-task for brief moments of time, like putting a load in the wash, or bringing something up from the basement and also being able to stay on top of what is happening with our daughter. Time management has been an issue I have been dealing with this product would provide me with the sense of security that I so want in knowing all is well with my baby when I am not directly with her. I love that is it a WiFi Friendly Digital 2.4Ghz frequency, this is fantastic! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter.

  61. I've been using monitors for over 25 years. My daughter is severely disabled and still wakes during the evening. She also gets herself in precarious positions!

Video monitors are great because you can see if your child is in need of your help or is just experiencing mid-evening tousles.

The last monitor I purchased was a middle-end video monitor, but its picture is not always clear. A new one would be fabulous.

  62. I saw one for the first time this past Christmas at a friend's house. How nice it was to actually "see" what was going on instead of just trying to guess by the noises heard. At night, my friend also kept a few night lights on in the room which she stated improved the visual aspects of what one viewed on the screen. Good invention -- nice giveaway!!

  63. My son is two and I still like to check on him, it be nice to do so without the risk of doing it while he's in a light stage of sleep and wakes up! The safety factor weighs on my mind too, he's two and just starting to sleep in his own room.

  64. I would love to see if this could be used for viewing people at the front door after the kids get older. Always good to find additional uses for products.

  65. With Twins I constantly feel the need to run up and "Just Check" on them. Inevitably I make eye contact and end up in the room for at least 30-45 minutes. This is such a great idea. Mommy can see without having them realize they can be picked up!!!! YEA... Some down time! FINALLY.... If I don't win this... Does the winner need a friend? Have babies will travel :)

  66. This is perfect because I can peek in on my little ones without disturbing them (they have a very good "mommy sensor" and they wake up!)

  67. These are also great for caregivers of those with Medical Problems or Alzheimer's. One of our church members uses to monitor her mother that has Alzheimers.

  68. I think that this is one of the most wonderful inventions. Instead of running in on your little one with every peep, you can look and see what's going on. Check to make sure your baby is ok and safe and sound in their crib.
    This is wonderful!!!!
    Please count me in!

  69. My son lives 1200 miles away and sadly his neighborhood has become very crime ridden lately, their trying to save up to move. This would make me feel so much better if they had this monitor. That way my daughter in law could do the household chores without carrying my grandson around in a sling. Thank you so much.

  70. I would love this for when my son is upstairs napping. Sometimes I will think that I hear him and run upstairs only to find that he's sound to sleep.

  71. Technology sure has come a long way! With three levels to our house, this would be very handy when doing laundry in the basement to keep in an eye on the baby on the 2nd floor.

  72. Wish I had this when the kids were babies... I would love to win this for a friend of mine, Proud parents of baby boy 2/9/09. This monitor would be great for them.
    smh13033atyahoodotcom

  73. my daughter is due in aug. with her first baby. She has 50% hearing loss. I think this would help her with the baby. Plus she works 3rd shift & Daddy works 1st.

  74. I also thought that a video monitor was a superfluous purchase - but I think you have me convinced! I'd love to "check in" without waking the baby - we try to NEVER wake a sleeping baby around here. :)

  75. We have a two story house so this would be awesome to have. We just went through a week of my son being very sick this would have been great to have.

:) Thank you for the wonderful giveaway! :)

  76. I love audio monitors...until I read your review on video monitors. Now I want one bad. This would be awesome, especially the part on checking the kids at night without going in and taking a chance on waking them!

  77. The audio monitors were OK, but left a lot to be desired because the best way to check a child is to SEE the child. This monitor looks like a huge improvement and actually could have lots of uses long after the infant stages. Monitoring your front door, back yard, etc. Great product.

  78. I have a 5 week old baby girl with my girlfriend and she is the most amazing thing in my life. We have a monitor, but it is definitely not in the same league as Safety 1st's Video Monitor. It would be nice to be able to move around the house freely without having to plug in and unplug a monitor as you move from room to room. This monitor would make life so much easier for myself and my girlfriend.

  79. Being able to check in without going upstairs into the future nursery would be great! Some days stairs are difficult for me because of arthritis, so it would be helpful for me, but it would also be great to not worry about waking the baby up unnecessarily.

  80. I'd love to win this for my friend who, as a 1st time mom, will undoubtedly be very protective (some would say paranoid? lol) of her little one. And if she's anything like me when I had my 1st one, she'll find comfort in having this video monitor so she can make sure the baby is doing ok at any time of the day or night, without having to go into the baby's room and risking waking him up if he's asleep.

  81. OMgosh, I so need a monitor for our little one. We are going to be moving her into her own room soon, and this would give me the more secure feeling about having to do that.

  82. My best friend is about to have her first baby, and she is no nervous! I know this would be the best shower gift ever...it would really put her at ease. Thanks for the great giveaway.

  83. Man, I love technology. I remember when the audio baby monitors became popular, I never even dreamed of video monitors would soon follow. I think these are a thousand times better than the audio only monitors. Babies can be awake and not making a sound sometimes.

  84. this is the perfect thing for the toddler....avery is up and walking, playing, etc.... a great device for keeping your eye on your child.

  85. This is great! The ability to monitor and move the item throughout the house, instead of a stationary camera. The graphics are fantastic!

  86. What a great monitor, I have an old black and white video monitor for our new baby but the picture is terrible and the reception leaves much to be desired. A nice quality Hi-def version would put my mind at ease when I need to check in on my little one.

  87. I have a 4month old son and I have the old fasion monitor and wanted one of these but couldn't afford it but would LOVE to win it and use it! I would love it

  88. Wow....this blows any monitor we had out of the water. I can't imagine having one this nice. And it is the perfect gift for my son and his girlfriend.

  89. i hope i win this 1 because my boy is at that "let me see what superpowers i have" stage...climbing, jumping, testing...i need an eye on him at all times1

  90. Wow this sure has come a long way than the old audio monitors. I think this would help ease the minds and hearts of the new parents. I'm glad I know some new parents to be. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  91. I SO wish we had bought one of these when my daughter was a baby, but instead we just got the audio type. Bummer because there were so many nights when I just wanted to watch her while she slept.

  92. This would be great for my daughter. She is expecting her baby any day now. She works from home and this would be a great help to her.

  93. This has some really neat features, like its lightweight and being easy to carry around, and being able to see your child at night. I would love to get one of these. Thanks for the giveaway!

  94. Nice! My husband actually made a video monitor for us using parts from here and there. I agree, it's great to be able to actually see what your child is doing. Sometimes you need to match the sound to the visual! But the monitor camera was only ever perched on top of the crib, and as soon as my boy could stand up and start playing with the camera ... the camera quit working. Funny how that happened. A new video monitor would be great!

PS Remember the mom who got NASA video on her video monitor?!

  95. I have wanted to get one of these since before my daughter was born. She is coming up on her 1st birthday and is quite active even in her sleep. I tend to go check on her at almost every sound she makes and this would sure make life easier for both me and my husband. What a great item to giveaway!

  96. I hear ya on the upstairs/downstairs. Luckily, all our rooms are upstairs. We just got our 6 month old sleeping in the crib in his own room, so this would be a great addition. Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com

  97. I would have loved to have this when my son was first born because it drove me nuts having to listen to my cheap monitor and try to decipher a baby cry/ whimper from a fuzzy noise in the monitor! I would either keep this for my next baby or give this to my step mom who is due in May. Thank you for the awesome giveaway!

  98. Safety 1st -The only company truly concerned about the the safety and well-being of your child. Having a only son who is just 10 months old; Safety 1st will allow me and my wife to sleep better and know that my son, Adrian, is safe as safe can be- thank you Safety 1st.

  99. Wow how neat is that. I remember we were excited that we were able to sit downstairs and hear our kids when they were teeny tiny. Now they have hi-def versions

  100. I would like very much to have a monitor like this to keep a close watch on our grandchildren. We watch them on the weekends and this would give us a little more freedom and peace of mind.

  101. That looks like a great monitor. I could really use that, we are thinking about moving our baby out of our room in the next couple of months and my hubby really wants a video monitor when we do.

  102. Although my baby sleeps with us right now and I wouldn't need this for a bedroom I would find it very useful downstairs. When I'm upstairs and they are downstairs I have no idea what is going on. And most of the time I am in the same room with them but that can't always happen. I'm sure I'd find great use for this!

    Nell

  103. This would be so great for keeping an eye on my youngest when he is napping. I have to be downstairs with my older one during that time because he makes too much noise and wakes his little brother. This would save me many trips up and down the stairs to check on him when I hear noise on the monitor.

  104. This monitor will be great for baby#2. We loved to watch baby#1 sleep when she was small. Now we can watch baby#2 without standing over her crib.

  105. This monitor will be great at the grandparents. The bedroom is upstairs. The monitor will help us from running upstairs every time the baby makes a noise.

  106. My granddaughter is expecting her first baby in April and already she is nervous about the baby too far away from her at night. This will be ideal for a first time Mommy.

  107. i would love to win because it really would keep help easing my mind when i watch my daughters 2 month old twin girls...

    thanks ,great prize!

  108. I currently have a cheap poor quality camera in my 5 month old daughters room. I also have this camera hooked up to my sling box, so I can see her on my cell phone no matter how long my days at work are. If I'm having a bad day, I just check my phone. The only problem is that the camera I have is poor quality and its hard to see her. I don't want to miss a thing. hi-deff is the way to go.

  109. this is a great prize - we are expecting our first child in a couple months and i know being a new parent we will be a little paranoid about always checking on the baby and this monitor will be oh so helpful

  110. I think having safety devices like these are very important. And, it would give me peace of mind. I'm amazed how technology has changed over the years and this device would be great to own.

  111. This is such a wonderful idea - a video monitor. My niece has an audio monitor, but I believe this would be so much better. I believe this video monitor would give more peace of mind because you could see them and not have to run in baby's room every time you hear a noise.
Thank you for the great review and very helpful giveaway.

  112. This would be so perfect for my 3-month-old niece, as she is on antibiotics for a urinary tract infection and so more fussy than usual. She also is being watched, potentially needing surgery, for her bladder reflux . . . my brother and sister-in-law would be relieved to have this, I know!

  113. I have been considering buying one of these cameras. A friend of mine has one and she loves it! I like the fact that you can check on the baby at any it me w/out disturbing them and I also love that the picture is in color!

  114. wow what a wonderful giveaway, this would be perfect for keeping an eye on our new precious bundle of joy, she's supposed to be here within the next 2 weeks.
    Thanks for the chance!!!

  115. I love the idea of having the monitor, so I can feel like I can be on a different floor of the house, and still know that my precious one is safe! Heck, even if I'm on the same floor!

  116. I would love to win this. I work in the back part of the house which at the opposite end from the bedrooms. Count me in!

  117. This would be an invaluable tool for me to keep tabs on my toddler son without having to open his door and risk disturbing him.

  118. How great to have a monitior system where you can see your baby. This would be great for when we travel places too.

  119. My wife and I will be expecting in 7 months so this would a video monitor would give us extra reassurance with our newborn

  120. I would love to give this to my daughter. Her bedrooms are on the top floor, and she is always running upstairs to check on my grandchildren. It would be great if she could just check the monitor and get a little rest!

  121. We have three levels and our family will start in this house...it worries me too, thinking of two levels of stairs I'd have to walk up and down just to check on him/her.

Although I know all that walking would probably be good for me to lose the pregnancy weight!

  122. There is nothing wrong with monitoring your kids throughout the day. These are some of the best products out there and I have been looking into these for some time.

  123. This would be great for my sister-in-law. Baby is due next month, and I am sure it would be a great help to her. Thanks for the giveaway!

  124. I am really interested in this monitor. The playroom in this house is down in the basement. It would be great to watch the girls play down there while the grownups are playing games upstairs! And when they come with tales of she did this and she did that... we would know the truth.

  125. This looks great! We've talked about getting a video monitor, because our daughter is starting a messy habit of unhooking her feeding tube at night. We'd love to be able to keep an eye on her, but haven't quite felt compelled enough to fork over the $$. Thanks for the chance to enter!

  126. This would work so well on my home. I can't watch my baby close enough - or catch her on video. She's so precious

  127. this is such a great idea and so much better that the old audio monitors. with those, if you heard some noise, you would have to sneak into the room to see if they were awake, with this you don't have to risk waking them. thanks!

  128. We didn't use monitors for our older two daughters, their room was 5 feet from ours. Now, with #3 due and in a new house with the nursery on the other side of the house, this could become a must-have! Thanks! [email protected]

  129. since i cant be in the same room as my little one at all times this would allow me to go in the other room and still allow me to keep my eye on him.

  130. I really like the monitor. I just adopted a 2 year old son and I could really use this to make sure that he is safe when he's in his room.

  131. This is very nice! My littleone is 2 and I still leave the monitor on !! She seems so far away and I don't want to miss anything. Thank you for this great giveaway!

  132. This would be quite handy for when I ask the kids what they're doing and they say, "Nothing." They would think I really did know all and see all when I knew what they really were doing without walking into the bedroom.

  133. I always hated those audio monitors. The ones I had never seemed to work. I'd love to have this...I have a troublesome 2-year old who likes to destroy his bedroom when he should be napping. LOL

  134. Okay seriously - quit having such good giveaways!! It keeps making me jealous of all the stuff I want =)

I had wondered if these video camera ones were worth it - we just have a regular audio one we got at a garage sale and it never did work quite right - I'd still peak in all the time (and end up waking up the baby!) I would love to have this one!

  135. Since the technology is out there, it is such a good idea to actually be able to watch them as well as hear them. Sometimes I wonder what exactly my little guy is doing....a camera would be helpful!

  136. We're in a split-level, too, so I know what you mean. I actually still have a monitor in Roo's room, just in case she needs me at night! Technology is pretty cool. I know daddies are probably all over this one...

  137. My daughter could really use this she is expecting her newest addition on may 30 and will add another girl to the two she has. Great monitor to have for a new baby thanks for the chance to win!

  138. I would love this for my daughter. She has 3 daughters ranging in age from 6 months to 8 years. A monitor she could use for the baby would be great.

  139. This would be great for when I'm watching my grandaughters. Which will be often. Please count me in. Thanks!!

  140. With four children on two different levels of our home (and one more coming soon through adoption!), we have discussed the monitor thing at length. Currently, our two youngest sons are downstairs on the same floor as our bedroom, and we only use a monitor for the crib-bound youngest. It is a traditional monitor, but at least we hear when he wakes and cries since he can't get out of the crib to get us...yet! But when we adopt our daughter, she will probably be in our empty guest room which is on the first floor. We definitely want a monitor, and have thought about a video monitor such as this one. I think you make quite a good argument for it, and it would definitely be useful in our situation. Thanks for a great review!

  141. The battery conservation mode is a feature worth noting. You usually don't think about the batteries running out when you forget and leave the monitor on...until it's too late. I think it is a great concept to include.

  142. Wow! What a great give-away. I have never even considered buying a video monitor because of the cost. But I bet if I did I would be hooked.

We did, however, invest in a quality audio monitor that we have loved. It's made by Sony and I love it because it only goes on if a sound registers. That way we don't have to listen to static all the time.

  143. This would be fantastic!! I have a hearing problem and while I can hear a audio monitor, this would make me feel so much more secure. I wouldn't have to have the volume blasting.

  144. This would be so cool to have with my first baby. Being able to see baby would be help ease my mind being a fist time parent.

  145. I would love this for my daughter and new granddaughter, that way she doesn't have to open the door and wake her up if she's just moving around in her sleep

  146. This sounds just lovely. I am in the process of picking things out for my first little one and all of the choices can be soo overwhelming. It would be so nice to win...that would be one less choice to make :) Thanks!

  147. We just got this and are loving it. I used to accidentally wake her up when we heard some noises and I would "quietly" open the door to check on her. Now we just check the screen and if she is really awake then I go to get her. We are expecting another child in June and are looking at getting another one, or an additional camera so we can use it in two rooms. Hopefully we will win this one, then it solves that problem. So far we love it, as there is no static problems like some other monitors we tried.

  148. I need one of these! I just had my baby on Thursday and could really benefit from being able to see her while I chase after my other two kiddos. The peace of mind from knowing what she's doing would be wonderful!

  149. I never had the video monitor but I can image it does prevent many parents from going into the bedroom unnecessarily. We have been going without a monitor and many times I will check on Lily because she is crying loudly and I think she is sick or hurt herself - but nope she just wants mom.

  150. i would love to have this for my kids, our bedroom is downstairs from them and i constantly jump at every noise.

  151. This would be awesome to win. Right now we live in a 3 story townhome ~ and nothing related is on the same floor, so I am constantly running between floors for laundry, dishes, mail, computer. Having a quality monitor with a great reach length would benefit me and my peace of mind!

  152. I'm currently pregnant with my first child & I have to admit that one of the things that really makes me nervous about sleeping arrangements is the idea of leaving him alone in his room (we live in a two-story house)while I'm alllllllll the way downstairs, unable to hear if he cries.
I can see it now: me hovering outside his door all day (and night)long, taking my meals standing up, leaving only to- well, you know. A terrifying thought, no? My poor man!
In this case, an audio monitor just won't cut it. And to think: I wouldn't have to wake him!! Hooray!

  153. This is such a wonderful product and idea. I would love to win this for our 5 month old son. What a great way to check up on him, without waking him up.
Thanks so much for offering this wonderful prize!

  154. Oh, I would so love to win this! I have a 9 month old baby who's just starting to get around and a video monitor would be SO handy!! I would love to win this! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  155. I didn't think I would need a video monitor. But after my daughter was older (a year or so) and would play in her crib for a while before going to sleep, I realized how helpful it would be. Sometimes she would be in her crib for about an hour and then start crying. I often wouldn't know if she was crying because she had just woken up, or because she had been playing that whole time and was finally tired. With a video monitor that wouldn't be a problem.

  156. I have a old video monitor and it is so big and bulky. This one looks like it would be easy to carry around the house. I would love to have this for the new baby.

  157. Wow,I would love to win one of these for my daughter who has 3 year old twins and a new born. The moniter she has picks up sound from the neighbors so she can not use it. Thanks.

  158. We use baby monitors for both Blondie and Cheeks for the same reasons you do: the layout of the house and peace of mind. Plus, our kids don't get out of bed until we tell them they can, so if we can't hear Blondie saying she's awake and wants to get up or she has to go to the bathroom she'll just stay in bed and cry. Monitors are a blessing, and I would love to have the video one. Thanks!

  159. This is so much better than the monitor I had with my first baby. I could really use this to keep an eye on my little guy. He sleeps all night but I still don't because I get up to check on him at least once a night. Shoot, my oldest is 13 and I still check on her sometimes during the night.

  160. I would love to have this. When my baby got the flu (I know awful!!!), I was up checking on him every 20 minutes practically. With this I could at least watch him and maybe check on him every 35 minutes instead (smile!!)

  161. I would love this , our room is on the opposite side of the house than the kids. This would be great to check on the little one during the night.

  162. This is a great product. We didn't have things like this when my daughter was little. I have a niece who is about to have my first great niece. She is a first time mommy who is nervous, this would be a great shower gift and a great way for her to relax a little. She would be able to see baby anytime she wanted.

  163. This is totally on my list of must-haves for the next baby who we hope is arriving later this year. So many times I've wanted to be able to see into my daughters room instead of just hear! It seems like it would be worth every penny of it's pricetag.

  164. A clear, safe, way to keep an eye on your bundle of joy, while still being able to get things done around the house and yard. Love it!

  165. Before I had my daughter I thought this was a ridiculous purchase, of course now I really wish we had one. It would be nice to be able to "see" if she truly needs us or is just fussing and will fall back to sleep. It would save us countless times of getting up only to find she is actually fine.

  166. I think it is a no-brainer to upgrade to the video monitor if you possibly can, I can't imagine going back to just audio either. This way you know what's up at a glance.

  167. This would be ideal. After Eve's scare a few weeks ago I've been debating investing in one of these. We are constantly waking her up when we check on her a million times at night!

  168. Now this is something me and my wife could use. Our little girl is due around the end of April and the monitor we have is, let say, substandard (about as politely as I can say it).

Static cuts in and out of it so you can't really listen to it very loudly and the screen is so blurry all you can see is 'something' that resembles a baby in the viewer.

Despite the cons listed on this monitor, it sounds like it would be a tremendous upgrade to our existing one and a much needed helper when it comes to keeping an eye on our newest addition.

  169. Neat little gadget, I remember when the monitor was really big... now it will fit into your pocket. Whats next.... This would be a great tool

  170. I would LOVE to win this monitor. I never owned one, just ran up and down the stairs a bazillion times checking on the kids. This would really be an asset to our entire family, it would make me feel secure to be able to monitor from my main floor.

  171. I've always wanted a video monitor simply to see what the heck my little guy is doing in there. I remember with my first one that I wanted to know if he was crying because he was stuck or something or just winding down for a nap. My sister in law has one and she says it brings her piece of mind.

  172. This monitor seems really cool. I love the fact that it is so small. Other video monitors seem really huge compared to this. It seems like it would be a very conveniant way to check up on baby. Thanks.

  173. This monitor sounds great. We just have a sound only one and we are on pins and needles listening for a peep from the baby to infer if he is adjusting in bed or is truly crying. This would save time standing outside his door deciding to check on him or getting the mom worries and checking on him to make sure he's breathing.

  174. I used to think that a video monitor was just something nobody really needed....until a friend came and visited with theirs. It was really great to be able to peek in on the lo with out opening the room and disturbing her. We would LOVE one for our home!

  175. Wow what a cool monitor. I like the idea that you can peek in on your little one without disturbing them. I didn't like using the normal audio kind because each little noise made me check on my baby and then I would wake her up. I never used one again after my first! Now the video version I would have used! I won't be having any more babies, but I have friends who are who would love this as a baby gift!
