Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim - near Disneyland!

Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort Convention Center

Our family was recently hosted for a stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort Convention Center.

Opened in the fall of 2015, this hotel still has the telltale signs of a new property - a modern lobby, sparkling outdoor pools, and updated room decor.

At just shy of a mile away from the entrance to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, Homewood Suites is a super pick for anyone who is visiting the Happiest Place on Earth.

When you enter the hotel, you will be greeted by a contemporary lobby and friendly associates at the front desk. Cheerful orange seating arranged around an indoor fireplace draw you in. Young children are invited to pick out a rubber duck upon check-in.

GUEST ROOMS

Guest rooms are spacious and inviting with grey tile floors, neutral carpeting, and beachy decor. If you opt for a Family Suite like we did, you can easily sleep 6+. The room set-up has a King bed, a bunkbed (with a trundle underneath!), and a sleeper sofa in the living area.

As with any Homewood Suites property, the kitchen includes a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, stove & oven, microwave, dishes, small appliances, and a small eating space. If desired, you would be able to prepare your own meals with ease.

COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST

If you would rather not fuss with food prep, enjoy a full complimentary breakfast every morning between 6:30am-10:30am in the breakfast area. Offerings vary each day, but make-your-own-waffles, miniature muffins, cold cereals, oatmeal, apples & bananas, fruit juice, coffee, and tea are always available. On top of that, you'll find scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, chicken, potatoes, and/or hashed browns - depending on the day.

COMPLIMENTARY EVENING RECEPTION

The hotel also offers a complimentary evening reception on weeknights (Monday-Thursday). Each night's reception is themed - soup & salad, asian, burgers, etc. You can also count on beer, wine, and soft drinks on those evenings.

I especially appreciated building a big salad (with lettuce, celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, and ranch dressing) since it is often a challenge to eat healthfully on the road.

RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE

If you prefer to forgo the hotel's food, there are quite a few restaurants within an easy walk from the hotel. P.F. Changs, The Cheesecake Factory, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, and California Pizza Kitchen, to name a few. Of course, you can also walk to Downtown Disney - which offers a plethora of restaurants, cafes, and shops.

We walked to P.F. Chang's (a pleasant + short walk from the hotel) for dinner and enjoyed Crispy Honey Chicken, Chang's Spicy Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, and Chicken Lo Mein. A filling and delicious dinner! I recommend calling ahead of time to make a reservation. We opted for an early weeknight dinner and it was still pretty crowded. You might also want to sign up to receive the P.F. Chang's Preferred emails since coupons for free appetizers + entrees sometimes become available.

GETTING TO & FROM DISNEYLAND

Getting to and from the Disneyland entrance is a breeze. Depending on how fast you walk, you can get there in about 20 minutes (just under a mile). Better yet, hop on the complimentary shuttle - next door to the hotel! Super easy for the whole family. The shuttles run constantly and you rarely have to wait longer than 5-10 minutes...if that.

ON-SITE ACTIVITIES

After a long day at Disney, you can relax in the outdoor pool or oversized jacuzzi. There is also a shallow toddler pool (1.5 feet) for little ones who want to get in on the fun. Three pristine BBQ grills are in the pool area if you want to throw some steaks on while your family swims.

Adjacent to the pool, you'll find a small basketball court and a mini miniature golf space. Both are free for guest use, but are sometimes crowded with kids, tweens, and teens.
