I bought prenatal vitamins (the chewable kind)

I bought a bottle of prenatal vitamins at Walmart today. (Just in case).

I bought prenatal vitamins (the chewable kind) 1

Now every single thing I do, Tim says, "You're pregnant."

He said it when I ate a spoonful of peanut butter last night (but seriously - peanut butter is an awesome snack, am I right?).

He said it when I told him I was tired this afternoon (but seriously -  I DID stay up until past 2am last night).

Even so, I'm taking the necessary precautions. No more wine or soft cheeses or deli meats.

"I'm not ready to be pregnant again," I told Tim this afternoon, "but I AM ready for another baby." Our always-listening-4-year-old spoke up, "Yeah! The baby is the best part!" "True," I looked down at her - wanting to be sure that she internalized the right message, "but there is something special and important about the waiting part too."

A few nights ago, I was doing a little dance in the kitchen. (I break out into random dances quite frequently). Our 4-year-old suddenly said with a smile, "You won't be able to dance like that when you're pregnant!" "Oh, yes I will," I grinned back, "just like this" (and then I put out my hands around my imaginative belly and waddle-danced).

I might be pregnant. (Or, just as likely, I might not).

Since we're on the topic, what are your favorite products, books, or resources for pregnancy?

  1. SOOOOOOO...... is it a positive???

I love love love the Baby K'tan!!!! my favorite baby product ever!!!!! and sleeper gowns for newborns all the way up to 6 month Im pregnant and i cant wait to hold my baby. goodluck!!!

  2. My favs; Sheila Kitzengers Guide to Pregnancy & Childbirth- I wore out my copy, re-reading it with each baby : )
and of course Ina May Gaskin's books. Red Raspberry leaf tea- good hot or cold ! Stoned Wheat crackers for those early weeks and strangely enough, a new - happy pink or purple tooth brush - It always became a trauma - if I brushed my teeth I would puke and after throwing up anyway you always want to brush your teeth ......round and round went way too many days ......... At least a toothbrush that made me smile was a tiny help.

AND : we have a new fancy T.E.N.S. / accupuncture bracelet that seems to be helping some of our mommas without drugs ! I thought of you when Cece showed to me. Could help.........

    1. I'm intrigued by your mention of the T.E.N.S./acupuncture bracelet. What is the brand? Are they available for sale? I don't need one yet...but perhaps in the near future. ;)

  3. oh, i love it! the baby IS the best part.

and how sweet is your husband for being so aware, and ready!

and i'm all about breaking into spontaneous dance too. it's the best.

  4. The waiting and wondering is exciting. And, so good that you're taking prenatal vitamins already. I've had mixed experiences with those. With Levi I couldn't take anything (not even flinstones) without throwing up. With Sophia I didn't take anything until the last trimester. I think I wouldn't have been so tired if I had tried earlier. And, it was such a different pregnancy anyway.
As far as pregnancy stuff....herbal teas for morning sickness, red raspberry tea towards the end, and I highly recommend Evening Primrose when you are ready for baby to come out. The day before Sophia was born (we still thought we would be waiting another week or two) our midwife told me to start taking Evening Primrose. She thought the baby would come after about a week of that. A few hours after taking my first dose I was in labor.

    1. I'll have to keep your recommendations in mind. What are the benefits of red raspberry tea? I'm off to google it now...

  5. Oh, WOW! How exciting...hopefully.:) You know, we went to DisneyWorld the last week in Feb. for the first time. It was an amazing trip. We came home and found out 2 1/2 weeks later that we have baby #3 on the way!! I guess it really is the happiest place on earth.HA;) I'm due in Nov.! I'm following (sometimes quietly) along on your journey and loving all the ways that you guys are finding to give. I'm inspired! Prayers for your family all the way to the possible tiny new addition on the way.
p.s. It will be fun to read about all your pregnancy adventures while on the road!

  6. That's so exciting! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last few months, so I 'might' be pregnant as well. We're in that waiting stage, and I'm getting so anxious! If you are, I hope you don't start feeling too bad, too soon. That would be horrible to deal with while on the road, but still so worth it in the end. :)

  7. I've noticed that Tim has been doing all of the Give Every Day posting lately and was wondering if perhaps you were pregnant...but I knew it was also possible that you just split up the writing tasks differently. I hope that if you are pregnant you feel well...both for your sake and for others' so you can give as much as you like to! :)

    1. Although Give Every Day is still our family's project, Tim is now the "official blogger" for the site. He's shaping the voice and the content...and also pursuing the sponsorships. I'm super excited about the new layers of the site that he is going to be introducing over there in the coming weeks/months.

  8. Im really hoping you are pregnant :) We havent known you guys long, but I can imagine you being that perfect pregnant woman with glowing skin and a radiant smile. Fave thing to eat while I was pregnant was cucumber. Now I have kids that never want any vegetable cooked, everything has to be fresh raw salads. I cant complain really, but I loved eating them, just like an apple! Also I ate a lot of vegemite on toast. Not just because its Australian, but its amazingly high in folic acid. When I get some more, Ill have to send you a little jar. Well, my fingers are crossed for you guys.

    1. Cucumbers are a good thing to crave! I wonder if your kids picked up on your love of fresh vegetables while in the womb? I'm sure there's a correlation.

Vegemite. I've never even heard of it. Is it like peanut butter (made out of vegetables) or something? Googling it now...

  9. thanks for the sweet words of advice about breastfeeding...i've been bummin' that it hasn't been such an easy transition for me - but Clara and I will keep working on it. also - thanks for sending so many of your lovely readers over for the encouragement...nice folks you have around here Steph!

  10. How exciting!

Peanut Butter is an awesome snack no matter what! I am currently 25 weeks pregnant, I take the gummie prenatals and have to have tums every night. Oh! And since I increased my water intake I also love my brita!

  11. Um...YAY! Can't wait to hear the official news. Regardless, I am so pleased to hear that you are healthy and feeling good. And...if you are making a little person right now, I am praying (and I mean that) that this pregnancy will be smooth and healthy!

  12. What an exciting time!! Looking forward to hearing when you know for sure.

I loved preggie pops when I was pregnant & now have a recipe to make my own next time they are needed.

  13. How exciting for you and your family! I loved taking the pre-natal vitamins. I never felt healthier than when I was taking those throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I was such a geek in my pregnancy and read EVERYTHING. Looking back, I wish I hadn't. I wish I just would have trusted God more.

  14. What an exciting time of thinking about the possibility of a new little one! I'm with you on being excited about a newborn, but not so much about being pregnant. Not the first few months anyways... Can't wait to hear the news that #3 is really on the way for you, and hope the sickness is much less this time.

My favorite pregnancy things aren't really that related to pregnancy - I like accessories that make me feel "pretty" at a time when my body is going so crazy - things like fun dangly earrings, nice makeup, painting my toenails, etc.

  15. How exciting! I love that "am I?" feeling.

I too did chewable vitamins because about 3 months before I got pregnant I started throwing up my normal swallow vitamin and wasn't able to find another that I could keep down. I didn't even try any swallow prenatals. I love having a good lotion around for the itchy belly. Comfortable clothes - I gravitated towards skirts and dresses more once I actually got a belly b/c that was easier than keeping pants in place.

BTW - I love! your younger one's dress in the picture above. So cute!

I'm going to jump topics and say I have a new crawler and while I did the obvious baby proofing, he is showing me more and more things I didn't think he'd be into so soon. Any tips for a thorough baby proofing that might not be quite so obvious?

    1. That dress was from a bag of hand-me-downs that we were recently given (yay!).

Babyproofing...hmmm...my style is mostly just keeping an eye on my baby. Big sisters are great baby-proofers too. Our 4-year-old will say, "She just picked something up off the ground and put it in her mouth!" or "I moved that small toy to the counter so she wouldn't choke!" It's awesome. :)

  16. My favorite resource is your blog. Seriously, love reading about birth centers, babywearing, and your recommendations for baby registry. Also like Dr Sears site.

That is kind of exciting to be guessing if you are pregnant or not. If I had any doubts, I would get a pregnancy test from the drugstore same day :) Cant handle uncertainty

    1. You are very kind!

I am a fan of the Ask Dr. Sears website as well. It's a fantastic resource and I sincerely hope they continue to expand and update it.

  17. My husband likes to do the same thing. I have been taking prenatal vitamins since before I got pregnant with my first daughter, so I'm always prepared. Plus while breastfeeding it helps make sure I'm getting all the vitamins and extra DHA. Exciting that you guys will be expecting soon!

  18. Peanut butter is an AWESOME snack! I eat a spoonful of the stuff a couple of times a week :)

My favorite pregnancy thing was comfy clothes - I was so miserable I didn't care much how I looked, as long as I was comfortable. Fortunately the first time I was pregnant I was working and had to look decent so I was all set for the 2nd time around!

  19. Awww, how exciting!
I've never been pregnant before, so I couldn't tell you what I liked and didn't like about it. LOL But I hope whatever the outcome, you and your family are happy :)

  20. How exciting! I cannot wait to hear how this all unfolds :)

I wish I had a favorite thing for pregnancy. Unfortunately my two pregnancies have been the hardest times in my life.

    God bless you mama!

    1. My two pregnancies were actually pretty miserable too - especially the first 4 months of each. I'm not one of those women who "loves" being pregnant (quite the opposite).

That said, I am in awe of the miracle of life and feel privileged to be able to experience it. (I also can't wait to hold a tiny newborn again).

    1. What brand of body pillow did you have? I'm going to scout out the best one as soon as I am pregnant.

I'm also bookmarking that Postpartum Recovery Kit website for future reference.

      1. I just used a regular body pillow. It worked. I've heard lots of women speak highly of the Snoogle, but I didn't want to store it in between pregnancies.

And yes, that recovery kit is amazing!

  21. oh YAY - maybe! We might be too. Probably aren't. :) It seems to take us a long time... Or, should I say it seems to take us GOD'S time!
Favorite prego stuff - my curvy prego pillow for sleeping, and my Burt's Bees Mama Oil for rubbing on belly and legs - sooo wonderful!
Oh and it's okay to take prenatals for anyone in the childbearing years. Mostly they just have more folic acid than a regular woman's multi... sometimes some other good stuff too.
You didn't say how they tasted? I can't do chewable vitamins - have to swallow them!

    1. We're not...but it could happen anytime now. ;)

What is the brand of your pregnancy pillow? I think I might like to try one this time around.

I bought Vitafusion PreNatal Gummy Vitamins (and they're actually quite tasty!): http://amzn.to/hpzCad.

  22. What an exciting time! Even if you're not preggo yet, it's still exciting!
My fav pregnancy product was TUMS!

    1. Ah, TUMS. I had almost forgotten that not-so-pleasant side effect of being pregnant. I relied on those pastel circles quite a bit for my first two pregnancies.

  23. So excited for you guys...even if you're not YET pregnant. When your ready and waiting, another life will come to you. :) Can't wait to hear the news as it unfolds for you guys.

  24. So excited you may be! You will have to let us all know when you definitely are.
    Blessings,
    Joycelyn

  25. Too funny...I am still taking mine but have no plans on having anymore. This is perfect timing...you are 1/3 of the way through your awesome adventure and the rest of the math works well....
