I've got a golden ticket...to the Mom 2.0 Summit

golden-ticket-willa-wonka-mom-2.0-summit"'I've got a golden ticket
I've got a golden chance to make my way
And with a golden ticket, it's a golden day."

I put down some cold hard cash at the end of august for a BIG event taking place in the great state of Texas in February 2010...

The Mom 2.0 Summit.

The 3 1/2 day conference is billed as "an open conversation between moms and marketers." It's a place to "connect, converse, and build relationships" and to learn about social media, marketing, and brand building.

I am super excited.

First and foremost, I am going because I want to build relationships - to meet my bloggy friends and make some more. I can't wait to hug blogging superstar Susan of 5 Minutes for Mom and to finally meet Jennifer James, the founder of Mom Bloggers Club. And I'm still trying to convince Nell {Casual Friday Every Day} to come.

And there are others that I should start persuading too: Jenny {Mama Nash & Company}, Jo-Lynne {Musings of A Housewife}, Vanessa {I Never Grew Up}, Nicole {Momtrends}, Andrea {Momma in Flip Flops}, and all of my other "Favorites."

And, of course, I'm planning to have a rockin' good time (which, for the record, does NOT mean super loud music and too much alcohol).

If I could go to the conference of my dreams, it would include:

  • meaningful connections and intimate gatherings : Huge ballrooms with hundreds of people are okay for part of the conference, but that gets overwhelming and exhausting fast - even for a 50% extrovert like me.
  • line dancing : We will be in Texas, after all! I want a chance to put on my cowboy boots and hear some great western tunes.
  • a 5K or 2-mile fun run : I always enjoy running in new places. It would be awesome to race alongside my blogging pals. Actually, maybe they can race - and I'll jog at my 10 min. mile pace! Ha.
  • family events : I know people leave their families all of the time to go to conferences, but I just really don't want to. I'd miss my girls like crazy (and, besides, my littlest will still be nursing at that point). So, my husband will be flying out with me to watch the girls while I am in the sessions (he's the handsome, heroic type). I think it would be cool if the conference planned a few things for blogging families to do together. I won't be the only one bringing my family, right?
  • sessions on growing traffic, monetization, maximizing affiliate programs, using twitter to promote your blog/business, and SEO : I'm sure there are other topics that I would like to learn about too, but those ones come to mind.
  • downtime : I went to BlogHer 2008 in San Francisco and it was a lot fun, but I was pooped at the end of it all. I think this time I'll spend some time at the pool (will it be too cold to swim in Feb?) or in my pajamas with my best pals.
  • really good food : What's a good conference without good eats?

tony-lama-stars-boots-tan-cheyeneneWill the Mom 2.0 Summit offer all of that? I'm a little picky (obviously), but I bet it's going to be tons of fun no matter what. There are so many memories to make and so many friends to find.

I can't wait.

P.S. I'm currently looking for companies/brands to sponsor my trip. Learn more about what I can offer your company here...or e-mail me.

YOUR TURN: Are you planning to go to the Mom 2.0 Summit (or any other conferences) in 2009? What would YOUR ideal conference look like?

  1. I'm looking forward to your posts about it. Sounds like a great time! It seems like the best part of the conferences would be getting to meet so many wonderful people. There are quite a few ladies in the blogosphere who I'd love to get to know for real...you are definitely one of them.

  2. I went to BlogHer this summer - it was my first blogging conference, and was definitely an experience. I have heard so many good things about Mom 2.0 and am hoping to be able to make it there next year! I'll probably also attend BlogHer again if I can find a way to swing it, and possibly BlissDom as well.

My ideal blogging conference would have everyone I want to meet or see again in attendance. Plus lots of great sessions and opportunities to talk and get to know people better. :)

  3. Oh, how I would LOVE to be there too!!!

I would love to meet you and Nicole{momtrends}, and Jo-lynne....and lots of the other super bloggers you listed. Mostly, if I had the chance to go I would love to have great educational opportunities, great food, great swag, and great connections with new friends!

  4. Hi,
Thanks for the information about this event. Although it is highly unlikely that I would or even could go, it's always fun to hear about it from you.

Oh, and yes, the meatballs from TJ's are great.
And, yes, I love my smoothie's. I eat one daily. Sometimes I crave a little sweetness so I add about 1-2 tablespoons of agave nectar. Finding that sugar really affects my mood (lately)!
Hope all is well with you are your girls.

  5. Mom 2.0 is the one I really, really want to get to. I was so sad to miss it last year. Hopefully I will be able to dig up some sponsors. I'd love to meet you in person, too!

  6. I wish I could go...It definitely sounds like one of the more beneficial conferences....My little girl will be way too little...Just like you always say, there are seasons and at this time, it's just not the right season for us. But...New York here we come (all 4 of us!) Will you be there? I can't remember....

  7. I want to come too! I went to Blogher this summer and although it was fun, it was too overwhelming and way too many people there just for parties. (nothing wrong with that, it's just not my thing)

I like the idea of a smaller conference with more learning vs. just away time for mom.

Hmmm.....maybe I can convince my hubby to take us all there? :)

I'd love to go running with you in Texas!

  8. Haha - the pressure is one now.

I just wish one of these big Daddy's was in my area so I didn't have to pay for room and board and flight and all that jazz.

I'm still trying to get there this year, though. It's the only conference I'm looking into right now.

    Nell
