Just DROPPing in to Help You with Your Laundry

Just DROPPing in to Help You with Your Laundry 1Today, I'm here to help. No, I'm not going to show up on your doorstep and wash, dry, fold, and put away your piles of laundry (I know you were hoping...), but I am going to tell you about a laundry detergent that you might want to try (I'll stop "dropping" hints soon).

Toddlers (and even itty bitty newborns, for that matter) create laundry in monumental proportions. In fact, my husband and I are convinced that our daughter's clothing consists of way more than 50% of the laundry around here. Her level of activity is truly impressive - she's a little athlete, to be sure - and she has the clothing to prove it. We often change her outfit twice or three times in one day due to meals, mud, and mayhem. That's a lot of laundry! And I'm not even counting her PJ's, her sweatshirts and jackets, her socks, and towels/sheets.

Since doing laundry is a fact of life, it only makes sense to try to do it as greenly as possible. dropps has arrived to help parents do just that. dropps laundry detergent creates "happier clothing, easier washing, and a healthier planet."

dropps offers a "deep-cleaning formula" that keeps clothes fresh and is "gentle on the skin." It also is super convenient to use - just toss in pre-packaged little "dropps" and go - "no measuring, no waste, no problem!"

I tried dropps recently and was impressed. I liked the convenience and the fact that I was conserving resources (dropps use "less packaging and less water-per-load" than conventional laundry detergents). I have to admit that I wondered what exactly the "packaging" was made of - it looked like plastic, but it was dissolving in the water so I know it's not. Science geniuses and/or dropps representatives, please do explain this mysterious wonder!

There you have it. A laundry detergent that creates less work for you and that helps you take small steps toward saving the world. Maybe it's not quite as good as having me do your laundry, but it's a step in the right direction. Right?!?

You can buy dropps online or you can search for a retailer near you.

WIN IT! One mama will receive a 3-month supply of dropps (three 20-load packs of dropps = 60 regular loads). To enter, simply leave a comment on this post prior to Wednesday, Mar. 19, at midnight (don't forget to follow the rules). The winner will be announced and contacted on Thursday, Mar. 20. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

* UPDATE * The winner is #76 mommy. Congratulations!

  1. I detest doing laundry. To make matters worse I am constantly dropping the detergent lid into the washer and then having to fish out the slimy soapy lid. Why am I such a clutz? I don't know about happier clothing, but I;m pretty sure dropps would make me a happier mamma!

  2. I've really been wanting to try these. I love the fact that I wouldn't have to lift super-sized bottles anymore. I have heard super things about this product.

    Thanks for the chance!

  3. Now this is a great idea. Not just for home, but for traveling as well (which I do a lot of in the summer). Definitely interested in trying this out.

  4. I have no upper body strength and lugging around heavy detergent bottles is not fun, so I would love to try Dropps! And I like that you just throw one in -- no measuring and mess!

  5. Again with the stains... I'd love to have a great alternative to the harsh detergents out there. Thanks for giving a chance to try something new!

  6. Anything to make my life easier is great! I do have to wonder though - is there any mom out there for whom 20 loads of laundry is a "month" of laundry??? I wish that were true :)

  7. Because my boys have eczema, I have wanted to try this and see if it would help. I love how small they are and how little packaging too!

  8. This looks great!! I try to use as many natural products as I can. I even switched to cloth diapers almost a year ago...so I do a lot of laundry!!

  9. We are trying to "go green" in a lot of different ways. We've been doing well in the "food" category but we're still not as conscious about the other chemicals we use. We've been trying some "green" cleaning solutions for the dishes/dishwasher and general cleaning and even tried Method bath products. I'd love to try this since we too have way too much baby laundry. I'm glad that you found it gentle because my little one has very sensitive skin. I'm babbling...it's late! : O

  10. What a great giveaway! I've read about these and they sound awesome. I absolutely love the fact that they are single use "drops" so no more wasted detergent. also its greenness (is that a word?lol) is awesome too.

  11. These seem too good to be true! Do they really work that well? And the packaging is really more environmentally concious? I want in!

  12. Wow, you have so many comments these days! I am like you, I'm curious about the Dropps casing material. I do appreciate your review. Dropps have really hit the blog scene, and I'm glad to hear their performance is indeed excellent. Their footprint is amazingly slim! I'd love to try these out. What a cool prize for a busy, laundry-logged mama!

  13. I've started using the more concentrated detergent with the idea that I can use less but still get clean clothes. This means that I use less packaging. But this dropps idea sounds even better!

  14. Ok, I'll be honest here. I never heard of drops before, but after finding about them here, I really want to try them! I switched from regular detergent to Arm & Hammer Essentials, which uses natural products only and while I do like it, I'm always looking for new stuff to improve the way I do chores.

    Thank you!

My e-mail is in my blogger profile.

  15. I've heard really good things about Dropps and would love to try them. Haven't seen them in local stores yet though.

  16. I've been eyeing these on a few websites, but my grocery store doesn't carry them, and when I'm near the local stores who DO carry them it's never a convenient time to shop. I love the idea of saving water and ridding the earth of more plastic, so please enter me in this great giveaway!

  17. I've seen Dropps mentioned a couple times on various blogs and I'm very interested in trying it out. I, just lately, have been trying to become more green (there's so many areas to change!) and this looks like an easy way to be green. Plus, the bonus is that I can use Dropps with my cloth diapers as well!

  18. We just got our own washer/dryer, so I'm eager to try this. We have a cramped apartment so not having to have a huge jug of detergent is attractive to me, both for space reasons and for the environment.
    Thanks!

  19. Laundry is my favorite household chore, and I love trying new things. This product looks like the perfect way to combine these two loves.

  20. They say it is like those mouth wash stips you put in your mouth and disolve as far as the plastic packaging works. Just make sure to keep it sealed tight so it does not get moist! Oh, what a mess you will have if they get wet.

I have been wanting to get some since I am starting to gather things for my son to take to college with him. These would be great!

    Thanks and GLTA!

  21. I love that they save so much packaging and they're 6X concentrated where as liquid I've only found in 2X concentrated.

  22. Dropps seem like a great product to try! I haven't been able to find them in store yet- I'd love to try it!!

  23. I LUV that Dropps are a 'green' option for detergent and they also make the job easier!! What a great giveaway! I would LUV to be able to try these myself.

  24. Every little bit counts when it comes helping the enviroment. As a busy family of 5 I was a ton of laundry each day so I would be thrilled to try this great new laundry cleaner out!!

  25. Love to try these. I'm attempting to get help with the laundry...as in kid help. This would be much easier to handle than making sure they always use the right amount for the front loader. Sigh. I so more than 10 loads of laundry a week. Feel free to come and help as you originally implied. ;)

  26. I just walked past (okay, over) Mt. Laundry to get to my computer! I'm loving the reduced packaging - and pre-measured means a little extra time to play with my favorite little laundry-makers!

  27. Never heard of this product before but I'm willing to give it a whirl.
Please put my name in the hat for the drawing.

  28. these sounds so great with no waste and 6x concentrated. these would be really great for my family of 9!

  29. I heard of these recently from a friend, but haven't seen them in the store yet. It's a great concept if they work well. And for me, with twins, anything that helps with the laundry is welcome!

  31. Hi there,
I would love these to give to my Cousin who just had a baby boy on March 6th!
    Thank you for the giveaway!

    Artful Blessings,
    Kathryn

  32. I would love to win this product. I switched to this same concept in detergent for the diswasher, and it had made my life so much easier. I was constantly spilling soap everywhere. To not deal with this issue in the laundry room would be a dream!

  33. Like many previous commenters, I would love to try these. My 3 month old has certainly increased our laundry loads....

  34. I have seen this product travel through reviews on the blogs...I would love to win them to try them out! Safe for our world, and so useful, too!!

    Thanks for the giveaway!
    sharvey(at)connections-etc(dot)net

  35. I just saw these at Target! Since we are 'going green' in our family, I think I have to check this product out!

  36. My guess is they are made with a glycerin or vegetable based coating that dissolves in water. I could be wrong but that is what my tired mommy mind is thinking makes sense. My daughter out produces my husband and I on laundry as well so I know exactly what you are talking about. I would really love to try these out.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  37. i woul dlove to try these. they help save detergent. my kids have excema and everyone tells me how great these are.
    bwalleshauser at yahoo dot com

  38. My kids have super sensitive skin, once I started using these I am not going back to anything else. I think because it is enzyme free that it doesn't bother their skin! All I know is that I love this stuff.

  39. Oh man, I was really hoping you were coming over to tackle my laundry mountain! But, if that can't happen winning detergent, and green at that, would certainly help out. I'm thinking of beginning cloth diapers soon too so our mountain is about to double, or triple.

  40. I can never keep up on the laundry - or stocked up on laundry detergent... This would help a lot! :)

    debmomof3(at)comcast(dot)net

  41. Ive been trying to get my hands on these for a while. Great giveaway Steph! hellomary018 AT yahoo DOT com

  42. Somehow now that we've had the second kid I feel like I'm doing three times as much laundry. As soon as I finish the whole family's laundry, there's more lurking somewhere. Holy cow. This sounds easier than measuring and pouring, and it makes me feel good that I'd be doing at least a little bit of good for the planet (you know, after I've just used gallons of water and energy to keep my clothes sparkling...). Thanks! gumbi1313 at msn dot com

  43. I'd love to win this - I tried their sample (paid the s/h) and loved how easy it was. Drop and go. Thanks!

    cpamomva at hotmail dot com

  44. I'm another one who has been wanting to try these! Please count me in. Thank you!
    author_erin(at)lycos(dot)com

  45. This is convienent. They remind me of the ones we use for the dishwasher. Although they are a little more costly it's less to clean up and my dishes come out spotless. I would love to try these drops.

  46. I heard about this and how easy and convienent it is. I would love to try it and it would also help my family finace situation.

  47. I have heard such great things about Dropps lately...I would love to give them a try! I love the convenience and how eco-friendly they are! We ALWAYS have LOADS of laundry, so this would be a treat to win...Thanks for the chance!
    sblilly14(@)yahoo(.)com

  48. I love how eco-friendly Dropps are. With a baby on the way and a 3 & 2 year old we have loads of laundry! Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  49. I so love the idea of the darn detergent being contained in a little packet! Dh never seems to be able to do a load without spilling the soap down the front of the washer...a talent I guess... mengels[at]hotmail[dot]com

  50. I would love to try this in our efforts to go green-- and less space is a bonus too as storage is not overabundant in our condo!

  51. I love that they're high efficiency for my front loader and I don't have to pour anything and make a big mess!

  52. I would love to try this! I just bought a big thing of detergent today and it is such a pain. I would love to have something small and already measured for me. It would make life easier. Thanks!
    katebeth45 (at) gmail

  53. My family's laundry is amazing. I think the whole family goes through two outfits a day! Yikes, we could use some Dropps around here. Thank you for the contest.

  54. Drops sound awesome! I haven't ever seen them in stores - I'll have to check our your link-y and find out where to get some!
Yet ANOTHER awesome giveaway! On behalf of Moms everywhere, THANK YOU SO MUCH and God Bless You!

  55. How FABULOUS! I am sooo into going green. Okay, atleast trying to figure out in what ways I can be more friendly to the earth, our bodies, and our budget! The big bottle of earth-friendly liquid detergent I'm using now isn't too easy on the budget.... I'd love to broaden my horizens a bit :)

  56. I like the less packaging aspect of dropps since it is better for the environment. I hope I get to try dropps!

  57. I have really been wanting to try this, but it seems a little difficult to find in store. Soon I'll have to break down and shop online. This stuff looks great. No more measuring, which I guarentee I never get right anyway. While I can say I've never caused a suds flood I can also say I probably get less than 26 loads from a 32 load bottle. 26 would be lucky. Anyway keeping my fingers crossed.
