Pat-a-cake. Pat-a-cake.

My almost-3-year-old loves to bake. As do I. So we do it often.

Our three favorite recipes are:

The above three recipes are easy, fun, and super scrumptious. Plus, I think they're somewhat healthy.

Every once in awhile, however, we make something...not so healthy. Case in point, we made brownies on Saturday because "Pa" (my father-in-law), "Ma" (my mother-in-law), and "G-Mo" (my MIL's mom) came over for dinner.

Yum! They were pretty tasty. Especially since we underbaked them just a bit (that's the secret of brownie making, I think).

making-brownies-1 making-brownies-3 making-brownies-2 making-brownies-5

Some of the tools we used were:

scoop-it measuring cups by wiltonScoop-It Measuring Cups {by Wilton, $7.99)

The brightly colored non-slip grips are cheery and ergonomic. The spade design makes scooping ingredients a cinch. My one critique is that I wish the labels on the cups were just a tad bit larger and in bolder print for those of us with - um - less than perfect eyesight. Overall, though, I'm quite impressed by this stylish and happy set...and by the affordable price tag too!

scoop-it measuring spoonsScoop-It Measuring Spoons {by Wilton, $5.99}

These "super scooper" spoons match the measuring cups and are functional and fantastic. We use them almost every day.

The set includes 1 Tbsp, 1 tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1/4 tsp, and 1/8 tsp.

square baking pan by Pampered ChefSquare Baking Pan {by Pampered Chef, $12.50)

Here's a little secret I'll share with you. I have a square baking pan from Pampered Chef that is from their stoneware collection...and I don't like it. Even though it's almost triple the price. Stoneware is cumbersome - difficult to store, difficult to clean. But this heavy duty aluminized steel pan, sensibly priced at under $13, is a breeze to clean and cooks everything evenly too. Note that Pampered Chef does recommend that you dry it immediately after washing to prevent rusting.

We also love to use Pampered Chef's Medium Scoop ($13, ideal for mini muffins and melon) and Large Scoop ($14.50, ideal for regular muffins, cupcakes, and biscuits). And I've written about the Deluxe Mini Muffin Pan ($16) in the past (that may, in fact, be my very favorite kitchen accessory).

YOUR TURN: I'm curious. Do you bake with your kids and, if so, which recipes are your favorite?

WIN IT! One winner will receive a set of Scoop-It Measuring Cups ($7.99) and Scoop-It Measuring Spoons ($5.99) from Wilton. The winner will also receive a Square Baking Pan ($12.50) and her choice of EITHER the Medium Scoop ($13) or the Large Scoop ($14.50) from Pampered Chef. To enter, leave any topic-related comment on this post prior to Wednesday, September 9th at 11:59 p.m. (Don’t forget to follow the rules…all generic comments like “Enter me!,” “Love it,” and “Cool stuff!” will be disqualified.).

*UPDATE* The winner is #32 Ellen C. Congratulations!

  2. my daughter has finally reached an age where she can help me in the kitchen. it has been such a wonderful bonding experience for us and she's even become a more adventurous eater because of the exposure.

  3. We used to make peanut butter balls all. We haven't made them in a while. When we moved we lost our measuring spoons and cups. We could use some.

  4. The kiddos and I all love to bake around here! Can't wait to get the baby involved during the holidays this year. I'm a huge fan of Wilton and Pampered Chef already, so I think this is one awesome giveaway!

  5. We bake all the time and they love making cupcakes
    and brownies.I still have a hard time with the
    clean up.They love to lick the bowl.Decorating the
    cupcakes and brownies have to be the best part for them.We use sprinkles and chocolate chips

  6. My baby is too young for baking together, but I imagine we'll be baking cupcakes and cookies later on. I like Pampered Chef. I have the Medium Scoop for them, and it's great for scooping out pancake batter for silver dollar pancakes.

  7. My nephew is still too little to really help, but he likes to hang out in the kitchen while I cook or bake and play with measuring cups on the floor. One of his most recent words is "cooker".

  8. Sometimes, the kids will help out. We usually give them very simple chores like measuring sugar, flour etc. They have fun, and learn in the process, and get to enjoy the fruits of their labor later

  9. I must admit I don't bake as often as I should because I'm not much of a baker myself. But we do sometimes do it. I need some new tools and then maybe I'd be more motivated!!

  10. i love cooking and baking my kids love to help i have 7 children ranging from 2 thru 17 yrs. they enjoy helping me try new recipes and helping prepare family meals they eat more vegfgies this way. since they know they had a helping hand in it. i encourage everone to try cooking and baking with children they learn math as well while cooking.

  11. No kids to bake with but I always have help from my puppy. She is good with cleaning up the messes. She loves bananas

  12. i am getting excited that fall is here. I always do my most baking in october and then get ideas for the big baking time of christmas!

    nettysgirl at gmail.com

  13. My son is too young to really cook with, though he does go and get certain ingredients and he helps count when adding ingredients. and he already loves homemade chocolate chip cookies. :-)

  14. Thanks for the giveaway... I was recently tasked to babysit my 5 year old goddaughter & her 4 year old sister one afternoon, so naturally we made oatmeal-raisin cookies using the recipe from the oatmeal container; it was a hands-on endeavor for the kids & they made their cookies into animal shapes !!!

  15. I do not have any children, but I absolutely love to bake. My current favorite recipe is a family recipe for zucchini bread. So good!

  16. We are always cooking and love doing it. This would sure come in handy at our house. My son would love to help me create something with these wonderful items.

  17. Boy does that look yummy! We all love goodies but we really try to limit them, also. But these kitchen tools and pan look like fun to use and I do love kitchenware! Thank you!

  18. I don't have kids, but when I do I will bake with them. For now I bake with my boyfriend, and, when I have the chance, with my nephews and nieces.

  19. I have to say, I am not a baker>> even my own children will not eat anything I bake! At Christmas time I purchase frozen rolls of sugar cookies and I have great cookie cutters and do a wonderful job decorating them>> the children love..LOVE that>>they even show them off and give them as gifts! We cook together and all do well.
    For Mother's day they got me a cookie book so I will not use boxes and mixes (they think that is the problem> bless them!) and if I win this prize "I WILL BAKE WITH THEM"
    Thank You for the chance to win (my family thanks you too)

  20. I love baking with my kids, to be honest we rarely have the time to bake from scratch so its usually from a box or pull-off dough cookies!

  21. My kids are school aged and yes, we do bake. The hardest part for me is that they both want to help at the same time and then fights ensue as to who is helping "more" etc. We usually make cookies but also branch out into fruit crisps and fruit cobblers and the occasional cake as the need arises.

  22. My daughter LOVES to bake with me. We've mostly done drop cookies so far, but she also helped with a cake in a mug. (She also has a cool bake oven that she loves!)

  23. I love baking!! I haven't worked since November 2008, so I've got a lot of tim on my hands, and unfortunately inches on my waistline!! However my children are always happy to come home and smell some creation I've conjured up since they've been gone. I can't wait to throw together a new brownie recipe in that great pan!!

  24. I bake with my daughter. She loves cutting the cookies, so in the fall/winter we make lots of sugar cookies, and lots & lots of muffins throughout the year. Thanks for the fabulous giveaway.

  25. I LOVE LOVE to bake for my family. I'm always covered in flour! :) I'd love to win this set to try out all the items and replace my worn out ones!!

  26. I love baking with my kids, although they are old enough now that they can do it by themselves as opposed to being helpers. We could certainly use some new bakeware!

  27. My kids and I love to bake.They are are being homeschooled this year so we have been using measuring in our math.Thanks!

  28. Depends - if I'm in a hurry, no kids assisted baking! When we bake, refrigerated oatmeal cookies is our favorite!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  29. My son is still a little too young to bake, but he loves to watch. I set him in his Bumbo next to him and sing him songs as I cook. Lately I've been really into making muffins and he is a great taste tester!

  30. I have always enoyed baking with my children as they were growing up but we never got to do it as often as I would have liked. But now.....I have GRANDCHILDREN and what a time we have. We baked cookies and cakes, make candy and even dinner together...they love spending time with me and "creating" our master-pieces. Most of the time we don't even use a receipe...we just "wing-it". There is no better time for sharing stories..working out problems at school or with friends...our topics of conversation are endless I find out a lot about what's going on with their lives and they really open up to me.(their parents aren't around). They are 13 (grandson) & 8 (granddaughter). I'm almost 50 but this is the best time of my life and wish I had of spent more time with my kids in the kitchen 'cause I think it would have been good therapy for them when they were teenagers. So cookinbg/baking is not only for the food for they body but Food for the HEART. Love your web site. Happy Baking !!!

  31. I bake with my granddaughter, Shian. She just wants to help everytime I am in the kitchen. It takes extra time, but she is eager to learn and I am willing and able to teach. I am also trying to teach her to clean up after each baking.

  32. I have never tried the pampered chef products but I love to bake so I know these products would find a good home. It is time I start replacing some of my old stuff anyways.

  33. My 5 year old grand daughter and I love to bake. We usually make quick bread or a small batch of bar cookies. I pre-measure what we need and then she dumps it in the bowl as I read the recipe. Her two year old brother helps out by saying "stir it up" the whole time we are mixing.

  34. I do bake with my daughter. When she was young, I had her fill up the scoops. When she got a little older I would have her calculate the correct measure for a doubled recipe. Now that she's a teen, she does a lot of baking and I supervise. Our fave to bake is my great-grandmother's sugar cookie recipe.

    Thanks!

  35. My kids are older now so we bake most anything- some faves are cheesecake & tiramisu.
    Ian's been showing some interest so we've been baking with him and he likes to make things like cookies and muffins.

  36. Oooh, I'm totally going to try the granola bars, thanks for the recipe! After our recent big move, we need a few new odds and ends in the kitchen for baking. Yum.

  37. I love that you let your daughter help in the kitchen (as I see from this picture and past writings). One of my favorite memories is being allowed to help my grandma in the kitchen. It was extra special too, because my mom was an 'all kids out of the kitchen while I'm cooking' kind of gal (probably her free time/down time).

    Thank you.

  38. Mine love to bake brownies, peanut butter cookies (they love smooshing the balls of dough flat), chocolate chip cookie and the chocolate no bake cookies.

  39. I usually can't bake unless one or more of my children are here with me...This weekend coming up I have to bake a plethora of cookies adn brownies for a cheerleading bake sale.

  40. I do like to bake with my boys. My son's favorite thing to make usually includes frosting, so we do alot of cupcakes!

  41. I used to bake with my kids, but now my daughter has far surpassed me! I still like to whip up the occasional key lime pie, but DD is making birthday cakes that look (and taste) totally professional. She will take a shot at a wedding cake next year! She would love to own a bakery when she grows up.

  42. My son and I love to bake together. His favorite thing to make right now is Banana Bread. I try and let him do all the mixing and stirring. I love being in the kitchen with him. It really is a great bonding experience.

  43. Pampered Chef stuff is great if you have the money to spend on it. Winning some stuff would be awesome! My daughter loves to help me in the kitchen but I worry so much about her being near the stove that I don't get much enjoyment out of it :(

  44. I love the Pampered Chef. It's so much easier to focus on cooking with kids when you have good quality tools to do it with. It's so much more to stress about when you have to worry about stuff sticking, breaking, or just performing crummy.

  45. Mine is grown now but she still comes over to help with the Christmas and Thanksgiving Baking. We make the 12 layer chocolate cake and butter nut cake and redvelvet cake(I use the white mix and Pineapple Carrot Cake. These are traditions we do every year. I'm getting older so she needs to know how to cook these to carry on for years to come. We make brownies with walnuts to eat really often and need a new pan(and all the other goodies) in your giveaway. Thanks for the chance to win!

  46. I love to bake and cook. My 3 boys don't help to much. However, my oldest has started wanting to help to make some of his favorite things lately.

  47. I don't have kids yet - but for my kindergarten class, I really love to cook/bake with them! Just last week, we made "Puppy Chow" as a class.

    Melt peanut butter with choc. chips in the microwave - then stir in about 1/2 a bag of Chex cereal.

    Divide this cereal mixture into ziploc bags - and pour in some powdered sugar. SHAKE the bags! And, that's it! (SO YUMMY!)

  48. Sorry, baking with the kids drove me up the wall. My compromise was getting frosting ready and letting them decorate to their hearts content. usually I had one or 2 artfully intricate cookies then many slap dash ones.

  49. I am so with you on the peanut butter balls (or Buckeyes, as we know them in Ohio). I don't do much baking, but we do bake special things together around the holidays.

  50. I don't bake with my son, although we used to make cookies together. He's grown out of baking with Mommy and into sports...blah. asthenight at gmail dot com

  51. When I was 16 my brother was 6. I remember how much fun he had cracking eggs, stirring batter, measuring ingredients, licking the beaters and presenting cookies and pancakes to our parents. Mom showed me so I showed him. We are big people now. I don't have kids, but I he has 4 boys! They love to cook with Aunt Stacie almost as much as me. The twins require that there be extra eggs available!

  52. I have always cooked with my kids and now they cook on their own. My youngest and I love to make lasagna and enchiladas and of course brownies together.

  53. YES! I bake with my whole family. We have two favorites (edible and otherwise):

    1. Sugar cookies (we love to cut and decorate them)
    2. Salt sculptures - flour, water and salt, sometimes combined with food coloring, make a great clay to bake ornaments with. :)

  54. Those scoops look awesome. I don't have children, yet, but if I should ever find a suitable guy, marry, and procreate, I expect that we would bake together. I have baked with some kids I was nanny to before, but didn't allow them to do much since their father was a little strange and would have freaked had I let them do any more than I did.

  55. Lily is always in the kitchen with me but at 8.5 months old doesn't really help YET. But I can't wait till she can. Oh the plans I have for cooking with that kid.

    I agree underbaking brownies is key, as is a really good mix and I'm sure Ghirardelli's is awesome. I love just about everything else they do.

  56. my girls love helping me bake too. Our current faves are banana bread, amish friendship bread, strawberry scones and rice crispy treats (I know not baked either but they are yummy!)

  57. I love baking with the girls but have found it hard because I don't have all the right "tools" Samantha and Sarah both love helping in the kitchen It's fun and to me I feel like its bonding time with my girls.

  58. My 3 year just started showing interest in helping me cook. I let her break up the noodles (we call doodles since my 18 month calls them that) She breaks them in half and places them in water to boil and we make this oreo candy (melted white choc in microwave and she breaks up the cookies and we mix it together and freeze to harden) She also loves to make cookies. I just love our time together and it is so sweet watching them. I cant wait until little sister gets older to help also.

  59. I always baked with my children, now I bake with the grandchildren. Granddaughter is getting really good at baking chocolate cakes from scratch.

  60. I don't let my boys in the kitchen often, because they don't take it seriously...but I do let them roll the snickerdoodle dough into balls and then in the sugar/cinnamon mix. They love getting their hands dirty. Thanks for the giveaway.

  61. My girls love to help me in the kitchen. We are always trying new recipes out of cookbooks..desserts are a fave of course :)

  62. Our five-year-old daughter helps with putting the measured ingredients into the bowl. We pretty much bake and cook anything that strikes our fancy in one of my many cookbooks.

  63. I love to bake! My son is now away at college but he still gets home made "care packages" sent to him. I bake at least 3 times a week and enjoy sharing the goodies with my elderly neighbors who love getting home baked treats.

  64. I have two sons, ages 16 and 20. We have always enjoyed baking together and still do. We baked a cake last week and both wanted to help. My 16 year old loves to frost the cake and make designs in the frosting.

  65. Yes, I cook and bake with my 2 kids, 3 and 4 years old. They really enjoying the stirring, and counting number of eggs, etc. I call it "cooking school". And it is exciting for them to eat it after they have "helped". They would probably say decorating cookies is their favorite.

  66. My kids enjoy making chocolate chip cookies with me. They enjoy the stirring and my daughter just learned how to crack an egg.

  67. No, I don't bake with my kids. I'm usually in a hurry and don't want to double the time and the mess. I know I'll regret it once they're grown up and can't cook, but for now, it keeps me sane.

  68. I love making brownies, it's my husband's favorite treat! I always have to include peanut butter cups to make it better!

  69. I love to try to bake with my daughter, we mainly make things like cookies and brownies... but we spend a lot of the time trying to stir calmly so that everything doesn't end up getting pushed out of the bowl and onto the counter. It sure is fun though!

  70. I love to bake with my girl. My favorite thing to make with her is cookies and brownies. She loves to add different things in them to see how they will turn out.

  71. hmmmm yummm!!
    we do alot of home cooking and baking in our house. both of my older kids LOVE to help. My son is getting really good at cracking eggs and not getting any part of the shell in it. My daughter loves to measure and touch everything I touch.
    my kids also know exactly how to make rice. my daughter will get all the ingredients out (even if its only three things) and the utensils.

  72. I love baking with my kids. I have a 6 yr old and a 4 yr old. They are great ages for helping to bake. We love to make cookies that they can form into balls and also ones they can decorate. Although their favorite part is the mixing. They even like mixing the pancake batter for breakfast! :) What a great giveaway!!

  73. My family has turned the holidays into family baking time- I hope we are making memories that our children will cherish. My sister, my mom & our kids choose about 3 recipes each and just bake cookies all day long. The kids help decorate and we all sample way too much but it's so enjoyable to spend a winter day making memories.

  74. We love to cook together. Any kind of cookies, soups, salads...both of my kiddos like to play with the tupperware and wooden spoons on the floor while I am getting dinner ready. It keeps them occupied for quite a while. My 2 1/2 year old is pretty clever. The other day she put her wooden letters in a container and said she was making 'alphabet soup'. We love food in this house!

  75. I haven't done a lot of baking with my kids because my kitchen is so small, but we do make treats together. We like to make toffee bars and Oreo bark together.

  76. My kids are grown, but I still bake for them and send off boxes of cookies often. They really appreciate the home made goodness.

  77. The kids love to make home-made dog bones for the shelter dogs. I think they like all the fun shaped cookie cutters we use for the dog bones. We save some for our dogs too. They also love double chocolate chip cookies.

  78. I've just been thinking of trying to bake with my 2.9 year old!
    I think we'll give it a try now! These baking utensils look perfect! Love the muffin pans-- I need those!!

  79. I do bake with my older daughters (10 and 7). My ten year old loves to make turtle brownies and my 7 year old loves to make banana bread and pumpkin bread.

  80. Peanut butter balls are my family's favorite too! I teach in a small special education class and last year I invited parents to come in to celebrate their child's birthday with our class. No one responded to the invitation. So I decided to bake something for each student's birthday and they got to choose. So baking supplies would be of great help as I bake throughout the year for my students. Thanks!

  81. We bake quite a bit at my house. We make homemade cinamon raison bread, cheddar biscuits, and my kids favorite treat are ice cream cupcakes. They are cupcakes baked in ice cream cones so when you frost the cupcake it looks like a cone with a scoop of ice cream on top. they love it when I put sprinkles a cherry on top.lol

  82. Yes, we bake together. We love to make giant chocolate chip cookies, or rice krispy treats, or cupcakes, or just about anything!

  83. My daughter in law just asked me yesterday when I was going to start baking again. It's so hot in Texas that I don't usually bake during the summer. These tools, along with the cooler weather, would put me in the mood.

  84. I used to bake with my children at Christmas time. They loved putting sprinkles and such, on all the cookies. But now they have children of their own, and THEY bake together. Me? I'm just tired, I guess, so I buy at Sam's now. SHAME! SHAME!

  85. I do bake with my boys and they love it! We love to make all kinds of cookies (snickerdoodles are our favorite because they love rolling them into balls and into the cinnamon and sugar). We also like to make different kinds of bread like banana and zuchini!

  86. My daughter is just about the age where I can start doing easy baking with her. These products would be great to start teaching her!

  87. My mom and I use to bake chocolate chip cookies when I was young after school and I can not wait for my little girl to help with the baking when she gets older.

  88. My three year old granddaughter loves to help me make cake. She gets to use the hand beater and lick it when she's done. She also likes to decorate the cake with sprinkles.
    smchester at gmail dot com

  89. The Holidays always inspire me to Bake. I really need light and easy to clean bakeware! I think I would choose the Large Scoop. Love Love Muffins!

  90. My son loves to cook, daughter not much. My son says he is going to be a chef when he grows up which sounds great to me. We love to make rice krispy treats and that sq pan would be great for them.

  91. Chocolate chip cookies have always been a favorite with us. Even during the holidays, you'd be surprised the shapes you can make with chocolate chip dough. We've had some interesting looking trees and wreaths!

  92. My kids are grown now but we baby sit my niece and bake with her all the time. She is so used to it she takes charge--walks in the door and started getting out things we need. She likes to bake cookies but last week we made a carrot cake.

  93. My kidlets love baking with me and their favorite is making sugar cookies with icing on them! Thank you for the contest!

  94. The only time we ever bake is Christmas when we make cutout cookies with frosting and sprinkles. It is just like I did when I was a kid.

  95. i love to bake and cook, every time i go shopping i go look in the untensil and pan to see what is new and improved, the other day i saw this thing for brownies that makes each brownie have a edge to each side, wow thats neat. what wont they come up with next. thanks

  96. I love to bake cookies! I usually start my Christmas baking in October since I make dozens of different types of cookies for the holidays.

  97. I love to make different types of breads since my cookies never turn out! :( One of my favorite types of bread to make is Friendship Bread. When I bake, I use applesauce instead of oil... this is my healthy version of almost all recipes! :) Plus they come out very moist and extra yummy!

  98. I love to make different types of breads since my cookies never turn out! :( One of my favorite types of bread to make is Friendship Bread. When I bake, I use applesause instead of oil... this is my healthy version of almost all recipes! :) Plus they come out very moist and extra yummy!

  99. We make cookies, brownies and (believe it or not) scones, russian tea cakes and irish soda bread (they love the sticky messy dough).

  100. I have a large Wilton Cake pan I have been using for years....it is great for Texas Sheet Cake and different casserole recipes.
    My kids are all older teens and my daughter bakes Brownies,... which that pan looks great for.

    Experimenting in the kitchen is fun with good, quality products such as Wilton and Pampered Chef!

    wendym at cableone dot net

  101. I love to bake! Although I don't do much during the summer months, I go full-steam ahead during the fall and winter months. Even my sister likes to join in- even though she eats the icing or cookie dough before it makes it to the pan/cake!

  102. I just recently started a cake decorating class. I really enjoy it and I love Wilton products. They are made well and are functional. I would really LOVE to win this!

  103. I bake with all three of my kids, and they love to make chocolate chip cookies, banana bread and cupcakes the most. :)

  104. My little one is not quite at the helping to bake age but he'll be getting there soon...and we'll be making probably lots of breads and cookies!

  105. My kids love to help me bake! They help with the everyday stuff, like whole wheat bread and pita. We don't often get around to the fun stuff like brownies or cookies, unfortunately.

  106. My 3 year old loves to help me cook anything. But I do love to bake with her. We like making homemade chocolate chip cookies and cup cakes. She get to ice her own.

  107. I don't bake a whole lot with my daughter. However, I have fond memories of it as a kid, so I am really trying to get in the habit of allowing her to help me make things. I just worry about getting dirty, etc. However, the memories should be more important than the worries. Also, she is learning with me then.

  108. I will admit I'm not the biggest fan in the world of cooking, but when I bake I do love to include my children and we have a great time doing it. These scoops look fantastic and who couldn't use another baking pan? Oh and I've never tried pampered chef but I hear they're fantastic! Thanks.

  109. I just started baking with my son. He is 22 months and is really getting into helping cook. Today we made "dinosaur snacks" which was an easy no bake cookie type thing. You mix cocoa, butter, milk, & sugar and heat over the stove(obviously I do this part) then he helps me stir in the oatmeal and peanut butter and shape into balls on wax paper. He loves them and loves helping make just about anything in the kitchen. Any time I am cooking I try to let him stir or pour ingredients.

  110. I bake all the time, especially with my boys. Their favorite thing lately is shortbread cookies. The dough is basic, and we have been experimenting with different combinations. We seem to be stuck on Cranberry-Pecan and Cranberry-Lemon, although I'm partial to the Lemon-Lavender.

  111. My daughter loved to help bake when she was young. She and a pal "helped" their math grades in high school by taking the teacher cheesecake! Now she is less into baking, but is becoming a pretty good cook.

  112. My sons and I love to bake together. We really look forward to snow days, because we always bake up items whenever it snows.
    The Peanut Butter Balls you have listed sound really great by the way. This would be great for making with the kids in the warmer weather. Plus, they love peanut butter.
    Thanks.

  113. I love to bake with my daughter! We love to bake sugar cookies...this is our fav. recipe:

    Paradise Bakery Sugar Cookies

    Ingredients

    * 1 cup granulated sugar
    * 1 cup powdered sugar
    * 2 cups shortening
    * 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
    * 1 large egg, beaten
    * 4 1/3 cups cake flour
    * 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
    * 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
    * 1/4 teaspoon salt
    * sugar, for decorating

    Directions

    Preheat oven to 375°.

    In a medium bowl, cream together the sugars and shortening using an electric mixer.

    Mix on slow speed 30 seconds, then scrape down the bowl with a spatula.

    Increase speed to medium and mix for 3 minutes.

    Slowly add vanilla and beaten egg while mixing.

    In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the mixing bowl, mixing on slow speed until just blended. Do not overmix.

    Scoop with an ice-cream scoop and roll in sugar.

    Place directly on cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with palm of hand.

    Bake at 375° for 9-10 minutes. Cookies are done when small cracks appear and are pale golden. Ideally, the edges do not brown.

  114. We love to bake. Chocolate Chip Cookies are the favorite, but they are willing to bake any type of cookie. Cookies are the easiest to do even for the youngest. and, they all love decorating anything with icing.

  115. I love to bake and my little boy loves to help. I can't wait for Christmas when we will do a lot of baking and decorating. Thanks for the giveaway!

  116. One of the things on my list of things I want to do is learn to bake from scratch. I already love cooking but baking always seemed like more of a challenge to me. Would love to win these prizes to help me on my journey as a first time baker.
    Thanks!
    Monica

  117. yes we bake, mostly m & m cookies when thier little friends come over.
    but i want to to try something from the papmered chef

  118. Both my husband and I enjoying baking with our two year old daughter. Our favorites include oatmeal cookies and shortbread cookies. (She suffers from food allergies so our selection is limited). I really like the Wilton products and adore my Pampered Chef stoneware cake pan!

  119. i bake almost every day. one quick favorite often requested here is take one regular size box of chocolate pudding mix. Add 2 cups of milk and mix for 2 minutes. To that add a regular size box of chocolate cake mix and 12 ou chocolate chips. Mix till combined. spread in a greased 15x10 baking sheet and bake 350 for about 25 minutes. Very moist chocolately brownies

  120. I love baking, baking has always been something that my family enjoys doing together my sisters and I love to bake together. I have some pampered chef tools and they are always well made and so useful.

  121. YES! We love to bake, always have. We do most of our baking at Christmastime, the kids help me make about 25 different kinds of cookies to share with family and friends. They like the roll-out sugar cookies they can cut out and decorate, I like to make chocolate chip cookies with them.

  122. When we were first married, most of our baking dishes were glass. Many years later, and many broken dishes later, we are slowly replacing everything with aluminum/steel. We love Pampered Chef, too!

  123. Ive always baked with my kids, when they were little we had so much fun baking Christmas cookies together! Now that they are older and young adults they still love to bake and cook!

  124. How great these would be when my nieces and nephews want to help me in the kitchen. They love to bake and this way they would know it would be a treat with such lovely kitchen gadgets.

  125. It's okay that the peanut butter balls are unbaked--they are still a lot of work and very tasty!

    I have to say--I have been so happy with any Wilton or Pampered Chef products, they have been nothing but high quality. I would love to try the Scoop-Its--too cute--they look like little flower petals to me!

  126. I'm a stay at home dad/house husband and I cook with my son daily. He loves to cook almost as much as I do. We cook dinner together every night and actually gets mad if I start without him because he's still doing homework. He's 16, plays football and runs track. His favorite is to come up with new snacks to bake for his team on saturday practices. This past week he made a white angle food cake with a hershey chocolate swirl, then covered it with chocolate shell sauce and fresh strawberries. Kind of like stawberry shortcake and chocolate covered stawberries combined. It was delicious.

  127. Oh, undercooking is SO the way to go! Makes the best brownies! =)
    Actually, this evening the kids and I baked chocolate chip cookies and banana bread to take with us on our camping trip! The house smells WONDERFUL!

  128. I love to bake. I like it a lot more than cooking meals. I love to bake sugar cookies with my kids. I have a wonderful recipe for that, I will have to e-mail it when I have more time. My son is the one that likes to bake with me the most!!

  129. Me and my little one made HoneyBun Cake this morning. Yummy!
    My son is actually the one who really loves to cook. It is hard though, since he started school.

  130. I love to bake! I try to always have some sort of homemade baked goods around the house. I have a huge chocolate tooth so it's usually something chocolatey. I wish my son had the patience to bake with me but he usually can't get passed the cracking of the eggs. Oh well!

  131. My youngest likes to help me alot in the kitchen. My oldest will come in for a few minutes, but then will wander off! :o) She's a preteen so is easily "bored" by things! We love to make brownies. I agree that you have to underbake them by just a little! So much moister!!! I'd love to have the large scoop. I think that would come in handy!!! Thanks for the giveaway!

  132. I adore Pampered Chef products! My husband is really the cook in the family and he has a birthday coming up late this month. This prize package would make a super gift for his birthday.
    Many thanks, Cindi

  133. I love to bake. (Have a batch of zucchini banana choc chip bread in the oven right now!) I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to help. For now I let her watch and look through the oven window and taste the results! When we were little we always got to lick the spoon. I just read an article about e coli poisoning so I don't think we will carry on that tradition when the recipe has eggs in it though. This prize looks great! Thanks, oh and I am gonna check out those recipes too.

  134. I love, love, LOVE baking with my kids! We make their birthday cakes together, and it's so much more valuable an experience than the few times we've gotten ones from a bakery!

  135. My little guy loves to help out in the kitchen. He's a huge fan of making bread with his Baw-Baw, and of course, every time I'm in the kitchen he wants to be right up there with me. Our favorite unhealthy treats would have to be chocolate chip cookies and blueberry pies. On the slightly healthier side we go for bran muffins around here.

  136. My 3 yr. old LOVES to help me bake. This would be a fabulous Christmas gift for him! Which reminds me that he got alphabet cookie cutters for his birthday that we haven't had a chance to try out yet as we moved a couple of weeks later and things have been crazy since...

  137. We love baking! I'm actually curious about the stoneware pan b/c I have some recipes that advise you to use stoneware. They always seem to burn in an aluminum pan, but I've never bitten the bullet and bought a stoneware one.

  138. I love baking and cooking with my older son. He is a wonderful helper and truly enjoys eating what we have made. It helps to get him to try things that he might not have tried if he hadn't helped to make it. I do really need to start getting my 3 year old more involved, but truth be told, I'm a bit of a neat freak and he makes such a mess. Maybe we can start with the peanut butter balls or something. =)

  139. I love baked goods and so do my kids, but we try to keep our home free of sweets. We bake together a couple of times a year. Otherwise, I'd weigh about 15 pounds more than i do! :)

    Oh, and I LOVE pampered chef and Wilton products!

  140. Okay, I don't have kids, but I totally love making cookies with my niece. She's old enough to help stir (a little) and she LOVES to decorate cookies. I think it's awesome that she likes to be in the kitchen helping and we definitely encourage her to do so.

  141. My husband and I were just talking the other day about the valuable lessons and FUN the kids and I have together while baking. I don't know if there's a specific recipe we like to make together most; they just like to help with all things kitchen!

    I have the Pampered Chef medium scoop. Love it. I like to use it to scoop my meatballs, too, to avoid the mess of rolling each one.

    Thrilled to find another mom who thinks stoneware is heavy and cumbersome. I don't buy it.

  142. I love to bake! It's difficult with my little one since she has so many allergies. She's outgrown most but peanuts are still a downfall. She helped make her birthday cupcakes this past year and loves putting chocolate chips in the cookies, pancakes, and her mouth especially! She's a good helper and would love any excuse for mom to bake! What a special treat! I really like the square baking pan would make some extra thick brownies! Thanks for the fun post and great prizes! Happy Baking!
