Peek-A-Boo in a Book!

Books are my "stand-by" when it comes to entertaining my daughter on the road or at home. I love pulling out a book and watching my daughter soak in the pictures and delight in the text. I especially am fond of books that are "interactive" in some way.

Peek-A-Boo in a Book! 1If you have a baby in the birth to 18 months age range, I bet he'll love Where is Baby's Belly Button? Written and illustrated by Karen Katz, the board book has cute and colorful pictures of babies with accompanying questions and "peek-a-boo" lift-the-flap pages. For example, the book will pose the question, "Where are baby's eyes?" Lift a flap and reveal a happy baby's eyes "under the hat."

Asking questions is such a great teaching tool and the simplicity of this book makes it perfect for infants and older babies. Best of all, it's a board book so babies can chew away to their heart's content.

If your baby giggles and smiles and claps whenever you play peek-a-boo, this book will become a "favorite" very quickly. For $5.99, this book would be fantastic to add to your bookshelf or to give to a friend or coworker who recently had a baby.

WIN IT! There will be two winners. Each winner will receive a copy of Where is Baby's Belly Button? by Karen Katz. To enter, simply leave a comment on this post prior to Sunday, June 8 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). The winner will be announced and contacted on Monday, June 9. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winners are #28 Shanda and #37 Jessica Cote. Congratulations!

  2. Cute! I just bought a different book by the same author last month for my daughter's 1st birthday. She loves it! I'm sure this would be a hit as well.

  3. I just read this to my kids and they loved it! We checked it out at the library, but the darn flaps were already torn. It would be nice to have a shiny new one!

  4. Awww, very sweet. Some things never change. I think peek-a-boo was proberbly every bodys' first game.

  5. I loved this book when someone gave it to me at my shower. I've also blogged it here

  10. My brother and sister in law love to read to my niece, but it's hard to find books for her age range. This looks like it would be really fun for all of them.

  11. What a great sounding book. I can't imagine a child that doesn't like 'peek-a-boo'. :)

    Thanks for the review!

  12. I'm reminded to look for the button for my belly,
It's been missing since I got the tummy tuck to remove all that jelly!

  13. My family is book fiends, we love to read anything we can get our hands on. I know this would be a great addition!

  14. We have two of her books "No Hitting" and "No Bitting". Just this morning she brought me the "No Hitting" quess she'd been dreaming about doing something she shouldn't be doing.

  15. My kids love the peek a boo books, of course there was a stage where my son ripped off all of the little flaps and things in every book that had them. That was kind of a pain but my handy husband used some fabulous orange scotch tape to quick fix them until we could replace them. We still have some nice orange taped books. It is fun.

  16. Ive got two little grandsons 4 months an 22 months that would love this book, how cute, please count me in too, thanks

  17. We have the Toes, Ears, & Nose book by Karen Katz and my little guy seems to enjoy lifting up the flaps and seeing what is under them. We'd love another one by this author!

  18. I have a 5 month old little girl; my first, and I absolutely LOVE reading to her in the evenings, before bed. This book would be a hugely welcome addition to our growing collection!

  19. What a cute book. My son is 5 months and I am sure would love this book in a couple of months. Thanks.

  20. My grandaughter has just started showing everybody her belly button. She would get a kick out of this book.

  21. I would love to win this for my almost 11 month old. We had a similar book when my son was younger but it got ruined, of course from little hands using it so much. That's okay! This book sounds really cute - please enter me to win.

  22. Wow! lol this is right up Ellie's alley, she loves playing peek a boo. If I don't win this at least I will have one birthday present picked out for her. She turns one in 2 months and I have no idea what to get her. Our first daughter hardly ever played with any of her toys but Ellie loves them, the two are like day and night though so I shouldn't be too nervous about buying her toys she won't like. This looks like it would be a big hit with her though.

  23. I'd love to win this book for my children Gabriel and Helana (due in Sept.)! He is just now grasping the fact that he has a nose, eyes, ears, and mouth! Didn't even think about the bellybutton, LOL! I read to my children a few books a day and they love it! Thanks for the great find!

  24. We love Peek a Boo and "where is your...." Books are something I always pull out when my son starts getting fussy and it's not time for a nap or a meal!

  25. So adorable! Would make a fabulous Happy Birthday gift when my friend's son is born. Reading to children from birth on is so very important!

  26. Such an adorable book. Babies learn to play peek a boo so early and it is so much fun! I enjoy children's books! Please enter my name in the hat for this drawing. Many thanks,Cindi

  27. We love the Karen Katz books and have quite a collection already...but we would love to gift this one to our little neice!

  28. My little girl is always trying to find her daddy's belly button. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

  29. My 2 year old would love this book. She loves her belly button. It's too funny because she has a freckle in it and she forgets and thinks it's a cookie crumb or a piece of chocolate.

  30. wow i love to win this so well ican read it to my littel one who loves reading books thanks

  31. Oh my gosh! I'd love to win this and give it to a cute little friend i have! (after reading it to her of course!) please enter me! I'd be thrilled!

  32. This book was custom-made for my cherub, we are always asking where her or our eyes, ears, toes, nose, belly button etc are, she loves to show us! Although she sometimes jabs a little too vigorously at the different body parts, so 'where are mommy's eyes?' doesn't get asked that often . . .

  33. I have always tried to instill a love of reading and books in my 2 1/2 year old daughter. It seems to be working. I want her to love to read as much as I do. With my 4 month old son getting a little older I'm already reading to him. Having a book that is interactive and will keep their attention is very important. This would be awesome to have!

  34. My 14-month-old has a recent obsession with belly buttons. She loves pulling up on my shirt or her Dad's to find our "bee bee"s. Thank goodness she hasn't done this in public yet.

  35. this sounds like a cute book! My daughter love peek a boo and this would be a great way to teach her her body parts. Thanks!

  36. Oh how cute! My son loves peek-a-boo (very recently he finally *got* it! It used to just be a funny thing because mama made funny faces, but now he understands that I'm gone and then I'm back!) so this sounds great. We also like to play a similar game of our own, "Where's...::fill in blank::..." and I point to his and point to mine.

    Thanks for another great giveaway!

  37. we got a set with my daughter (she just finished Kindergarten!) but they haven't quite survived all the playdates so a new one would be very much welcomed!!!!

  38. My niece has a 7-month old baby who loves when you read to her. I know she would love this book with the flaps. Thanks for a great prize!
