Scoot Around the House with Your Baby in Tow

Scoot Around the House with Your Baby in Tow 1Dinner needs to be made. Laundry needs to be switched from the washer to the dryer. The floor needs to be vacuumed. AND your baby/toddler wants to be held.

That was (and sometimes still is) a common dilemma in my house in the early days. I was never one to let my little one cry it out or to ignore her sweet pleading requests for "up." So I took up babywearing and never looked back.

If you haven't tried sticking your baby in a wrap, sling, mei tai, pouch, or carrier while you're doing chores, I encourage you to give it a go. I'm not making any try-this-for-30-days-and-it-will-change-your-house-or-your-money-back guarantees, but I do think it can *help* you get a few extra things done if your baby just wants to snuggle, but you really have to get those enchiladas prepped.

If you're looking for a high-quality carrier that accommodates babies from 5 months to 40 pounds, take a peek at the Scootababy. The Scootababy features a natural carrying position, top-quality materials, and sturdy construction. It allows for eye-to-eye contact with your munchkin and gives you the ability to use your hands while still keeping your baby close to your heart.

Scoot Around the House with Your Baby in Tow 2I tried the Scootababy with my daughter and I was impressed by the comfortable shoulder strap and the obviously well-crafted materials and design. My daughter is beyond the carrying stage for the most part so she got "squirmy" quickly, but I think this would be a fantastic carrier for younger babies, especially in the 6-12 month age range. The "seat" part is padded and actually looks like it might be snug and cozy for baby, and it's comfy for mom (or dad) too.

The Scootababy can be purchased online for $107.

WIN IT! One winner will receive a Scootababy carrier. To enter, leave a comment on this post prior to Sunday, July 6 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winner is #126 Tara Hill. Congratulations!

  1. While I personally have no need for this, I would love to win this for a woman at our church. She had twins. At almost 6 months the precious little girl passed away from a bad heart which even the doctors had not caught. Now the mama carries her other twin, a boy, all the time with her. He is just a tad over 6 months so I think this would be perfect for them, to keep her baby close while being a comfy fit for the mama.

Blessings to you and thank you again for ANOTHER wonderful opportunity!

  2. Aw shucks -- no more excuses for a messy house. LOL This looks practical as well as comfortable to use. Thanks for a wonderful giveaway.

  3. I love this and it would be great for my friend who is expecting a baby boy in August. What a great giveaway!

  4. wow. At nearly 4 my son still loves to be carried sometimes (and I have to confess that I still love to carry him, too). He's a wirey, skinny kid and he hangs on me like a monkey which makes it easier, but yes, this product would do the trick, too--of course, on a much younger child! :)

  5. I'm about to deliver my first child, a girl. I know she would love to ride around the apartment in this.

  6. This would be great for my 1 month old son when he's a bit bigger!! He loves to be held (and I love to hold him!!)!!

  7. This would be fantastic for my sister who just had a beautiful baby girl. She is always running around trying to keep up with her other daughter so she could really use this!

  8. We could use this. My son is 7 months and likes to ride on me but he already weighs 20 lbs so this would help me with holding him up. Thanks

  9. At 12 months my son still loves and wants to be carried a lot of the time, particularly when we're out. He isn't walking yet so we've also took to babywearing because it's too difficult to carry a squirmy baby who doesn't walk and wants to be held. Sounds like a great carrier since it allows for older, bigger babies. My son is around 22 pounds so while he isn't terribly heavy, it is exhausting carrying him for any length of time. Did you find this to be comfortable? Did it hurt anywhere? Shoulders, neck, back, etc?

  10. We could really use a Scootababy at our house. My daughter has loved to be held since she was born and with a new baby due in the fall I am going to need my arms free.

  11. Would love to win this for my granddaughter, who is due in August.
They are a young couple and can use all the help they can get.

  12. I am a big fan of baby carriers. Not only do babies love being carried this way, but I believe it is safer to use when I go out shopping because my eyes are never off my baby. But, the carrier we purchased for this baby is so uncomfortable. The straps are not supportive and the baby seems to hang the wrong way. I would love to try the Scootababy because it looks much more supportive than what I am using now.

  13. My son is definitely at that stage where he gets upset if I leave the room. He's so curious, too! He loves to be able to look around at what's going on. Using this would allow me to free up my hands and still give him the attention that he nees. I wonder if using this will qualify as excercise.... ;^)

  14. My daughter would love this. I sure hope that I can win this for her. Thank you for having this giveaway.

  15. This would make a fantastic present for my BF who is very pregnant and is due anyday. Thank you for the great giveaway.

  16. My best friend is pregnant. Boy is that a scary thing at 19. But her first baby is due soon and it is my godchild, i want to do everything i can to help my friend and my godchild have the best time they can and i believe this would be a great asset to her.

  17. I'd love to win this. My youngest has outgrown the sling but is going through a clingy stage and my arms are getting tired!

  18. My friend's daughter just had a preemie. Her husband's job takes him out of town ten days at a time--this would come in handy when little Olivia is big enough!

  19. With a 3 year old and 14 month old, I am a big fan of babywearing. It would be impossible to do anything around the house!

  20. Snuggling with my children is wonderful. I am now waiting on the new grandchild to snuggle with.

  21. This would be great for my daughter. We just took her to a baseball game where I lugged her around and I thought my arms were going to fall off. I so hope to win.

  22. Wish I had that for the first 3 babies I had!!! It's amazing, the things you learn to do with one arm when you got a baby in you other arm.

  23. I love this carrier, a baby can hear your heart beat and feel so safe and secure.Count me in to win

  24. I would love to have this for my big sis who is having her first baby at age 42 in September.

  25. You know, I love the fact that you say it's padded. I'm amazed at how hard alot of the surfaces are for things designed for babies, especially the car seats. I could never imagine being comfortable in those things for very long, they are hard and unforgiving. I always say, if you can't handle it, what makes you think your baby would!! This sounds like a great product I would love to try!

  26. I have 4 kids, my youngest being 4 months. I have been wanting to try one of these. I have a baby bjorn but using that still doesn't allow me to get as much done. I think something like this would be very helpful in my very busy household.

  27. I know my wife would like this, she gets tired of carrying our heavy baby around all the time. Id be great just to strap him in!

  28. One of my most often used sentences is "Part of the changes your body goes through during pregnancy should include growing a third arm."

Guess you made it so we don't have to evolve into octopods! lol Thanks for hosting yet another great give-away

  29. I would love to try this carrier, I haven't seen one like it before. I am a huge carrier fan and have quite a few and I use them daily!

  30. This is the best looking and most functional looking carrier I have seen. Would love a chance to win this prize.

  31. My two-year-old loves to walk when we got out, but she inevitably gets tired and then wants to be carried. She's getting heavy, so my arms get tired after just a little while! I love that this carrier works with larger toddlers and would love to try it out with her! :)

  32. I'm hoping my next baby will enjoy being snuggled more than my first. I tried all sorts of carriers...the baby sling, mai tai, hip carrier and she was not digging any. Too independent! I'd love to have this one to try with my second child. m_huston(at)hotmail(dot)com

  33. My two month old is already 14 pounds, I get so tired always holding hima nd chasing my other two. Thus looks like it will help!

  34. This would be so great for my BF. She is expecting in October and has a toddler as well. For her to be able to have 2 hands free, she would be forever grateful.

  35. this is a great item and very good invention! my neighbor could really use this. thank you.

  36. The scootababy is great, I love it. It really helps you hold the baby close to you. thanks.

  37. Both of my boys were worn in slings and an Ergo until they wouldn't let me carry them anymore. Now that we are working on #3 (hopefully a girl...yay!), it goes without saying that wearing the third one will not only be something I enjoy doing, but a necessity to my busy house. Pick me! Pick me! =)

  38. With a 7 year old, a 2 year old, and one on the way, this could really be a life saver. I never had a carrier with my first two but would love to give this a try with our third. Thanks for the chance to win!

  39. I was sad because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. So I said, "Got any shoes you're not using?" -Steven Wright

  40. What a nice and comfortable way to keep your baby close to your heart. I'm so amazed on how these carriers change over the years. Even though my kids are way to big for these now, I could use this for my grandaughter. It's looks so snuggly.

  41. I need something like this to hold one of my twin girls and then if needed I could pick up the other.

  42. i meant to say while holding my 9 month old and chasing my 3 year old! ugh, mommy brain!

  43. This looks great! My munchkin is five months and has outgrown the one we have! Thanks for the chance!

  44. I would love this my 1 month old is anuggler. it would be nice to give my arms a break!!

  45. This is really neat. My sister will be expecting her first in a few months. I'll be checking out the rest of the site to see what other great things I can purchase for her.

  46. I can't believe that it will hold up to forty pounds! That is when you really need a sling! Another great giveaway. Thanks a bunch!

  47. Slings and wraps are great but this one looks better for older kids. I know a lil hug-muffin who would like to help me give it a test run!

  48. I have never tried using a carrier, but my youngest is a major snuggle bug, so I know that we could get alot of use out of this item.

  49. I have a 2 onth old and would love to win this for when she's a couple of months older. Thank you!

  50. Brilliant! Fantastic!!! Why didnt I think of this?! My life could be so much more productive with the Scootababy.

  51. This looks like a great alternative to the bjorn or the maya wrap. I used those too, and the trekker but mostly the bjorn. I was going to give my sister my bjorn but after three kids, I'd love to give her a new one and this carrier looks great.

  52. My little LaLa will be six months in 9 days, and I'd love to get this for she and I. I find myself sitting alot when I get home these days because she just wants to be near me, I don't have to hold her, but she feels the need to be leaning on me. So, this would help me get so much done AND still be close to baby LaLa

  53. This would be great. My kids are on the high end of the heigh/weight spectrum and I get tired of trying to hold them!

  54. This would help out immensely when I watch my granddaughter. Her mommy and I could share it. Please count me in. Thanks!!

  55. Looks great and like it might save the 'hip swing' that is so common. My 8 month old loves to be carried and doing things one handed is an understatement. She loves to see what is going on from a better view than the floor or her high chair! :-)

  56. I'd love to give this one a try. I've tried a few -- and have a favorite -- but I'm always game to give something new a try!! Thanks for the opportunity!

  57. I like the jelly beans ones. I was a baby lugger too. It would have been nice to have my hands free when going to the bathroom!! This would be a great gift for my new niece and her Mommy!

  58. Seen these before, they look good. I think my hubby would like this... I'm loving my Mei Tai but I love to try new and different ones but with them being $$ I'd rather win one. Thanks for the opportunity.

  59. Ive got 2 grandbabies on the way,so this would be so nice for me to have when Ive got both of them at the same time,I want to be a hands on gramma,so please count me in too, thanks

  60. I love how comfortable the baby looks. Also, the fact that it goes all the way to 40 lbs. is great! At that point they might be too heavy to carry, but with a little leverage they can still get a lot of mommy time and you can still continue doing some chores.

  61. Woohoo! I love wearing my baby! I would love to try out this new babywearing product! Thanks Stephanie! The gals at 5M4Mom sent me!

  62. My best friend is now pregnant with her fourth child (due in August!), and this would be such a wonderful gift for her! Her hands are already full with a 3 year old, 10 year old, and 13 year old. :)

  63. I'm a firm believer in keeping babies close.
This looks like a great product to cuddle them and still get things done. Thanks for the chance to win.

  64. This looks like a really nice carrier. With so many out on the market, it's hard to know which are the "good" ones. Thanks for letting us know your experience with it. :)

  65. Had babies that liked nothing better than being in mommies arms, this would have made my life so much easier.

  66. A max of 40lbs? Hallelujah! This would be the perfect answer to my daughters pleas of "Mommy, carry me pleeeeeeeeease." She is just over 30lbs, has outgrown her other carriers (except the BIG frame carrier - not so nice for a quick grocery run) and I am not ambidextrous - i.e. I am afraid that I left bicep is outshining my right. I have my fingers crossed and, in the mean time, my arms under her bottom while I carry her. Cheers.

  67. With a niece, 2 friends, 2 stepsons girlfriends ( a set of twins) all expecting this year, I could really use this for a gift. I usually make croceted blankets, but I think I will make some baby goodie baskets. Please enter me, thank you

  68. So darling! I've tried a number of carriers and love what they do, but they don't always feel comfortable for me, or look like they are comfortable for my daughter. I love the design of this, and the way it looks so much like a "natural snuggle".

  69. Hi, My cousin has a baby shower coming up in August. This would be a great gift for her! It looks good and it sounds comfortable. Please enter me in your wonderful drawing. I appreciate it.....Cindi

  70. I've been reading about every baby carrier I hear about lately. We used a borrowed Bjorn with our daughter and were happy with it. But with our next one I'd love to find something that will grow with him/her, and something that has more options beyond front-carrying.

  71. I've loved babywearing since my friend introduced me to the ergo=) I'd love to try a side style carrier for our new daughter

  72. We could have used this at the zoo today. My son is 3, but when he gets tired after a long day like that he doesn't want to walk or ride in the wagon anymore. He wants to be held which is difficult since he weighs almost 40 lbs. I've not seen a carrier before that can hold a toddler.

  73. I'd love one of these for the new baby coming in August, it would help with keeping a free hand to tend to my 3 year old as well!!

  74. I'd love to have another carrying option too. It does look like a very comfy hip carrier and I'm sure I could use it with the new babe :)

  75. Love that it grows with your baby. Looks comfortable and easy to use. I would love to give this a try! Thanks.

  76. Cheeks likes to be with me much of the day, but it gets tough. I like my Baby Bjorn okay, but this one looks better. I haven't completely jumped on teh baby-wearing bandwagon because wearing her in front makes me nervous when cooking because of heat and sharp objects, and sometimes she's just kind of in the way for doing things in the home. If you've got better tips, let me know!

  77. I would love this product for baby #2 (due October). I used a different baby carrier with my first and she wasn't terribly comfortable in it...so it's usefulness didn't last very long at all. This Scootababy looks so very comfortable for both baby and for mama/dada. What a great design.

  78. I would love to try this! I keep reading great things about this sling. I absolutely love my Ergo, but having a second one (that may be easier to put on) would be wonderful! I really do love to "wear" my son. It makes everything from housework to errands so much easier. As a plus, it tends to keep him safer, too!

  79. This looks like a great product. My two year old still loves to be held/cuddled especially at preparing-for-dinner-time (why are they the fussiest then?!). I would love to give this a try. Thanks so much!!

  80. Looks like a neat design. I already like to hold my 9 month old and 2.5 year old, so a good sturdy carrier for that would be awesome!

  81. This is a wonderful item to have for a new baby, my baby would love this. Thanks for the contest

  82. Looks great, and I appreciate your review. I want to buy a carrier that both my husband and I will use, and I think a black, carrier (not sling) will end up the winner. But I'm finding it hard to tell which carriers will be comfortable, esp after wearing it for a couple hours while out and about. And which truly take into account ergonomics. Guess it's trial and error! :)

  83. I used a carrier with all three of my kids and would love to give one to my brother and his wife who are expecting their first born this summer. They really are a life (and back!) saver.

  84. Carrying my daughter around in a sling was what saved me from not having an overwhelmingly out of control house! This carrier looks super comfortable, for both baby and mom. I also like the fact you can go to 40 pounds since often enough the "up" word is used now at 18 months, and let's face it, she is getting heavy!

  85. see now this is a product I can really use! My son just will not cling and he's almost 11 months old and out growing my Bjorn, help I need to get stuff done.

  86. I've enjoyed using different kinds of slings & carriers with my boys, and this looks like a great one. I like the simplicity of the design & that it looks so comfy for the baby.

  87. I can not find a carrier that I like that actually supports my son well. I would love to give this one a try!

  88. My daughter still loves to be be carried (and I have to admit I love carrying her too), especially lately since she is teething. It is the only thing that will calm her down. Lately I have been popping her in our sling, but I would love to try this out. Thanks!

  89. The Scootababy looks well made and very functional. I think it's marvelous to be able to keep baby so close and actually accomplish tasks too.

  90. I'm apart from my 6 month old daughter Avery so much during the work day that when I'm home I like to carry her as much as possible. This looks like a great mommy-helper and I'd love to try it out!

  91. my son was a huuuge snuggle-butt when he was younger. Now, he's just as snuggly, but a whole lot bigger. He's probably too old for this, but I'm guessing our next one will be a cuddlemonster too.
