Somebody Loves You, Sarah Bessey

Somebody Loves You, Sarah Bessey 1

Congratulations to Sarah Bessey…this week's recipient of a SLY Award here on Metropolitan Mama.

Somebody Loves You, Sarah Bessey 2It's very rare that I stumble across a blog and subscribe RIGHT AWAY because I get positively sucked in.

That happened with Sarah's blog, however.

I found Emerging Mummy several months ago and was immediately mesmerized by Sarah's eloquence, her sincerity, and her way of living life with such a delightful splash. It is obvious that she knows LOVE...and that she is spreading it to those in her circle.

For starters, she is a gentle and thoughtful parent to her two tinies - Anne and Joseph. She doesn't just do things without thinking - she has reasons (and I so love that).

Sarah also works as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Mercy Ministries, a non-profit residential program that serves a diverse population of young women from various socio-economic backgrounds, ages 19-28. The program is free and voluntary...open to young women who face a combination of life-controlling issues such as eating disorders, self-harm, drug and alcohol addictions, physical and sexual abuse, and unplanned pregnancy.

Somebody Loves You, Sarah Bessey 3Sarah wrote, "It's a life-long dream to be a part of the Mercy team. I first heard about this ministry almost 12 years ago and have always loved and supported it. Now, to be a part of opening the first Canadian home, well, it's a God-thing, for sure. I am so honoured and blessed to be here. We're going to be opening on May 29th, welcoming the women of Canada in to restore hope and transform lives."

Won’t you join with me as I celebrate Sarah and shower her with two surprise gifts hand-selected just for her? Oh, and YOU will have a chance to win both products too.

If you know Sarah in real life or if you read her blog [Emerging Mummy], please leave a compliment here for her. Let's give her something to smile about today!

  1. Well, I am little behind on this, but I love Sarah too! She is my cousin so we go way back, but haven't spent much time together since we were kids. Sarah's blog alternately puts a smile of my face, brings tears to my eyes, has my LMAO, or leaves me in deep thought (and sometimes al four at once?!). Love you Sarah!!

  2. I just started reading Sarah's blog a few weeks ago. She has a straight-talking way of writing & making you think. But, she doesn't seem harsh in her forth-rightness. And, she doesn't come across as proud. She seems really kind. I like her!

  3. I found Sarah's blog through your blog a while back. She is a great writer...I love how real and raw and lively she is! Thanks for choosing her...once again you have picked a winner!

  4. I have to admit that I'm a little cross with Sarah. I mean sure she's totally wonderful, lovely, intelligent, funny, loving, brilliant, articulate and just plane adorable. BUT (and here's my little beef), she's ruined me for other blogs. I can deal with it though. :o)

Love you more than my Mac notebook Sez!!!

  5. Can I be honest? This is so AMAZING! I'm a little weepy, reading this. Love, love, love. Thank you seems inadequate (and my husband had a little cry himself reading through it all). xo

  6. Sarah! Is! AWESOME!!! Like you, Steph, I fell in love with Sarah and her writing when I first happened upon her blog. She has a wonderful way of balancing poetry with prose, and she never shies away from speaking her mind - yet it is always with eloquence and grace.

This made me SO HAPPY to see here today. A LOT of people love you, Sarah Bessey. I hope and pray that God allows us a way to meet - somehow, someway - THIS side of heaven.

    So much love, mi amiga.

    XOXO,
    Your Mind Twin ;)

    Connect. Thanks, Cindi

  8. I knew Sarah as she was beginning to "emerge" and before she was a "Mummy." She is a beautiful soul and it comes out in her writing. I love her!

  9. Well, what a lovely hono(u)r! You deserve this SLY award, dah-link. I love you more now than when we first met and disagreed with each other. *happy sigh*

  10. Sarah, I'm so glad you're getting a SLY award! I love your blog and agree that you are an inspiration. Thank you for all you do!

  11. Congrat's to you Sarah! You are an amazing writer, saying more in a sentence than most say in a paragraph. You are beautiful inside and out, what a privilege to be your Mum, talk about bragging rights-lol

  12. Sarah, it's been a pleasure to be an "Emerging Mummy" fan even before you were a Mummy.....Yay-so- many-years ago. Nine or ten, I think. Congratulations for this award. I am so blessed to know you. Love, Q.'

  13. Sarah is without a doubt, one of the most thoughtful and introspective writers I have ever come across. It isn't very often that you find someone who can make you laugh about the crazy things that occur when raising a family and also make you think about some of the most important issues of our day. She is quite deserving of this award.

  14. I love Sarah Bessey too!! She's the first blog I check every day! We haven't met in real life, but have known each other online for about 9 years and she is like a sister to me! Cheers to the best blog!

  15. Sarah is full of love, she is authentic, romantic, intelligent, smart & beautiful. Her blog reflects all those qualities & that's why I love it!

  16. I have had the privilege of knowing Sarah in real life and through her blog. She is an amazing woman! We had a PR class together at University and were required to write and share our life mission statements. I can remember lines from hers to this day, nearly 9 years later. I was so inpsired by what she wrote, it made me want to live life fuller and be a better person. All that from a writing she shared in a class. She is living out that mission statement to its fullest, she's the real deal!

  17. I've know Sarah for many years. She is exactly how you have described her. I love her blog, because it is like seeing a piece of her heart out there in the great wide world. She is a lovely person and I'm glad other people are getting the chance to know her through her writing for who she is.

  18. Sarah is very dear to me as well. Though we have never met in real life, we have laughed together, cried together, and cheered each other on for many years.

She is, to me, what Anne Shirley would call a "kindred spirit".

I'm so happy to know that you have found her and love her too!

  19. I found Sarah's blog through this blog and it is a daily read. She inspires me to be a better mother, a better Christian, and a better all-around woman. Her recent series on Whole Foods was fantastic. Congratulations Sarah!

  20. I agree with what you said about being instantly hooked on her blog. It's beautiful and real and thought-provoking. I have been blessed many times by it!

  21. I've read Sarah's blog a few times (I've been kinda absent from the blogging community for the past month or two... shortly after I first found her) but I agree - she has an awesome blog. Congratulations for being this week's surprised favorite!
