On Wednesday, Tim and I were driving home from lunch with our girls and I said, "Want to drive to New Mexico?" He said, "Really?" I said, "Sure."
In a rare act of spontaneity, we called Tim's cousin Rick, packed up, and started driving. Six hours later (at midnight), the four of us arrived on Rick's doorstep.
And the past few days have been pure joy. We are having the BEST time with Rick, his wife, and their four kids - six little kids, all under age 10, in one house. :)
When was the last time you did something spontaneous?
That's amazing that you can pack up and be so spontaneous with your family.
What fun! I enjoy spontaneity, but rarely would I vote for any unnecessary travel with kids. You're amazing! I liked your travel tips above also. I've never seen a Boone potty (probably don't have them where I live), but public bathrooms with recently potty trained toddlers is the bane of my existence! Gross!!! Anyway, way to be spontaneous. I bet your kids loved it too!
Looks like so much fun! The perks of having a stay-at-home job, right? My husband is in sales which means most of his work is done on the phone. A few times it's been easy for us to extend trips. But we've never decided to leave for a trip at the last minute. He would. But I'm a planner. But I should do more stuff like this. Looks like TONS of fun! Doesn't it feel so free-ing to break the rules every once in a while? I think it's a good lesson for our kids too.
this is one area that my family REALLY struggles with. We are very calculated and planned - not that I like it that way, but my husbands job requires it! boo...
I love doing spontaneous things! It has been a very long time since Jeremy and I have done anything spontaneous. I'm glad you and your family had a good time! That's wonderful. Jeremy has family in St. Louis and Little Rock, so someday soon, when our finances get better, I think we may call them up and see if they would mind some company. :-)
Good for you! Spontaneous travel is always so much fun because there is a lack of pressure from over-planning & it just feels like such a carefree adventure!
Greg and I used to go on spontaneous road trips before we became parents. We'd drive and see where we'd end up. I miss that. Hmm...
So fun. We love spontaneity in this household. Lately it's on a pretty small scale, but I'd say we do something spontaneous at least once a week--even if it's just something simple around town. Your trip sounds fantastic. Your little girls and their cousins will have memories that last forever. The pics are adorable.
I am the most unspontaneous person ever created. It probably makes me pretty un-fun. Glad you had a good time and made some awesome memories!
That's so fun! I want to do it! I'm glad you guys were able to and that it's been so great. Way to go!
How exciting!
That does sound fun. I feel right now that spontaneity is impossible for us (too many commitments). I think it might be time to reduce said commitments!
Sounds blissful! Does going out for breakfast count as spontaneous? Ha!
I love doing things like that... unfortunately I don't have an relatives close enough to do that with... and the lack of a car doesn't help either... makes me sad we're not as spontaneous as we used to be... blah
How fun!! Spontaneity is the best part of life (well, at least one of...) :)
Yay! LOVE IT! Glad you guys are having fun! We love being spontaneous, although, I do confess, since we have had two kids, we haven't been as adventurous. We felt more mobile with one...however now that Jameson is getting older, we are ready to do more again! Thanks for the inspiration! Have a great weekend!!
It's been awhile.
How much fun for you all. Spending time with friends and family is always a good way to energize and feel immense joy!
Nell
That sounds like so much fun. I would love to do something like that but haven't so far.
