Stylish Wardrobe Staples for Expecting Mamas

Stylish Wardrobe Staples for Expecting Mamas 1As my belly expands, I've noticed that high-quality, comfortable maternity clothes really do make me feel better about my blossoming figure. Some of my tees and pants from discount stores are nice, but - by and large - my favorite pieces are from higher end specialty shops or maternity boutiques.

Last weekend, I attended my cousin-in-law's wedding and wore this combo:

Sofft Tyla Boots in Black. These are pretty much the best boots ev-ah! They are totally comfortable, despite the 3 1/4-inch heel. Plus, they are super stylish and the lace-up detailing adds a fantastic extra touch. Unfortunately, I think these boots have been "archived" and are no longer available for sale.

A wine-colored knit top from Liz Lange Maternity. It wasn't this exact top, but you get the idea...

Japanese Weekend Ok maternity bengaline skirt in black ($72).

Take a second glance at that skirt and you'll notice how versatile it is - perfect for work or fancy events. It's a classic piece for all nine months (It's machine-washable, thank goodness. But dry cleaning is recommended.). You'll find a fine selection of classic pieces at Japanese Weekend, a maternity and nursing specialty shop with brick-and-mortar stores in California and Texas. Their online catalog features fun and stylish items to carry you throughout your pregnancy.

Here are a few other examples:

luxe jersey keyhole maternity top ($72)

merino wool maternity hoody sweater ($108)

maternity cord long jacket ($116)

Japanese Weekend ships all over the world and is a wonderful place to pick up staple items to wear again and again. They also boast a line of nursing clothing and pajamas (which, I haven't tried, but they look cute and functional...).

  4. So I had the hardest time finding cute maternity clothes that fit well, especially at the end. I remember going to a boutique and finding the cutest JW maternity top on sale (it didn't even look like a maternity shirt) Anyway...towards the end it was all about dresses for style and most importantly comfort since I couldn't stand tight pants or anything.

I looked at the site and found a really cute dress:

  8. Thanks for this giveaway. I don't have much in the way of "maternity dress-up" -- my work is really casual so I spend my days in jeans and tees. But I think every pregnant woman deserves a few nice outfits -- this skirt would be great!

  9. This skirt looks comfortable and stylish and it's always a good thing to have a black skirt that will fit properly. (There are "occasions" even during pregnancy.)

  10. I am 3 months pregnant and vey soon will not fit into my regular clothes. I would love a nice maternity skirt to wear to work.

  11. The skirt looks very comfortable. The mahogany version is my fav ~ I couldn't see a size guide, but xl is what I would wear in other brands. This is a much better alternative to the classic Muumuu.

  12. I am currently 6 1/2 months pregnant with my first and having a hard time finding clothes that look good on my more round figure. That skirt is really cute and the boots are to die for!

  13. On pregnancy number 3 in 3 years. Looking for a new addition to the maternity wardrobe. Thanks for the great site!

  14. Timing should be perfect for this to get a good wearing before Bella arrives in late-March. We're just starting to hit the stores now for the new wardrow.

  15. Well, I'm at 27 weeks now, and trying to make due with the few maternity items I've bought. But it's always fun to spice up the wardrobe with 1-2 new items, esp when you are not feeling so 'spicy'!! I'm loving the stretch dress and skirt I have, more than jeans. I'm sure whoever wins will be very happy to have this as part of their maternity wardrobe! Thanks for a great giveaway.

  16. They have a great selection of PRETTY PJ's, my personal fave is the wrap nursing top pajama set in periwinkle!

  17. This looks like a great basic skirt, and my maternity wardrobe is definitely lacking in "quality" pieces right now!

  18. Not pregnant right now but plan on expanding our family next year sometime and I would love to have a nice skirt in my closet! Thanks!

  19. wow there is some beautiful stuff there that makes you like a human even if you feel like you are dragging a pumpkin in your gut

  20. I could never find a skirt that I felt comfortable in when pregnant with my first. I would love to win this as it is stylish and the perfect length. Thanks for tipping me off to this line!

  21. I would love that skirt!! I am in my 6th month of pregnancy and desperately running out of any kind of maternity clothing that looks cute! And I was intrigued to hear that Japanese Weekend is in Texas...hmm, should probably go see if one is around where I live!
