today in Bristol, TN

today in Bristol, TN 1We're in Bristol, TN.

Tim is making grilled cheese sandwiches.

The girls are playing doctor.

I wrote a post this morning, but I'm not "feeling it."

Tim says I just need to go ahead and relaunch as StephanieSheaffer.com - bigger possibilities, more room to grow. (I'm leaning towards that too).

Gotta run. I'm leaving my laptop behind in favor of spending time with my sister and nephews - a most worthy trade.

P.S. I'm not pregnant (or maybe I am) (it's a new month, after all...). ;)

What did you eat for lunch today?

Do you have any sisters and, if so, do they live in your town?

  1. I think the blog name change is a good idea. I've been thinking over since you mentioned it and I agree metropolitan mama just isn't the "you" I know. Miss you. Still praying ;)

  2. My husband grew up in Bluff City TN and my MIL lives in Bristol. Does your sister live there? I love visiting. It's a really special part of the country, so much warmth to the people and I always find the gentle rolling hill countryside so soothing somehow. StephanieSheaffer.com definitely gives you a lot of flexibility and room to grow, although I love Metropoltan Mama, too. I have 2 older sisters - I live 3000 miles away from both. In fact, I live 3000 miles away from everyone in my family.

  3. Missing commenting to you friend:) So just starting here...

Lunch was leftovers from last night's dinner- baked chicken, rice, broccoli.
I have one sister who (sort of) lives in Ocala, FL & Middleburg, VA. I also have a step-sister who lives in Maryville, TN. I haven't seen either in almost 2 years :(

What a way worthy trade you made to spend time with family (as always).

Hmm- I was pretty sure you were pregnant. I guess this is my opportunity to make some "guess you better keep 'practicing'" comment- wink;) Prayers for you all.

  4. My sister lives in San diego and I don't see her nearly as much as I'd like.
I'm over the top excited about the new StephanieSheaffer.com. Can't wait!!

  5. Thank you for doing that post. I have so many day I don't feel inspired write and post but have to push through. Finally a blogger that was just true about how they felt! I get so stuck on content some days and you just proved it doesn't always have to be perfect. Thank you and happy easter! Don't change the name because you are't inspired - this can be anything you want it to be as well. Just follow what your heart tells you. Happy Easter!

  6. I think I'm having a slight panic attack at your changing your blog name! :) LOL Just kidding... I think it's also related to my own shifting blog identity although I have a long way to go in establishing myself!

I have a younger sister - we never played together like this - we're 5 years apart and I mostly played with my older brother or neighborhood kids. She now lives a few towns over (but in CT that's only 20 minutes of driving).

For lunch... I think I had leftover pulled pork! :)

  7. I say go with StephanieShaeffer! I love how it sounds!
I hope your pregnant....if you want to be!!! We are thinking/trying for a 3rd these days also!
I have 2 younger sisters. No kids yet, so my kids get spoiled by them. They babysit (even on last minute notice) when they are free, play video games and paint toddler toes if needed(; It's nice having them so close by.

    1. Thanks for your feedback. I'm leaning toward StephanieSheaffer.com...new design, new tabs, more room to grow.

  8. I have two younger sisters. They both live pretty far from us (a VERY long drive), a plane ride away. At this point we get to see them a few times a year, which I'm sure will lessen once they have families of their own and traveling becomes more difficult for them. Enjoy your time with your sister!

Yesterday we were fasting, so lunch was a small bowl of mac & cheese for me. Today, something yummy I'm sure, either leftover rice & beans or leftover pizza.

  9. I have two sisters and a brother. Since we're in Nepal, NO ONE is close by. we're heading back to the states in a couple of months and I can't wait to see them. it's been nearly two years since we've been here and only my mother and mother-in-law have been able to make it over, and that was because they wanted to meet their grandson who was born here. My older sister and I are only 20 months apart and we're very different so we fought A LOT when we were young, but we absolutely adore each other now. My younger brother is 6 years younger than me so we have pretty much always gotten along well besides philosophical differences and my younger sister is 15 years younger than me! My mom says she is me all over again! oh how I miss them.

Yesterday we had Dhaal Bhat Takari (lentils, rice and curry vegetables) for lunch that our house helper made for us. It's the local staple here and we love it! Today will probably be peanut butter and jelly.

  10. I am lucky enough to have my sister about a 5 miles from me. She picks up the girls from school every Wednesday and they play with her boys until I get home from work. Plus my mom and dad live near by too. I really wish my brother lived near by but at least he lives in a fun place to visit - Malibu :)

  11. I have four sisters and one brother. Three of my sisters and my brother all live locally. Another sister is an hour and a half away. I am the oldest in our family and will be 70 this summer. We all help take care of my mother and father who are 87 and 89 respectively. We are very blessed. We live about 2 hours from Bristol in West Virginia. One of my sons and his wife are graduates of King College in Bristol, Tennessee. They now live in Florida where they serve with New Tribes Missions in the headquarters in Sanford. Love reading your blog and whatever name you select is fine with me.

  12. Since I know Bristol is a border state between Tennessee and Virginia, I thought I'd ask: are you going to be visiting anywhere in VA?

  13. No sisters for me growing up :( But, I recently gained two sisters-in-law, and I'm going to have a nephew soon!

  14. Girl....I am with you either way....here or with a new name! You are my friend now, so you're stuck with me!!

I also firmly believe from how I have been getting to know you that...whatever decision you make, you are doing it with God's purpose in mind!! So I am praying for clarity in HIS direction for you, Tim, and family. I know it is really important for you!

Enjoy your sis and nephews!! My sister and I live in the same town with each other now for the first time in since I was 17 {aside from a few months here and there for holidays and break}. She is just finishing up her master's and I may be starting mine in the fall {yay!}, so I am looking forward to us spending lots of time together this summer especially as my parents are in US from Haiti then too!

    Enjoy your weekend!

  15. Slow relaxing day...skipped formal lunch...sister is far away which is a bummer. Sorta near your sister.......grilled cheese sounds great..I love adding tomato inside as well...

  16. I have one sister and one brother. My sister lives 10 miles from the town where we grew up - I think she has trouble leaving Kansas even though she always talks about it. That being said she lives a 13 hour drive away from me - boo! My brother lives about 11 hours from me in another direction - northern Wyoming. I have not seen him in over 3 years - nor my sister in law and niece. But hopefully we will get together this summer.

    1. I hope you have the BEST time. (I know you will). (You and your sister are close, aren't you?).
