On most mornings, the girls request granola or "cereal" (which means Kashi's 7 Whole Grain HoneyPuffs).
If we haven't already eaten every last bit of fresh fruit in our house (how does it go so quickly?), we devour bananas, blackberries, sliced strawberries, peaches, or raspberries.
Other times, we whip up one of our favorite breakfast recipes:

Around here we love oatmeal! And yogurt with some granola. My kids love cereal or waffles.

We are big fans of waffles with peanut butter in the morning. Sometimes we make them ahead and sometimes we just use eggos.
Eggs are an easy dinner for us and both of my guys love them we just don't have the time to make them in the morning.
I personally like to have a Greek Yogurt, when I have some on hand. My favorite is Chobani :)
Since cutting cereal out of our breakfasts, my husband or I usually make a big batch of homemade pancakes or waffles on the weekend that we freeze and eat during the week.
I can get Jack to eat eggs and toast some mornings, but Michael isn't a fan of eggs. I usually make eggs or a gluten and dairy free smoothie. Steve isn't big of breakfast, so he usually just has a cup of coffee and waits for lunch ):
Mornings are pretty hectic around here but we all sit down to a bowl of cold cereal and milk- my fav is crispix or quaker oatmeal squares but my kids like rice crispies or cheerios and we all have glasses of chocolate ovaltine which I started when I had to swallow horse sized prenatatl pills. My kids do love their tropicana OJ and they do get homemade pancakes for supper sometimes.
We don't drink much juice because of (a) the cost (compared to straight fruit), (b) the blood sugar spike from drinking 1-2 servings of fruit so fast and (c) trying to avoid creating a taste for sweet-tasting drinks. We try to stick to water and milk around here. That said, when we do buy juice it is usually orange juice because that is my favorite! We will also probably use juice to make popsicles this summer.
We recently bought Trader Joe's Orange-Strawberry-Banana juice for popsicles. Mmm. Perhaps you might want to give that kind a try?
For the last almost year, I have been so uninspired to make breakfasts during the week. We've been eating a LOT of cold cereal around here! Here is a special "treat" pancake recipe that I found, it is SO delicious!http://www.recipegirl.com/2011/03/01/cinnamon-roll-pancakes/ I usually double the pancake part of the recipe and sometimes we don't even need the glaze because they are so sweet!
I eat oatmeal for breakfast every day. Stephanie, as a soon-to-be nursing again mama(unless the baby has already been born?), did you know that oatmeal can help your milk supply? I can really tell a difference if I go without for a few days!
So interesting. Thanks for that tidbit. Fortunately, I haven't had any issues with supply...just with pain (ouch!). Can't wait until I can breastfeed without wincing/weeping. Hopefully soon.
Our breakfasts are usually rushed. When we have time to cook, this is one of our favorite recipes:
Almond Meal Pancakes
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. gluten free vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 1/2 cups blanched almond flour
- 1/2 tsp. unrefined sea salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1. Beat eggs and mix in other ingredients until smooth then stir in almond flour
2. Oil griddle with coconut oil over medium heat.
3. Fill spoonful with batter onto skillet.
4. When bubbles appear flip pancakes and cook other side.

We love scrambled eggs. Bananas, frozen blueberries, cereal, bagels and cinnamon bread. We drink lots of orange juice!

For breakfast we usually eat eggs, or whole grain cereal. If I have time I make oatmeal with fruit & nuts or pancakes with fruit in it. I try to get some fruit in all the time in the morning. I don't know why but fruit just tastes so good at breakfast - this is a great giveaway for stocking up on breakfast items/ fresh foods esp now that Target has groceries! :)

We drink green monster smoothies - one banana, 4 frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup orange juice, and a huge handful or two of fresh spinach. You don't even taste the spinach, but the added health benefits are amazing! We LOVE them!
My youngest eats breakfast at school or has cereal. Sometimes we have waffles or pancakes. I like to pan fry potatoes cut into small cubes and mix with bacon bits and scrambled eggs. Most mornings however I do a green smoothie w/ my Vita Mix. I use a good handful of fresh kale and spinach, frozen fruit such as pineapple, peaches and strawberries, a handful of baby carrots, a banana and sometimes an orange or an apple depending on my mood. I use vanilla coconut milk as my base and sometimes add vanilla yogurt. They are yummy and it gets me a good serving of greens every day. I still can't convince my picky boys to try one though.
My kids loves muffins on the weekends. Most mornings we are eating quick cereal before running out the door for school. But my girls love love love breakfast (eggs, toast, fruit) for dinner.
On school mornings (my oldest goes to preschool 2 days a week) we insist on a protein packed breakfast, otherwise she is asking for more food before we even leave the house. So those mornings, it is usually yogurt or eggs or a smoothie made with yogurt and kefir. Other mornings we have cereal, oatmeal, toast, and once a week pancakes. Ever since I read about all the stuff they do to make OJ taste the same (http://www.foodrenegade.com/secret-ingredient-your-orange-juice/), I rarely buy it. Plus having juice in the house just means my kids won't drink anything else :)

Right now I am really into oatmeal with peanut butter! But I often eat cereal, yogurt and fruit as well. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals even though I never seem to have enough time to sit down and enjoy it!
Recently we have been enjoying breakfast sandwiches: whole grain english muffins with one egg and some turkey bacon. Fruit on the side. Super filling! And my husband actually eats breakfast now! :-)
Granola and yogurt is my standard breakfast. Fruit and smoothies when I get hungry again!
During the week the kids and I usually have a boiled egg for breakfast. The kids love cereal, but I don't buy it often. They also enjoy cinnamon toast - I make that in the oven with the broiler! I have to have a protein at breakfast - an egg or piece of meat or toast with peanut butter - otherwise breakfast doesn't last me more than an hour!
On the weekend, we have french toast, biscuits and gravy, waffles, scrambled eggs, etc...

Our breakfasts vary from cereal, muffins, waffles, pancakes, and toast, but we mostly like juice with breakfast. I'll try different types of juices, but we always come back to orange juice as the most-requested.
Most of all, I love having breakfast time with my children because starting the day together over breakfast just starts it off in the right way!
OJ is a favorite with our girls too! We also recently discovered Trader Joe's Orange-Strawberry-Banana Juice...a refreshing blend (good for making popsicles too!).
Since going gluten free, our breakfasts have changed a bit. We do a lot of oatmeal, gluten free bread with peanut butter, or eggs. I find breakfast to be my most challenging meal fo the day trying to figure out something different each morning (and I'm not a morning person).
My toddler gets plain full-fat Greek yogurt every morning and I mash up frozen fruit (I've found the consistency to be better if it's frozen) with a fork and mix it in. No added sugar and she loves it! She then usually goes on to eat a good portion of *my* oatmeal too! :)
One of our breakfast favorites is an egg, cheese, ham sandwich on a toasted English muffin. We devour the fruit over here too! :)
Saturdays I make a big breakfast (pancakes or french toast or something) and we eat leftovers on Sundays. The rest of the week Noel and I mostly eat granola bars or fruit and Eleanor eats Eggos or yogurt. We're grab n go kind of breakfasters. :)
We eat breakfast at 8:30 too. I usually stay in bed nursing the babe while my husband showers and the older two watch PBS kids. Then my husband makes either homemade oatmeal with frozen berries or multigrain Cherrios with sliced bananas. And I always drink OJ. On the weekends we get special treats at a local donut shop that uses all natural ingredients. YUM!
So nice that you have a donut shop like that in your town!
We eat Raisin Bran or Granola everyday for breakfast! We like Simply Orange Juice to take vitamins with (sometimes water with vitamins leaves a funky taste in your mouth!)
Tropicana is totally the OJ in our fridge too. I am not sure if we are as healthy in the other areas but slowly but surely.

On the weekends, I will make waffles or pancakes with sweet potato puree in the batter. During the week, breakfast on the go is typically a protein smoothie, fruit or cereal bars...and coffee!

I'm a family of one and I typically have a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter to start the day, not too hungry in the mornings. Later in the morning I snack on granola bars or dry cold cereal

We love to make our own yogurt and then add some sugar-free jam to it to make for a sweet and yummy breakfast treat. Your post is reminding me that I need to stock up on o.j....my doula suggested it for the early part of labor when I need to keep my blood sugar level up for the work I'll face!

My son isn't much of a breakfast eater, but he CRAVES a full glass of ice cold whole milk right when he wakes up. I think it's leftover from when used to nurse him first thing in the morning. I usually have a slice of toast with peanut butter & raisins sprinkled on it or 2 eggs. If I have a sweet tooth, I make cinnamon toast in our toaster oven. My husband is content with a banana.

Our breakfast meals can be extremely varied from Jennie's Macaroons, bananas and coffee to large cheese, mushroom, assorted veggie & sometime meat omelets with mineral water and OJ. Lately every breakfast (really, every meal) has included avocado, since they're yummily in season. Today was an omelet day :)

Oh that sounds wonderful! Since being diagnosed with anxiety I pretty much have 2 eggs with half a potato and hot sauce, with orange juice every day! Sometimes toast if I don't have potatoes! :) The kids love cereal or toaster waffles! In the winter we do a lot of oatmeal and boiled egg whites but have gotten out of the habit.
I eat Special K with skim milk and sometimes have just a protein shake instead.
Now that my son discovered the toaster and that he could use it all by himself, we have a lot of toast for breakfast these days.
I admit I'm partial to Special K and Kashi cereals. I know, they're not the cheapest option but I love a quick breakfast. We also like to eat scrambled eggs, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Or the occasional bagel.
We eat a lot of oatmeal or cream of wheat. I also have several muffin recipes that I make large batches of and store in the freezer. Less than a minute in the microwave and it's like fresh baked. We also do large batches of pancakes and store them in the freezer too. The freezer is my lifesaver. It would take me close to an hour to have fresh baked food in the mornings and my 1 year old will not wait that long. What's also nice is that a muffin can make a quick snack in the afternoons too. I enjoy smoothies but normally not for breakfast - something about a loud blender in the morning just doesn't make me smile.
My kids love hot cerals like oatmeal and Red River a whole grain hot cereal from Canada. My kids love an occasional Dutch Baby for a weekend treat. We love Morning Glory muffins the best recipe we have found is from Gourmet Magazine just Google it.

Our little one loves variety for breakfast however we always include lots of fresh fruits. One of his favorite breakfast is a breakfast burrito. You can fill it with anything you want. Another favorite is granola and yogurt. It can be a challenge to think of breakfast ideas so I can't wait to get more ideas from this post!
We eat pretty much the same thing for breakfast every weekday. My kiddos LOVE oatmeal with a smidge of honey and I have a bowl of Trader Joe's fiber cereal with fresh fruit. On weekends Markus likes to make pancakes or waffles with fresh fruit on top!
We are "late" morning people around here too. :) We usually eat around 8:30. I try and make a variety of foods throughout the week for breakfast. Since I make most of our foods from scratch I have to prepare usually the night before. Some of the things we enjoy are, Breakfast Enchiladas, Granola, Buttermilk blueberry coffee cake,
Glazed Cinnamon scones, Homemade whole wheat poptarts, steel cut oats, and trail mix breakfast cookies.
Breakfast is my kiddos favorite meal of the day. They wake up excited to see what we are going to have.

We alternate between eggs and fruit and oatmeal with raisins. The boys can't have gluten so that limits the things we can bake for breakfast... and I save the gluten free pancake and waffle mixes for "breakfast for dinner" because I have to make 2 batches and I'm not a morning person... ;) I make 2 because the GF stuff is so expensive and Brian and I don't need it. :) We'll see if the girls have allergies too... could be interesting.
It varies, but my 1 year-old usually has a smoothie of almond milk, strawberries and spinich. My 2-year-old love Cherrios with a little granola sprinkled on top. We occationally have spinich pancakes (2 cups spinich, 1/4 cup raw almonds, 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut, 4 eggs all put in the food processor and then cooked on a griddle after the batter rests for 10 minutes to thicken). I tend to eat whatever I can get my hands on!
Most of the time it's Greek yogurt and granola, a glass of cranberry juice, and some sort of fruit. I tend to eat HUGE breakfasts and then smaller and smaller meals throughout the day.
That's a healthy way to eat (or so I've heard/read). Kudos!

We love Quaker oatmeal squares when we are in a hurry...my kids love it!
Our breakfast is very similar. Home made granola or weetabix cereal. Toast from home made bread. Fresh fruit. Oh and coffee for me!
On work/school days we have to be quick as we are out of the house at 6:45. I usually have a bowl of cream of wheat and coffee while my hubby and daughter share some hot oatmeal and juice!

8:30 is usually when we are eating breakfast too. Those cinnamon-peach cottage cheese pancakes sound delicious. Will be adding those in next week to try. I love muffins and waffles for breakfast. I can make a big batch and then have them for several days. Plus they freeze well & are easy to pull out and heat up without having to make a batch every morning.
Being a nurse and having to get up so early my mornings usually consisted of fruit or some kind of fruit smoothie made with our Vitamix. Since we adopted the boys my mornings aren't as early because I'm not working as much so I have more time to sit down with them. They enjoy blueberry pancakes and lots of fruit! :)

This post has inspired me to eat a better breakfast tomorrow morning! I'm never hungry in the morning but I always crave sweets...I went Paleo for a couple weeks then found out I was pregnant (due June 27th) and all I wanted was carbs...I'm hoping to try again after baby...thanks for the recipes!!!
We also eat a lot of eggs, and my husband has perfected a yummy granola recipe that's good with or without milk for breakfast. My kids also really like toast with cinnamon sugar on it (we use organic cane sugar and whole wheat bread), but eggs are definitely my favorite!
I typically will make a fruit smoothie or a farm fresh egg for breakfast.
For weekday breakfasts, we tend to eat multigrain Cheerio's or maybe a bagel with cream cheese... something quick and easy on the way out the door. Plus, my kids get breakfast at school later. For weekends though, I like to cook an egg IN something ... like toast with a hole in it or a circular slice of red bell pepper. For some reason, they like it more if it's in something. Or, pancakes are always a hit - I'll add some food coloring and make them fun!

We eat a lot of eggs. A lot. And I have been entering into the world of sourdough lately, so we eat sourdough waffles, whole wheat sourdough english muffins (all homemade!). SO good. And oatmeal, and fruit... Breakfast is my easiest meal. :)
Almost every morning I made oatmeal for my family. Some days Lily will consent for me to make Bob's Red Mill Cream of Wheat (Farina). We tend to same fruit for snacks and lunch, I'm not sure why.
Our weekday mornings are organized chaos with my husband getting up around 6 AM, my daughter at 6:30 and my son at 7:30. The kids grab something quick and easy. I've never been a big breakfast eater, so I just enjoy my cup of coffee after everybody is at work and school. Luckily on weekends we often do a big breakfast like a "garbage" bowl. Scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, salsa, cheese, tortilla chips, whatever is in the fridge.
Our breakfasts are eggs, pancakes, puffy pancakes, toast, bagels, smoothies, muffins or yogurt. Weekends we try to keep breakfast easy as we are always on the go.
We almost always have Toast with Peanut Butter (We're partial to Dave's Killer Bread) and/or Yogurt with fruit. Since ripe fresh fruit is hard to come by in the northwest we often settle for frozen blueberries and my kids have blue lips for half the day. :) Oh, and a big glass of Kalispell Kreamery milk.
Jesica, we eat a TON of frozen blueberries. We have gone through our supply of handpicked ones from the summer, so I am buying them again. And I am sure it's more than my kids' lips that are blue. Heavens! (and hi! How are you!? :))
Mmmm. Toast with peanut butter. Excellent idea! My grandpa used to have that for breakfast every morning.
Our girls like frozen blueberries too. We sometimes give our 3-year-old a bowl as a pre-dinner snack.
Same thing over here with the fruit, can't keep it around for more than a day or two. We do smoothies a lot, with spinach and organic frozen fruit from Costco or omelets. On Sundays and special days we do cereal or pancakes. Excited to try some of your recipe links!
Smoothies are a good option! We go through seasons where we make them often...particularly in the summer when the weather is hot.

With this pregnancy my breakfast choices are all over the place! bagels with cream cheese, cereal, smoothies, yogurt, toast...just depends on the day!
We like bagels & cream cheese too, but usually only have them as a "special treat." Cinnamon-raisin are a favorite around here!
My husband and I are on the Paleo diet, which means we don't eat anything processed. my absolutely favorite breakfast are banana cakes.
1 tbsp almond butter
1 tsp almond extract.
Mix. Cook like regular pancakes.
I top them with freshly cut strawberries and a dash of pure maple syrup.
They are better than regular pancakes, and can be made ahead of time and frozen!
Jeni, I am not paleo, but am trying to cut back the grains we eat (and when we do eat grains, I am sure to soak them overnite). This recipe looks great! Are you familiar with roost? (www.roostblog.com) I love a lot of her grain-free recipes. The almond flour muffins are killer! (I use almond meal from Trader Joe's.)
I haven't heard of Roost, I'll definitely have to check it out! We've only been on Paleo for about 5 weeks now, so I'm still trying to collect a bunch of recipes; thanks for the help!
