Where to Eat at Disneyland: Rancho del Zocalo

Before heading to Disneyland, I always research where to eat in the parks.

I'm specifically looking for: big portion sizes, healthy options, affordability, and shade (especially important for summer and fall visits).

Time and time again, we end up choosing Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. Located near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland in Disneyland, the Mexican restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a colorful cantina atmosphere.

On our most recent visit to Disneyland, we ate at Rancho del Zocalo TWICE - both times for lunch. The entrees range in price from $11-$15 and the portion size is hearty.

We were particularly impressed by the Tostada salads. Marinated beef ($13.49) or rolled chicken ($12.49) is tossed with refried beans, chopped lettuce, and cheddar cheese in an oversized crispy tortilla shell. One tostada salad can easily be shared between two or three small children.

We also enjoyed the Red Chile Enchilada Platter. Three delicious cheese enchiladas are served alongside rice and refried beans on colorful ceramic plates.

You'll also find burritos, street tacos, fire-grilled chicken, and caesar salad on the menu.

Our family usually forgoes children's meals and opts to split adult meals instead - but it's important to note that the "Mickey Check" meals at Rancho seem better than many of the available options at other Disney park restaurants. Your child can choose either a Bean & Cheese Burrito or a Chicken Taco - both are $6.99 and are served with rice, fruit, vegetables, and a choice of low fat milk or a small water bottle. Toddler meals are also available for $4.49.

Lunch and Dinner menus are the same - in price and offerings.

Aside from the filling entrees, the thing we like most about Rancho del Zocalo is the peaceful dining experience. Colorful painted tiles, soothing fountains, adobe archways, and hanging plants are all part of the laid-back decor. Plus, there is a handy water spicket for filling complimentary glasses or any water bottles you may have brought with you. Restrooms are also available.

All in all, Rancho del Zocalo is one of our top picks for dining at Disneyland!
