Work-From-Home Opportunities for Moms

money on treesHave you ever wanted to work from home on a part-time basis?

Perhaps one of the following scenarios describes you:

  1. You are working full-time, but want to scale back your hours due to the upcoming birth of a baby or a desire to spend more time with your school-age children.
  2. You are a full-time SAHM, but desire to utilize your skills and creativity to bring in a little bit of additional income for your family.
  3. You are searching for a position that will allow you to earn money "on your own time" - while your baby is sleeping/nursing, the kids are in school, etc.

I am pleased to introduce you to HireMyMom.com!

HireMyMom.com logoHireMyMom.com exists "To provide businesses with top talent for temporary and permanent projects while enabling mom professionals to capitalize on the freedom and flexibility to do top-rated work from home."

I recently had a chance to go "behind-the-scenes" and explore HMM to scope out the usefulness of the service. This is what I found:

At any given time, there are typically 200+ opportunities available. Most of the positions pay between $10-30/hour, but there are also positions that are contract and/or commission-based. Some of the positions are permanent; others are temporary. The type of positions that are available vary widely, but here are a few of the most recent postings:

  • Virtual Assistant
  • Bookkeeper
  • Sales
  • Graphic Artist/Illustrator
  • Legal Research
  • Ghostwriter
  • Book Editor
  • Translator
  • Blogger

On average, it appears that 1-5 new job opportunities are posted each day.

dollars and centsEssentially, you can gain access to these opportunities by purchasing a quarterly membership ($29.95) or an annual membership ($99). As soon as you join, you'll have immediate access to all of the listings in the project directory and can begin sending queries directly to companies that interest you. You'll also receive daily e-newsletter alerts that highlight recent job postings.

MY TAKE: If you're a moderately tech-savvy mama with 1-2 years of experience in your area of expertise (web design, blogging, human resources, etc.), there's a good chance that you'll find job postings of interest at HireMyMom.com. "Closing the deal" is up to you, of course...but finding clients is more than half the work...and HMM does that work for you! I think that $29.95 is a nominal fee to pay for the information received because having all of those job postings at your fingertips saves you valuable time and increases your chances of landing a credible contract/position in a shorter amount of time.

So - Are You Interested? I'm giving away a quarterly membership to one reader. You'll find the full contest details below. Please leave a relevant comment of your choice: Are you looking for a work-from-home job? Do you currently work from home? What questions do you have about HireMyMom.com? Etc.

WIN IT! One winner will receive a quarterly membership to HireMyMom.com ($29.95). 1. I've seen this site tossed around but never looked into it- I figured it was just another dead-end. Thank you for posting the review!

  2. I always thought that there should be a site out there that did this but could never find it. You are awesome.

  3. My Mortgage has doubled and my salary is down $20,000/yr so I would love an opportunity to earn extra money.

  4. I found your blog by way of Musings of a Housewife. First congrats on the birth of your baby! Precious!

I would really be interested in this opportunity. Unfortunately this economy downslide has hit my husband's business bad. We are in dire straights and I have tried to find a job but have not had any luck. I have experience in speaking, writing, and sales. But I am a fast learner and am willing to do my part. I think this is a fabulous way to find positions that can allow me to be home with my kids. I just don't have the extra money to pay for the fee, although it does sound reasonable. This would be a true blessing to my family. Thank you for the chance to win.

  5. I am curious about sites like this and have wanted to know if they are legitimate but was not willing to put out money without some real proof. I am interested in finding ways to supplement my income on the side and this is a site that has me intrigued.

  6. Hi, I'm a SAHM and before that I had years of customer service and office experience. This included sales. Today, I had the opporutnity to go to a job "preview" (what they call it) at Sitel. They contract to many clients including DirectTV and hotels. The pay is wonderful for this area - - starts at 9.25- after training its upped and after six months its 10.00 -not a whole lot but every other job in this area equal to my experience only pays 7.50 as opposed to upwards of 14.00 elsewhere. Best part - you can work at home. I'd already talked to another worker there and he loves his job. When my husband transfers again, I may even be able to still work for them - they are everywhere - in the states and abroad.

Only I underestimated getting my ducks in a row. We live far out of town and have only one vehicle - a truck my husband needs on base. And training is up to five weeks at a center before you start. We'd pay childcare out of just his check. And its expensive - we want a daycare we can trust. We know no one in this area - in this entire state who can watch our toddler - family and friends are far away. So I would need to find someone in just two days - Sitel called me two days ago. I tried calling up a mom I have babysat for me alot - usually spur of the momment and for no pay but she never called me back.

So I had to cancel. Would love a work at home job I don't have to do training for - that is unless I can do the training in house.

Do you think I should consider this site ifI don't win given my background - not in anything technical - but experience in office work, call centers, telephone and general office work and sales presentations/info sessions for weight loss.

  7. I am SAHM now but I was an accountant for years. I was just thinking the other day that I could do some part=time work. I would love to win this! You are right that finding the opportunity is half the battle! Thanks!

  8. I'd love to do some part time work when I become a SAHM. I've been working for so long now, I'm sure I will find it odd and difficult not to work. Thanks!

  9. I am a stay at home mom. My kids are not 'littles' any longer. The days when I never thought I would get a minute to myself are long gone. I've had thousands of minutes to myself. I am not prepared to relinquish my life to an office, but I sure am ready to be involved in something where my talents can be put to use. On my terms, of course.

  10. I am a military wife who has been through her share of TDY's, long TDY's and even 15 month deployments and I wouldn't change a thing. I love my country and am proud to be a military wife, however it isn't always easy, plus it often means a lot of stress and sacrifice. I had spent 15 years in emergency medicine and trauma as a Tech and spent my time helping others. When it came time for us to work on having a baby, that very work I loved so much, turned out to be a down fall to getting and staying pregnant. After nearly 6 years of trying specialist finally said, you want a baby then your going to have to walk away from medicine, at least until after you make it successfully through a pregnancy. It turns out I am a high risk and have never been able to make it past 4 weeks, well now we are going the IVF route and of course none of the costs are covered by our insurance. :-) So between the costs for IVF and the fact we gave up my income to be able to do so, Working from home is the option for me. Thank you for posting this resource, I am sure a lot of us out there have been taken a time our two by the scam companies out there it is nice to know there really are true Work from home companies.

    Thanks,

    Armywife

  11. A person who has a PC with high speed internet at his residence can earn good income by working from home. Niche marketing provides rare and specific products with a small market. He can put in some hard work and take interest in this marketing sector. If he is aiming at huge profits, he should select the product which consumers are longing for.

  12. I would love to win this and be able to check out the site to see if it is something that I can do. I am currently working full time with 3 kids at home and am looking to make a change. I really want to be home with my kids but still need to bring in some income.

  13. This would be a wonderful win. I am currently in the process of trying to find work I could do from home. I had no idea this site existed so it would be ideal for my search. Count me in on this one!

  14. As a recently state-side-returned missionary, I have been obsessed with trying to find extra ways to get income from home, via my writing and photography . . . this would be a fabulous resource!

  15. I would love to check this website out. I am wracking my brain trying to think of ways to make some additional money and still stay home. This sounds like it might have some ideas for me!

  16. I've been looking for a way to make some extra $$ since I am a graduate student and my son only goes to preschool 3 hours a day, so not a whole lot of time to work outside the house!

  17. I'm currently staying at home until I graduate from school. I would love to make a little money working from home!I plan on checking out the website and maybe joining.

  18. I've been trying to find opportunities to work at home so supplement our income and this seems like a wonderful site.

  19. Nowadays it is so hard to find legitmate jobs that are work from home which are not scams I think it is a great idea to charge for this information because then you know the job opportunities are real - what a wonderful concept.

  20. I already belong to this site, but wanted to chime in and say it's THE best source for legit jobs. THE best! And I have belonged to a few of them.

  21. I would love to find a permanent position. I've recently gone back for a second undergraduate degree in web development, and would love the chance to continue to stay-at-home with my 9mo daughter. Thank you so much for this giveaway!

  22. I have been blessed to be a SAHM for the past year and a half but truly my family needs part time income. I would love to learn more about these opportunities.

  23. My only concern has been finding legit opportunities... but it sounds like this is a great source... I hope to get more information, and hope most of all that I win!

  24. I am always looking for a way to earn some money from home. I would love this opportunity. I looked into this before but I did not want to pay the fee without knowing if I would get work or not.

Can't wait to hear the baby has arrived!!

  25. Do they have any jobs that don't require much experience? All I have ever had is retail jobs because I got married and had kids before finishing my degree and I hadn't really had any jobs before. I want to help contribute to the household financially but I don't trust anybody with my kids and don't really want to work until they start school, this would be kind of nice if they had 'entry level' jobs.

  26. I'd love to work from home. We're moving into a bigger house soon which would make working at home a lot easier for me, too, so I'm definitely interested in this!

  27. I am just starting to work from home now that my son is older. I didn't know they are looking for book editors, so I might really check this out!

  28. I have been wanting to get into this for a while, but with six kids, and working full time, I have limited funds to put towards a membership.. I know 30$ doesn't seem like a lot, but that is a few days of gas for me.

I would love to cut back some hours and spend more time at home. My toddlers are growing up so fast and I was a stay at home mom for the oldest three, I feel like my last three don't have as much of a chance with Mommy.

This would be a WONDERFUL thing for my family of seven.

  29. I'm a SAHM and I still find the need to be active doing business type things...preferably getting paid! This site really interests me but I wish you could get a glimpse of it for free.

  30. I wanted to do at home work&be a SAHM before I finally found a job....lol;)But who knows...maybe I'll change my mind again.I got a taste of being a SAHM for a little over a year&do wish I could do that again...this time with real income:)But oh well:)

    And hey!!Where's that baby?????

    ((hugs))

  31. I have been thinking about pursuing a work from home job and really did not know how to go about it. This is a great resource and takes out a lot of the time consuming leg work!

  32. That looks like a great resource. I just quit my full time job so I could be a SAHM but something part time would be nice to help make up some of my lost income.
    Thanks.

    No baby yet?

  33. This is exactly the type of informative site I've been looking for! I've been a SAHM ever since my son was born a year and a half ago, and lately with the downturn of the economy, our finances have become a little strained on my husband's sole income. I would love to be able to contribute to our household income while continuing to stay home with my child/children, and I've been racking my brain as to how I can do that! I have seven years teaching experience and one year of experience editing for an educational publisher, so I'm not sure if that's the type of background that might fit any HMM positions, but it would feel good to take one more proactive step towards finding some part-time, stay-at-home employment.

  34. This sounds really cool. I am not actively looking for a work at home job since I have a business (blogging, websites, etc.) but just recently took on a temp. job moderating a forum and a few other odd jobs and I love it. I have been working from home since 2001 doing a variety of things, starting out in the party plan/direct sales arena and moving on to affiliate marketing.

  35. As a professional Graphic Designer WAHM I would appreciate the opportunity to try out this service! I'm always hesitant to spend money on sites like this - I think it could be a great thing and could provide me with some new leads, but... if it doesn't I feel like I wasted my money and wasting my money isn't an option these days :)

  36. Just the other night I was trying to figure out how you could find out if any of those work-at-home job offer sites were legitimate or not. I've been trying to find a way to supplement our income from home. It's nice to know of one that is on the up-and-up.
