Working Mom Wednesday: Smead

Working Mom Wednesday: Smead 1Whether you work part time or full time for someone else, part time or full time for yourself, or at home as a SAHM, being organized will help you in your plight toward achieving peace and productivity in your life.

One important way to do that is to conquer the piles of paperwork in your home. Smead can help you get to where you want to be. Smead "has been dedicated to finding innovative ways to help you get organized for over 100 years." For example, you can buy filing products, shelving and storage, and software to assist you in creating your own home filing system.

My personal filing system is actually made up almost completely of Smead products. I have 12 different categories (Bills, Taxes, Education, Legal Documents, Insurance Policies, etc.) of color-coded file folders that hang in matching hanging folders. [If you're "going green," you can buy products made of 100% recycled materials.]

Smead is consistently coming out with new products to accommodate the needs of its customers and they love hearing customer feedback. Right now, you can join Club Organomics for ideas to help you stay organized. You can also read "advice from organizational experts and download a free e-book called "100 Ideas for Better Organization"on the Smead website.

Want to find Smead products? They're available at most office supply stores (think: Office Depot and OfficeMax), but you can search for a retailer near you on the Smead website. NOTE: Smead products are not available directly on Smead.com.

Working Mom Wednesday: Smead 2WIN IT! One mama will receive a Weekly Organizer from Smead, a new product designed to help you "keep your schedule, agenda and notes at your fingertips." To enter, simply leave a comment and your e-mail address on this post prior to Monday, March 3. The winner will be announced and contacted on Tuesday, March 4. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

* UPDATE * The winner is #167 jaydonco1. Congratulations!

NOTE: Are you just starting up a filing system? If you're not an organized type by nature or if you need a ready-made system that you can start today, I recommend checking out the MyVitalFiles system. If, however, you want a more elaborate or tailored system that you can create yourself, Smead is probably the way to go.

  2. I love Smead files and labels! I got a small 2008 planner, but it really isn't working for me, so I'd love to win this one.

  3. As my daughter gets older we just keep getting busier and busier! While I pride myself on being pretty organized this would definitely help me out a lot.

  4. Like so many moms I have a million things to do and never feel like I have enough time.
Getting organized is important because a lot of time gets wasted searching for things or trying to remember things.
    Thank you for the contest.

  14. Maybe it can help me figure out how to be two places at once. How do parents do it with more than two kids? Invariably both boys have activities at the same time.

  18. If anyone could do it I knew it would be you. This is the help I could use. I need a way to organize all the doctor apointments, home appointments and the papers and "to do" list. Thanks and please enter me.

  19. I agree with the first comment. It sucks not to be organized, because then we forget the things that keep us going. Lunch meetings with friends, or just remembering you told someone you'd have coffee with them. This is a great giveaway.

  21. Another Great Giveaway!! Just found out we are expecting #3 and organization is something I will be in desperate need of. Must start now..

  22. I HAVE to stay organized or I go crazy. The problem is making sure that my hubby and I are organized in the same way; if he puts something where he thinks it's best and that's not my place for it, I admittedly get irrationally annoyed. I need to work on that... Anyway, I'd love to win this! Thanks! [email protected]

  23. I have four children. People often ask me "how do you do it"? And I answer, it's easy you just have to stay organized! I would love to try Smead!

  24. I'm teaching two classes, showing at three galleries, shoots one day, flying here and there, and somewhere in there I have two kids, and trying for the third...I could use anything to help!...

  25. This weekly organizer looks great! It would take care of the pile of papers I have on my desk as my to do list :)

Please add me into your giveaway :)

  26. One of the greatest weapons a Mom can have is organization. Just like any other job it keeps us from having to repeat something, or worse, forgetting something important to the "sanity" of our lives. (Like a coffee date, or an important bill.)

    Great Giveaway!
