A Curling Iron for Curly Hair…

October 6, 2008 By Stephanie

When it comes to my hair, I’m a wash-and-go girl. I spend about 5 minutes on my hair on most days. It’s one of the advantages of naturally curly hair. I’ll admit that my hair is a bit wild and unruly looking at times, but it somehow looks kinda cute that way (sometimes…) because it’s curly.

A Curling Iron for Curly Hair... 1On special occasions or when I’m feeling a little bored with my usual no-fuss style, I pull out my Bed Head Light Me Up 3/4″ Styling Iron. This may surprise some people since I already have curly hair. BUT naturally curly hair (although it does have its own charm…) is NOT the same as the gorgeous, controlled ringlets that irons produce.

The Bed Head Light Me Up 3/4″ Styling Iron is specifically designed to “define naturally curly hair or to allow you to create your own masterpiece.” It features a nano ceramic barrel and heats up to 400 degrees in no time. I barely have to wait before the iron is hot and ready to work. Plus, the iron is funky and fun looking in bright turquoise with yellow buttons (a minor detail, I know…).

Bed Head Light Me Up Styling Irons are also available in 1″ and 1 1/2″ models if you want bigger curls. All Light Me Up irons can be purchased at a variety of retailers (including Target and Amazon.com) and cost around $20.

WIN IT! One winner will receive a Bed Head Light Me Up 3/4″ Styling Iron. To enter, leave a comment on this post prior to Tuesday, October 14 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winner is #171 Rachel Belkin. Congratulations!

Oh I can certainly relate to the naturally curly hair and not having those controled curls like you get from salon style. Everyone always tells me they wish they had curl in their hair, but I guess we wish for whatever we don’t have. This looks like a terrific curling iron to help those of us who need some extra help.

This is the first time I’ve heard of a curling iron specifically designed for naturally curly hair, and I think it is great. As much as I adore my natural curls, they tend to be pretty erratic — and frizzy — and, well, annoying at times. :)
