Christmas Gifts for New Moms

November 27, 2012 By Stephanie 3 Comments

New moms have a new set of wishes – more sleep, flattering clothes, a clean house, time to enjoy with baby, and silence. Help her toward these goals with gifts that will make her life easier.

Here are some fantastic (and functional!) gift ideas for the mom-to-be, nursing mom, or brand new mom.

Baby K’tan Baby Carrier

Highly rated on Amazon, the k’tan is a “wrap without all the wrapping.” What that means is that it’s a ready-to-wear wrap that enables parents & caregivers to comfortably carry infants and toddlers (from birth to 3 years) in multiple positions. There are no buckles and no straps – two cloth rings provide shoulder/back support for a comfortable carry. The wrap is also machine-washable and dryer safe. Available for $50, this is a wonderful gift pick at a good price point.

Lansinoh Pump

Although not a necessity, having a pump can certainly be a help to new moms in the first year and beyond. Pumps can be a lifesaver when moms are engorged or sore – and can also give moms the freedom to leave baby for a few hours to do errands, attend a business meeting, or have lunch with a friend. Lansinoh sells electric and manual pumps, along with accessories for storing and serving the milk. Need a stocking stuffer for a pregnant mom? Add a tube of Lansinoh HPA Lanolin.

Chewbeads Teething Jewelry

Once baby reaches a few months old, your ordinary jewelry may have to be put away for the future. Chubby little baby hands love grasping at necklaces, bracelets, and earrings – tugging and chewing. With Chewbeads, new moms can still accessorize their outfits and baby can have a built-in teether. The “beads” are 100% silicone. No BPA, no phthalates, no cadmium, no lead. Plus, they’re dishwasher safe. I wore the Jane Necklace in Cobalt Blue to a recent family gathering and it was the talk of the evening. Kudos to the designers!

BabyBjorn Travel Crib

Planning to travel for the holidays? Pack up a Travel Crib Light 2 by BabyBjorn. Weighing in at only 11 pounds, the crib sets up and tears down in one simple movement. It’s attractive, simple to use, and comes with a carrying case. Perfect for home, vacation, or trips to grandma’s house.

Try Me Trio by Mama Mio

Pregnancy hormones and cold winter weather can lead to very dry skin. Help a mama out by gifting her with a luxuriously lightweight cream that will smooth skin without making it oily. The Try Me Trio is an especially good pick because it also comes with a foaming cleanser and eye serum.

Will you be shopping for a new mother this year? What gift recommendations would you add?

This is perfect timing for me to find this post – my big sis is trying and I have a feeling she is going to tell me she is pregnant any day now. I’ve been thinking of the perfect gift to give her and I love this idea!!!

I am a new(ish) mom…our daughter is 6 months old. The Baby K’Tan has been a lifesaver for us. It is super simple to use and very comfortable. My daughter loves it. It’s great when we are out and about and it’s super helpful when I want to get things done around the house. I’ll even put her in it when she gets fussy, and within 5 mintues, she’s sleeping contently. I was able to get mine at Buy Buy Baby with a 20% coupon and paid $44.

Audrey is TOO CUTE playing with those beads. Love her little hands!

How thick is the mattress on the travel crib? We have a pack and play for our daughter when we travel but the mattress is so thin, she doesn’t sleep well and ends up in bed with us.

    Great ideas, Stephanie!
