Flagstaff, Arizona is a city ideally suited for camping. In fact, it's exactly what our kids typically describe as the perfect camping environment: perfect weather, glittering sunshine, cool breezes, and plentiful evergreen trees - with access to creeks and lakes as a bonus.
Flagstaff KOA Holiday offers 132 RV sites for all kinds of recreational vehicles. The sites are packed in pretty tight so you won't necessarily feel like you are "alone in nature," but if you've stayed at other KOAs, this one stays in line with the overall brand.
The average summer rate is $100/night. Off-season averages $75/night.
One of our favorite things about this campground is that children (ages 0-17) are always free and included with your reservation.
There are 35 tent sites at the Flagstaff KOA Holiday, which range in price from $30/night (off-season) to $40/night (summer). You can reserve a site without any hook-ups, with water, with electric, or both.
Two Deluxe Cabins, 4 Teepees, and 2 Camping Cabins are also available to rent for $99-$239/night.
If you are traveling with children, the playground is one of the first things they will notice when you arrive. The treehouse-inspired, log playground is large in scale with 2 big swings, 2 baby swings, 4 slides, 2 bridges, 2 climbing walls (one large, one small), and a rope ladder. Lots of fun for ages 2-10!
There is no swimming pool at the Flagstaff KOA Holiday, but the campground is only 2 miles from The Flagstaff Aquaplex, which is $4 for children (ages 6-11), $6.50 for youth (ages 12-17), and $9.50 for adults (ages 18+). If you have a large family, you can pay $32.75 for your household instead of paying by the person. Discounts are available for seniors and military.
Flagstaff KOA Holiday has a 1500 square foot jumping pillow toward the back of the property, which is open from April through October (currently closed due to COVID-19).
If you are traveling with your pooch, Flagstaff KOA Holiday has an on-site dog park.
Breakfast is served five days per week at a food truck style cafe with outdoor seating. Menu items are reasonably priced, ranging from $3.00-$7.50. You can also order a bottomless cup of coffee for $1.50. Note that a Kids/Seniors Breakfast Special is also available - one egg, one sausage patty or piece of bacon, and one pancake for $3.75.
As for grocery stores, your best bet would be to go to Safeway, which is across the street (less than a mile away).
Flagstaff KOA has restrooms, showers, and laundry. Our family opted to wait and do laundry at the next campground, however, since the facilities lacked appeal.
Checking in? Need advice about area attractions? Stop by the front office, which is a breeze to find. Look for the sunshine yellow awning and historic train mailbox.
Check-in is at 2:00pm, check-out is at 11:00am.
At the campground, kids can bounce on the giant jumping pillow, swing and slide on the woodsy playground, play foosball or pool in the Family Fun Zone, and take pictures in camping-themed photo spots.
There is also a hiking trail at the back of the campground.
You can stop by the office to pick up a free Scavenger Hunt - find items around camp and learn more about Northern Arizona!
Seasonally, there may be other activities offered: flashlight lollipop hunts (free), barrel train rides (free), and t-shirt decorating (additional fee).
Banana bikes are available for rent at the front desk for $5 per 1/2 hour or $8 per hour.
In the summer, FREE Family Movie Nights are offered on Fridays (6:00pm), Saturdays (8:00pm), and Sundays (6:00pm) with complimentary popcorn.

Since Flagstaff KOA Holiday is on the northeast side of town and is directly off of highway 89, many people also use this campground as a "home base" for venturing to the Grand Canyon (which is about an hour and a half away) and/or Sedona (about 50 minutes away).
