FOR THE PC MOM: Seagate Replica

seagate_replica_laptop_hrPC - as in a non-Mac-owning mom.

Although politically correct moms might like this gift too...

Moving on.

ATTN: PC moms!

If you're not worried about backing up your computer...you should be.

Especially if you store your "memories" (aka: pictures, movies, slideshows, etc.) or your "talents" (aka: that draft of your children's book, the first chapter of your novel, your birth story, etc.) there.

For many moms, though, I know that the term "back-up" is downright frightening. It sounds exceedingly complex. Just hearing the term makes you want to ask your husband or your nearest tech-savvy buddy to come read this post.

But wait! Seagate just introduced a product TODAY that is designed with you in mind.

seagate_replica_rightdocked_hrThe Seagate Replica is "an easy-to-use back up appliance that allows consumers to effortlessly execute a complete PC backup (including pictures, music, movies, operating system, programs and settings) - not just individual files and folders."

Essentially, you just plug in Replica ONCE, hit "ok" on the initial install (never again thereafter) and forget about it!

Check out this description from Seagate: "Unlike other complex blackup methods, Replica completely eliminates the need to manually learn, manage, and dedicate time to the backup process...Gone are the days of burning stacks of discs or saving only a few files on flash drives. With Replica, consumers have the comfort of knowing that they are prepared in the event of a data disaster - even a PC crash..."

There are two versions of the product available for purchase:

The multi-PC version of Seagate Replica includes a dock and is available for homes with two or more PCs (Suggested Retail Price: $199.99). The single-PC version is recommended for use with individual laptop or desktop computers (Suggested Retail Price: $129.99).

The Replica will be available in May exclusively through QVC. Additional online and retail outlets will be added thereafter and interested parties can check Seagate.com/Replica for more details.

YOUR TURN: Do you own a PC or a Mac? I'm a Mac Girl myself, but "to each his own..."

WIN IT! There will be two winners. Each winner will receive the Single-PC version of the Seagate Replica ($129.99). To enter, leave any topic-related comment on this post prior to Tuesday, May 5 at midnight (Don’t forget to follow the rules…all generic comments like “Enter me!,” “Love it,” and “Cool stuff!” will be disqualified.).

*UPDATE* The winners are #90 Ali and #184 Randy Bailey. Congratulations!

  1. This would be a great product to have on hand. Especially with kids with busy fingers always at the keyboard :)

  2. I need a backup system now that I'm taking more digital pictures and writing stories again. This would be a great win!

  3. My wife (the serious digital scrapbooker) really needs an effective back-up ... she nearly killed me when we almost lost the harddrive last year!

  4. I really need to back my files up and this actually looks like something even I can use!!! I am NOT a computer genius and to set most things up they use technical terms. Screech... I immediately have to stop because I have no idea what they want me to do. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway!

  5. I learned the hard way last year that you need to back up your computer. I lost all of our photos and important documents!
    Thanks!

  6. i always loved pc's because i've been PCing since first pc came out :D! i love macs but they are not very good for my purposes .. i'm a game, a pc gamer ..so yeah :) i'm PC

  7. well if you just knew what kind of pc i have .... it can't even run a firefox well because it has low profile specs :) ! would be nice if won this pc coz this is what i'm dreaming about :D

  8. I use a PC, and I'd love to win this back up all my music. I have too much and it is taking up all the room on my harddrive. Thank you.

  9. I use a PC. Why? Let's just say that I learned my lesson with 8-track players and um.... whatever the format of tapes was that was NOT VHS. From now on, I stick to the popular stuff.

I back up all my music, pictures, mail, and embroidery designs to a hard drive right before each time my mother comes to visit. I'm terrified that one of these times she's waving her mouse around without paying attention, she's going to wipe something out on my computer.

  10. After having my laptop crash and die on me during the holidays, I learned my lesson (the hard way!) about backing up my photos and data. My husband is always telling me to back up but I never did, now I will do it more often.

  11. i have soooooooooooooo many family pics on my pc..this would be so great to back them up..JUST IN CASE :(

  12. Finally, something that even computer novices can use to backup all their important stuff without having to 'find' it all first! I have clients that would benefit greatly from a device like this. As to the PC/Mac questions, my opinion is that Macs are made for people that want to merely use a computer for what a company tells them to do with it. PC people want to actually control their computer to do what they want to do... mac's are different enough to be annoying, but not different enough to be relavent. imho.

  13. we were just discussing this item last night,it's come to the time, that we need it. just checking them out online. what a great prize, and you gave such a good description, that it is now on my MUST GET LIST
thanks for the opportunity top win one.

  14. i'm a pc user myself. though there have been times i used a mac. i'm really not sure which i prefer. they both have advantages and disadvantages.

  15. I'm a PC mom.
This would be so Perfect for us. My husbands computer recently crashed and because we didn't have anything backed up we lost years of pictures of our children and family vacations.
Thank you so much for the chance to win.

  16. This would be great for my husband! He is alway screwing up his laptop and asking me to help him retrieve stuff while I'm in the middle of doing things on my desktop. It would be great for him to have this easy way of backing up his info without having to put it all on discs or memory sticks!! Way cool hardware... Thanks for the chance to win.

  17. I'd love to have one of these. I had a bad comp crash and lost all my pics. I don't want that again.

  18. This is just the ticket I have been looking for. I have been so worried about losing my photos on the computer if I had a crash. Thanks for the giveaway

  19. I am actually using my 3 year old iMac which I had to have semi-rebuilt last summer. I love it and the inverter and logic board went on it and rather than part with it, I chose to have it fixed. My husband has a Dell laptop which he swears by ~ yes, the battles of the apple vs pc does exist in our home, giggle! Right now we really need to do some major backing up of our files, which we are so behind in doing. That's why when I saw this giveaway of yours I had to enter, it would give us the motivation we need to just do it! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter.

  20. We have so many pictures on our computer from numerous trips, events, etc that my son is starting to get ticked off about all the space its taking up. I already use his computer, e-mail, etc for my computing activities. An external hard drive would allow me to keep the photos on it and claim them as my own! :)

  21. My Wife would love this! She lost all her Data about three months ago and is still working without a net.

  22. im regretting NOT having a backup memory peripheral because right when i bought my new pc, my old one got a virus and i have yet to deal with that in order to get my data x-ferred.. sigh! but thanks for the giveaway! (freaaa@gmail.com)

  23. I know I should backup my PC files, but I do not always do it. I think the Seagate Replica would be a big help to me.

  24. What a great prize. Unfortunately, because I was a little--what's the word I'm searching for--okay, DUMB, I lost 165 pages of unbacked up valuable material. It's corrupted. So innovations like the Seagate Replica are really boons to humanity.

  25. I need this! I didn't back up the info on my last computer and when the hard drive got destroyed I lost all my pics and info I had saved on it!

  26. IM a PC GIRL AND I SO NEED TO WIN THIS GIVEAWAY TO SAVE ALL MY PICS AND OTHER INFO FROM BEING LOST FOREVER:)TY 4 THE AWESOME GIVEAWAY AND 4 THE ENTRY:)

  27. I really need to win this, I got a virus on my PC and lost 2 years of work. I wish I had this Seagate at the time, it would have helped me so much.

  28. I use my roommate's computer, I don't do enough on a computer to buy one but this would be great for her (and what stuff I have on her computer too). Oh, she owns a PC

  29. The Replica would be a godsend - I have yet to find a hard drive and program that would make backups such a snap, and I definitely trust the Seagate name for quality and security. What piece of mind it would be to able to organize and replicate my important documents in a hassle-free way. Thanks for the giveaway!

  30. During christmas holiday my pc crashed and we lost all our pictures, music, kids online homework and much more. This is a great idea to save this from happening again.

    Thank you

    camper223[at]live[dot]com

  31. I have a Seagate back-up drive, so if I'm the lucky winner, I'll give it to my mom. She can play Freecell and post to her favorite forums, and that's about it. She doesn't even really know how to save things onto her computer, but I do, so there's a lot of photos on her hard drive - family, pets, her garden, her crafts. She lost everything once, but she still doesn't know how to back up. I'd feel a lot better knowing her irreplaceable photos are safe!

  32. I've lost a ton of digital scrapbooking stuff when my computer crashed. I've since backed it all up to disks...what a pain. This would be great!

  33. My stepson who used to take care of this PC is now in another state. He keeps telling me to backup my files but I am clueless as to how and what to get to do so. This sounds like the answer. Thanks.

  34. Our family is going through the effects of not backing up a PC right now. The pc in question luckily is one of many that we have, but what a pain, everything wiped out, including all of the drivers.

You don't know the meaning of fun until you've tried to get this computer back up and working with a screen and font that's huge because it doesn't have the proper display driver. I've never had to scroll so much in my life.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  35. sorry but I'm a PC person since that what all of my clients use and I have to develop on their platforms. I'd love to have something better than my current back-up process which is a combo of on-line and burning DVD's

  36. I have macs, pcs and linux boxes ( irun a small consulting firm from my home). Though an incident this weekend reminds me how import backups are. My sister's laptop was stolen and she had to handle the loss of all her data (it was unencrypted besides) reminds me that today the hardware loss is cheap compared to the value of the data.

  37. I have a PC and it's a little... sketchy. It always starts up just fine, but sometimes it seems to do its own thing, so I do worry that someday it is just going to not turn on. If that happened and I lost all the pictures of my two daughters, I would be devastated so I would love a reliable way to back them up. Thanks!

  38. like many people i don't currently back up my pc and know i really need to start protecting the data especially all the digital photos which are irreplaceable.

  39. You can never backup enough. It's bad if you lose your files but worse if you lose your backups too! And I have done that!

  40. I'm a pc user - found out the hard way that I really do need a backup - this one sounds great

  41. I buy a new external disk drive every year or so to keep a local backup. I'm due to buy a new one, so this would come in handy.

  42. This sounds perfect! I have thousands of photos on my PC, and I always worry about the computer crashing and everything disappearing!

    vvperesk(at)gmail(dot)com

  43. I have a PC myself, and it's full of photos, music, and other files that I'd love to back-up with a simple, user-friendly system like this!

    Katie
    showbizkp[at]gmail[dot]com

  44. Just a click of the mouse is all it takes to back up a PC to the Seagate Replica, a new external model from the hard drive maker. Seagate thus joins a number of other companies in trying to radically simplify back ups. They're trying to stir us from our dangerous lethargy of computing without a safety net.

Just plug the Replica into the USB port on a PC and it automatically loads its own software. The ever-cautious Seagate requires you to click once on a license agreement, and then the software quietly does its thing in the background. It backs up the PC's main hard drive, and updates the backup as files change.

I really need one of these!

  45. This would be an excellent gift for my wife. She uses a PC and has on it not only her work (she is a freelance writer) but family photos and her amazing music collection for our son.

  46. My computer finally gave out and I know there are some pictures and things I will not be able to recover. My husband could really use this as well. Thanks for the chance!

  47. I am an actor and its so essential for me to keep all of my theater pictures, videos, etc. on the computer for easy uploading. This would be a great device so I can easily backup all of my files.

  48. This is the perfect giveaway for my little family. We have so many pictures and videos of our 2 1/2 year old and I have been so scared of loosing them all!

  49. I have been using cds every couple of months to back up my computer and its SUCH a PAIN! This would save me plenty of time and space! A great giveaway! Thanks!

  50. We could use something like this to do our backups. I'd hate to explain to my wife what happened to all of our pictures if our current HD crashes. Thank you for the opportunity to win and for the great review. PC's have needed something like this for a while.

  51. OHHH we could really use one of these. I'm so afraid my computer is going to crash and I'll loose all my pictures. We just can't afford one right now. My fingers are crossed for this one!! PLEASE!!!!

  52. I use Windows, Linux and Mac with systems doing different things all over the house. My guest computer runs linux to avoid any virus issues. Wife uses a Macbook pro for ease of use and to avoid those viruses. My media center runs Vista as that seems to work pretty well for that kind of thing, and so I can use hulu on the big screen.

  53. We've been PC people, but my hubby lost a bet and we now have a Mac as well. Not sure I like Mac's yet, but it's growing on me!
    bebemiqui82(at)yahoo(dot)com

  54. I'm a PC. With pictures of my family and a graphic design business, back-ups are a necessary evil for me. This would be a great addition to my desk to keep the back-up demons away. ;)

  55. I own a PC...Macs are just way out of my price range! I could really use this...my computer hasn't been backed up in...well...ages.

  56. I don't have a back up system right now i and am nervous about it. this would be a mind saver! thanks for the chance!

  57. We've got five PC's, one nice back up system and a tangle of zip drives...this would make life a lot simpler!

  58. I like the fact that this is a sleek and small back up system. I still have a very large, old dusty back up device which is going down hill fast. Then I will panic and that is when I will lose it. I am a PC woman and your right to each her own.

  59. I'm a PC and my sister is a Mac and neither of us can use the other's computer. Like you said, to each his own.
I could use something like this to back up all of my pictures and music. It looks so easy to use.
    Thanks for the chance.

  60. My PC would thank you very much if I won this to use for backing up!

    txhottie_86 at yahoo dot com

  61. I know I really need this. I have bad luck with my computers, so if I had a back-up I could easily manage, that would B great

  62. My husband is a computer nerd by profession and I would love to win this, hook it up, and back up all of our pictures and music without having to ask for his help. He would be in awe!

  63. I have lost photos due to two crashes in the past. With the economy I can't afford this luxury, but thank you for the chance to win it!

  64. We are PC/Mac household, I'm a PC and my husband is a Mac person!
I'd love to have this, thanks for the chance :)

  65. I would love to have this especially since my computer crashed not long ago and I lost many of the pictures that were on my computer. I definitely need to have a backup solution. Thanks for the giveaway.

  66. Even with the huge jump in storage available by going from CDRom to DVD (from 650 Megabytes or so, to 4.something Gigabytes or so), the typical size of system hard drives has gotten bigger faster... We're now talking 25 or 30 DVDs to fully backup my desktop system, JUST the files, not the registry or operating system in any recoverable form, JUST the files... And any kind of ongoing backup (just tracking stuff that has changed) is still a nightmare.

This gizmo would be greatly appreciated, thank!

  67. Ya know, it's about time that back up solutions became simplified and automated. This sounds like just the ticket for those of us who never think of backing up sensitive or irreplaceable files until the unthinkable happens. I've learned my lesson the hard way with losing data in the past because of hardware failures, but that still doesn't mean I actually back up on a frequent basis. It's just not something you think of every day (or even every week or month). So having this chore automated for me would be a blessing!!

  68. This is a great idea! Right now my husband does the same thing for my PC in Linux, but I can't do it, so it doesn't get backed up often enough@

  69. I'm a PC girl myself, but have been considering a Mac on my next purchase. I definetly should be backing up all my stuff and this would come in handy. Thanks.

  70. We have 6 computers in our house (six!). One is just for the television - we dropped cable a few months ago and watch everything online now... viewing when we want, and free!

  71. This is a great prize, there is always a need for an appliance that will sucessfully save all my data, just in case its needed

  72. Wow! What a great prize! Backing up your files is important, but you need to remember to do it. The Segate Replica would make it efforlessly! I would really like to win this!

  73. PC girl here, always have been, and if I ever tried something different it would probably be some flavor of Linux.

  74. I'm a PC girl but after last year's computer crash I am contemplating a MAC. I lost all my pictures and iTunes, it was a total loss.

  75. i've been meaning to get some kind of backup setup for my pc, be quite the bummer if it croaked and tool all my pics with it

  76. This sounds great. I have a portable hard drive but I don't know how to just do regular backups. I have saved a bunch of files but have to do it manually. This would be a breeze!

  77. I am a PCer, have been for 20 years. I remember when 33 mhz was fast, OMG

I also back up on cds and can never find what I need after a format. GRRRR

  78. Unfortunately,I found out the hard way when everything was lost on my computer. I need this especially to keep track of my oversea friends information.

  79. I could so use this! I have a PC and periodically I back up everything on a bunch of CDs and then can't find anything ever again if I do need it. (But I know it's there someplace.)

  80. I love Macs, but can't afford them, so I muddle through with a PC. (Love the latest Mac vs. PC tv commercial, with the screen full of legalese.)

  81. We have a PC. Macs are too expensive! =)
I recently backed up all of our photos, but nothing else. It would be nice to have something easy and quick to do it, and compact too! We have stacks of CDs of our backed up photos!

  82. I have PC. Just never was interested in a MAC...don't know why.
I would love to win this for my mom. She could really use something this simple for back-ups. The less she had to do with the computer, the better. Plus we can't have her lose the precious pictures of her only grandchild!

  83. I have both. A PC desktop and a Mac laptop. I use the laptop for travel but the PC see's 95% of my internet time. I've got gob's of travel photo's from all around the world and have only a few of my albums safely backed up. I never seem to get around to burning all those DVD's.

  84. I would love to win this for my PC. I'm running out of hard drive space, and I've got pictures and music backed up on many CD's that are scattered all over my house. I like that this will keep all these files stored safely in one place. Thanks for the giveaway.

  85. I've always been a PC person, but I've used Macs from time to time. It's a matter of personal preference for me. A way to backup my system would be fantastic, since I get lazy about backing things up. I keep telling myself that I'll do it later. I should have learned my lesson by now. Thanks for the giveaway!

  86. I don't have a way to back up my important files and photos. This looks like a great way and easy way to do it.

  87. Products like this are necessary. The main reason I still don't do regular backups, despite being burned before, is the lack of discipline and schedule. This solves so many of the problems. Yes please!

  88. It's just what I need for the forgotten files scattered around my hard drive. Please accept my entry. Thank you.

  89. I have been thinking about the fact that I do not have any backup for the years of data on my pc. This sounds so perfect for me since I don't consider myself computer knowledgable at all.

  90. I backed up my PC for the first time a coupla weeks ago - Ugh! Disk after disk after disk! Then today I happen upon your site and I read "plug in Replica ONCE, hit “ok” on the initial install (never again thereafter) and forget about it!" My God! If it's really THAT easy I've got to win this thing. SEAGATE deserves a monster award or something! So "random integer generator", pick me pick me pick me .......

  91. I love Macs for their beautiful, refined style and operating system that "just works", but PCs are certainly a mainstay in the office--where this would prove more than useful!

  92. I couldn't imagine losing half the stuff I have stored on my computer. It is SO important to have back up storage

  93. I'm a PC girl. My hubby is a geek and builds our computers. In fact he is in the process of upgrading my memory this weekend.
He has a Mac laptop for work and he loves it to death. I sometimes think he would rather have that then me. probably not though. :)

  94. i have all my pictures on the HD and keeping my Fingers crossed that it doesnt crash on me ... this would be a life saver !

    thanx

  95. Oh, how I would LOVE to win this! I was just thinking today that there has got to be an easier way to back up my pictures! This sounds amazing!
    sblilly14(@)yahoo(.)com

  96. I'm a PC girl, mainly because it cost less than owning a Mac.

    (secretly I wouldn't mind owning a Mac, though) ;)

    elkaye[at]gmail[dot]com

  97. This is just what I need to get into the backup habit. Right now it seems too difficult. Of course if I lose all my photos I would regret not taking the time to do so.

  98. I'm not very techno savvy so I don't always pay attention to all of the details I should, this would be great!

  99. I've got a PC and I am ashamed to say I have no backup plan in force at this time so this would come in really handy for me!

  100. This would be perfect for our family, our computer is older so not only is it at higher risk to have problems, but it has a ton of important information stored.

  101. I need to be better about backing up. I always start with good intentions, but I never get around to it. I already lost one PC and was able to recover my pictures, but I dont want it to happen again!

I am a PC by the way!

  102. lol, loved this post, very well written. i have a PC, but i'm a MAC girl in spirit ;) i have had so much trouble with PCs, my laptop crashed last summer and i lost a lot of old home movies and important photos, not to mention part of my manuscript i am writing! it was horrible, so this Seagate Replica would be an awesome help. next time i buy a computer, i'm going MAC! :)

    Thanks!

  103. I noticed the review on the Seagate Replica and wanted to point out something VERY important that was not mentioned. The Seagate Replica does a full image scan. This may sound like a great feature, but what needs to be highlighted here is that it is EXTREMELY difficult to restore your data back onto your computer. With an image backup - you must restore back to your original PC with identical specs. What if your computer got stolen or completely broke - then what? You cant access any of the data you saved. Additionally, when you do a full image restore, you must boot from a CD into a linux kernal. Do you even know how to do that? I sure dont. This is not an easy solution so please do not be fooled.

I would recomend that you check out the products offered by Clickfree

  104. I have been a pc girl but never really used a mac before. I have so many pictures that I'm afraid I will loose and have no way to save them at the moment. This would be so great to have!

  105. I have been meaning to back up my pictures...I would be heart broken if I lost any of my daughter's pics from the past two years. This would be a wonderful prize to win! m_huston(at)hotmail(dot)com

  106. I am really in need of something to back up my files. I checked this out and it looks like it would do the trick for my needs!

  107. I am a PC girl although hubby is a MAC boy. It's just one of those things where he grew up on MAC and I on PC. This item would be great since we have had issues with losing our files and we learned the hard way to back everything up!

  108. I've already lost photos from one computer dying. Fashdrives are to easy to lose. This would be perfect.

  109. I'm a PC girl. We have 5 of them in the household. It would be great to have a reliable backup system. I am a writer and backing up is very important.

  110. I have never made a backup of my PC because of the time and hassle involved. What a fantastic item and so convient. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  111. What a great product! To just plug it in, install it once and then not have to worry about it would be extremely convenient. Thanks for having the giveaway!

  112. I just started saving photos on my computer. Unfortunately, our computer is getting a little old and slow. I am a little concerned that I may lose everything I have saved. This would be great!

  113. It's really that simple? I need to get this. I have all of my photos on my computer, and they're one of the only things that I would be devastated about if they were lost. All those precious newborn pictures. I know next to nothing about computers, so this is good information for me! And as for Mac vs. PC? Noooo idea! I'm sure I'd like a Mac just as well if I had one. Whatever is EASY, SIMPLE, and idiot-proof works for me!

  114. I'm a somewhat newly converted Mac mommy, but my PC-loving parents could use this to back up their information. I especially love that it looks easy to use, as my mom is...shall we say, technologically challenged (to say the least)?

  115. I've recently been discussing with friends and co-workers how inexpensive storage has become, but how complex software and operating systems have become. It seems that remote backups should have become a very simple (1 or 2 clicks) by now, and this product seems to be just the thing.

  116. I really need this back up system...and it's made by Seagate! Doesn't get any better than that. :-)
    Thank you. :-)

  117. I have been looking for an easy way to backup my computer. This device looks like it would be simple to use.

  118. As someone who recently lost 3 years of video, I know how important it is to back up. This would be a dream to own.

  119. Would love to win this to back up all the precious pics of family and special events. Don't even want to think about losing them. Please count me in. Thank!!

  120. mu husband has been toying with hooking up the pc to the tv for entertainment, the hdd would allow us to store all our videos ad pics for that reason.

  121. There are two kinds of people in the world.

    Those that do backups
    and
Those that WISH they had done backups.

Anything to make it easier is a blessing.

  122. Well, I'm a PC GAL here, too (although I've used a Mac for years at work). This is one gadget I need really bad, because it never fails that just when I least expect it, something happens and I end up losing irreplaceable data or pictures ... very upsetting.
This would be a wonderful accessory to own, and since I have a PC it would be perfect :)

  123. I would really love to win this Seagate. I've been wanting to get a backup since we had gotten a virus in our computer a few months ago and we had to dump everything, including photo's. What a wonderful prize.
Thanks so much for offering this giveaway.

  124. First off, gotta tell you that your blog posts always crack me up.

Anyway, I like the idea of this gizmo. My husband got himself (note: HIMSELF) a backup external hard drive and it is still in the box. I would love to try this backup device as it would help me protect all of those personal photos and files and show my husband that I was able to accomplish what he hasn't! Hah!

  125. I have a PC, but I kind of want a MAC after seeing my son's. My choice to go with the PC was really purely financial.

  126. Oh how I need one of these!! I've had 2 computers crash on me in the past and I lost everything! I want to be prepared in case it happens again! It would also be great if I decided to upgrade to a new computer. Thanks.

  127. I have tried a few different back up routes. I have a jump drive I put my pictures on, they are all digital. I have also tried to burn CD's of the pictures, they take up a lot of space. Before I had children, my computer died, I had a lot of documents and pictures that were lost. They were un-recoveralbe. I really think this would take the head-ache out of backing up all those important documents!

  128. I definitely have to agree that the ease of backing-up your information with this would be great since I am not too computer savvy. Thanks for a great giveaway :)

  129. I too have a PC (but secretly wish for a MAC!) and worry about having my stuff backed up. I have rescue disks but that's not gonna save all my pics and word docs. I truly need something to back up everything on this several years old pc. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  130. I'm a PC girl at heart, but have used Mac in the educational world. This looks like something I need as my computer at home is telling me more and more often that it is running out of memory. My husband has told me that we need to expand or I might lose what I have, and that wouldn't be good...time to back up!

  131. I have dreams of becoming a mac momma, but until then it's pc for me. I do back up my photo files and other important documents, but I borrow the backup device from my dad. He'd be really glad if I won this, and so would I of course!

  132. I have a pc, but would love to have a mac. Just can't afford it. I also desperately need to back up my photos, writing,e tc, so this would be a great product for me! :)

  133. We own a PC and have the little stick to back stuff up on but we have only used it once or twice. This would be great - now I just need to find the time to sit down and organize all of our photos into pretty scrap books.

  134. I would love to win this! It'd be a great addition to help backup my family photos that are on my computer!

  135. I am a PC lady, and could sooo use this... I know I should back everything up, but haven't in quite a while. Thanks!

  136. I am very lucky. When my hard drive had problems last year, the computer shop I brought it to was able to make an exact copy of the drive, so I didn't lose anything. I don't do back-ups often enough. The Seagate Replica sounds like it would make backing up a lot easier.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  137. PC family here. I am always asking my techie-brained son to teach me about backing up everything, and I am still learning. Great giveaway!

  138. just formatted my laptop to upgrade to windows 7, lots of bugs, but wouldve been nice to backup all my things quick as that instead i had to burn all my files to dvds hehe

  139. I'm definitely a PC mom, and I'm guilty of forgetting to backup my hard drive on a regular basis. It's just such a PITA to remember to do it. I had a scare a few weeks back when I got the "blue screen of death," but did that get my butt in gear? Nope.

  140. I own a PC and in the past have lost several thousand photos from mission trips. I had made copies (on CDs) to send to other team members and was able to get copies back....but, that was a very close call. I would love to be able to have a hard drive back-up!

  141. I have been through the experience of losing irreplaceable files when a hard drive crashed, and it is awful. Hundreds of photos are just gone forever. I'd love to win this, but even if I don't, I urge everyone to buy a backup system like the Replica. You'll never regret having one!

  142. I own a pc, I have used macs though when I took video editing, they were cool but I would need more time with one to decide if I wanted to actually buy one. As for the Replica, wow, it sounds awesome! I hadn't heard about Seagate before your last review and give away of the Go drives and desktop terabyte, but I am not all into the hard drive world of computers. I love their Go drive, with the Seagate manager you can set it up to back up certain files every night at a certain time or customize it to once a week or something, it is much simpler than how I used to back things up, hence the reason I almost lost all my pictures before. I hardly ever used to back up anything, now that I have my Go drive I am backing up stuff all the time. Plus we just bought a Seagate terabyte from Wal Mart, ran around $190-something but it is worth it. Next I want to buy a dock for my Go drive. Another good thing about Seagate is their great customer service and public relations, it is worth shopping their site just for that. Right now they are offering a free dock and free shipping with the purchace of a FreeAgent Go drive on their website. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  143. Perfect timing! lol! My daughters b-day is in a couple of weeks, she's been wanting one of these but I had no clue what exactly it was! lol! Thank you for the excellent review and giveaway! :)

  144. I believe I've already mentioned my pathetic lack of back up-- and how it's already cost me baby pictures. I could use this!

  145. I'm a PC owner, but only because I can't afford a delicious Mac . . . This back up device looks great, I always get a nervous flutter about having all my pix stored on my hard drive!

  146. My husband and I were just discussing how we need to back up our photos because if we had a melt down we would lose all the photos of our daughter!! NO NO NO!

  147. This looks awesome! I really need to back my files up. We recently got a new SLR camera, and the files are ginormous, plus I know my fabulous Dell isn't going to live forever. Winning would be awesome, but it might be worth the investment regardless!!

  148. I have been wanting to own a Mac since high school and we got the choice to work on either one in our computer lab. Unfortunately, all the software I need to use in my practice is not Mac-compliant. My laptop is multi-purpose for practice records, photo-editing and blogging. However, one day, I WILL own a Mac, and it will be a most lovely day.

  149. We're PC. Backing up the family PC was my husband's "job". I've lost years of work because he wasn't doing his "job", uh, several times now. Now I do it but hey, don't they make dayplanners for men? I'm a busy mom...this product would be a stress/timesaver.

  150. The ease of this makes my heart hurt. I need something that doesn't take a computer science degree to back things up on my laptop. I kind of just cross my fingers and hope that it starts every morning!!

  151. I just did a HUGE backup today. My external HD is HUGE in size compared to my husband's tiny little credit card sized one (but it's his and he rarely let's me play with it...LOL)....but we backed up my important stuff on both just to be safe; I am so paranoid. This product looks at least half the size of my current one and WAY easier to operate! I'd love to win one and that's a fact.

    K.

  152. It sounds great... mindless backup capability. I don't mind doing the work, it's remembering to do it that is the problem!!

This would be a great fix for me. Thanks for the chance!

  153. As someone who has 'lost everything' in past computer crashes, drive failures, etc., I try to back up as much as possible, but it's such a pain! It always seems I'm guilty of 'I'll do it tomorrow...' syndrome. I need an easy-to-use back-up method because, believe me..., computers tend to crash without warning. 'Tomorrow' is always too late but I still procrastinate... I definitely need the pc version of this...

  154. We used to own a mac but we needed a computer with more space and PC's were a better fit for our current budget. I am always saving all our files and pictures to disk. I think a gadget like this would make savings files so much easier.

Oh and did you hear? The first Mac specific virus has recently been discovered.

  155. I just have to have it! Our PC crashed recently, and I think we might have lost all our pictures! (hope not, but it's now for professionals to decide...)

  156. I am a PC girl, probably since I used to do programing (not any more, I forgot it all)
We ddon't really back up either. I do upload all my pic to shutterfly so I guess they are my picture back-up

  157. It's funny you posted this today, because I was just telling my husband I needed to start backing up my pictures now that I have this awesome new camera.

Plus, we're going to get a new computer soon and I need to transfer my photo's to it.

You just never know when your computer is going to crash...

    Nell
