Pears & Bears: Sophisticated Sweetness for Little Girls (and their mamas too)

March 27, 2008 By Stephanie

Pears & Bears: Sophisticated Sweetness for Little Girls (and their mamas too) 1Springtime just might be my favorite season. It’s full of flowers and sunshine, cool breezes and blushing cheeks, open-toed sandals and barefeet. It’s also a great time for dresses. I’ve been putting my daughter in them at least a few times a week – usually with jeans underneath (it’s very chic, I assure you).I prefer dresses for little girls that are whimsical and modest, playful and childish – yet with whispers from years past.

I’m not particularly fond of the tween/teen look modified to infant and toddler sizes. I tire of seeing spaghetti straps and mini skirts, tube tops and “Spoiled” t-shirts in 6M and 2T sizes (or maybe at all, but I’ll leave that for another post). That’s not really my thing. So, you can imagine my delight when I found Kayce Hughes’ Pears and Bears Children’s Collections.I bet you’ll swoon over these beautiful dresses for dress-up or playtime.

Kayce Hughes has seven children – ranging in age from 2 and 14. She lives with her family in Tennessee. Prior to opening Pears and Bears, she worked for Ralph Lauren in the Women’s Design department.

I just found out that I am pregnant with my first little girl after 2 boys. I can’t wait to have the chance to use little dresses and hair ties! I love that these dresses are full coverage. Now they just need to start making them with organic/natural fabric!

Wow, what beautiful dresses! I’m entering and hoping to win a dress for my 6 month old from the Spring collection (maybe the sleeveless party dress which my husband calls a “tickle dress”) but in the meantime, I’m ordering from their sale rack and getting two dresses for my older girls ages 7 and 9. Thanks for introducing this website to me. And, Kayce has 7 children, a woman after my own heart. Thanks

Wow, I love the Melody dresses in the girl’s collection. And the “hanky” dress in the women’s collection is pretty neat. It would be the perfect dress to wear on a picnic!

I swear I left a comment last night but maybe I only thought I hit enter. In any case I love these dresses. My girls just live in dresses. I agree that I don’t care for the tween (sexy look) and how it is creeping down to toddlers. My favorite dress is the pink melodie dress.

These are beautiful, classic dresses. Definitely don’t get me started on the “Britney-Spears-for-5-year-olds” fashions – although I would love to see a post on the matter from you someday! I don’t have a little girl to dress (yet), but I’m a big fan of fun dresses for myself! (I love all the skirts in her Spring Women’s Collection)

Yes, the Melodie dress is perfect… all the styles. My favorite.. Oh.. so hard to chose.. probably the blue one with the anchor.

I love having my girls dressed up and looking different than the others running around. Having an extensive and varied wardrobe is wonderful and it’s hard to find such classic designs anymore.

    I LOVE this giveaway!

Oh man, my girl cannot get enough dresses! It’s all I can do to get her to wear pants and a shirt some days. She would LOVE to win one of these adorable dresses. And speaking of inappropriate kid stuff, I remember when my hubby and I were engaged we were at the beach and saw a kid wearing some of those pants that say something on the bootie. He said, “My daughter will NEVER wear anything that has words on the butt!” It’s nice to see that some people still appreciate a kid being a kid and not a hooker (oh, excuse me, I meant grown up…).

I love the full swirly skirt on the Melodie dress. I can just imagine my daughter spinning around and doing her “ballet” dances just to get the skirt to fly.

My daughter would look so pretty in the green pique melodie dress from the children’s collection. It looks so classic. My husband and I agree with you – we are not into the spaghetti strap/mini skirt/belly showing “fashions”. We’d rather spend a little more to have an appropriate wardrobe for her. Thanks for introducing this site to us.
