Ready For Summer!

June 26, 2017 By Stephanie

* Thanks to Poolmaster, JoJo Maman Bebe, and Zoku for sending fun summery products.

Even though I live in the Arizona desert (where the sun is intense and temperatures soar!), I always look forward to summer!

I love the long, lazy days of swimming, reading, sleeping in, staying up late, writing, eating watermelon + cherries, catching up on projects around the house, taking road trips, and reading some more!

This is our first year with a swimming pool of our own and I never want to go back! It’s such a gift to have an activity to do every single day of the summer. All three of our girls are on a local swim team, but we also spend quite a bit of time in our pool at home too. They love doing handstands, playing underwater tea party, doing crazy jumps off the diving board (you should see the karate jump!), practicing their strokes + dives, and racing across the pool.

Inflatables

The water temperature has been absolutely perfect the last few weeks and I’ve been bringing the baby in too. He loves the water and is quite content in his little baby bear rider – or in my arms.

As for the girls, they have been having mega-fun on this jumbo duck.

Poolmaster has inflatables in every shape and size. Want to float on a giant pizza slice? A swan? A chocolate-dipped pretzel? Sure thing!

*I would caution against inflatables for non-swimmers though. They strike me as being extra dangerous for little ones who aren’t comfortable in the water since they provide a false sense of security. We tend to bring them out for family swims or get-togethers with stronger swimmers.

  • BUY Jumbo Duck, Bloomin’ Tube, Juice Pop, or Baby Bear Rider.

Swimwear & Gear

Our littlest guy has been wearing a two-piece shark sun protection suit by JoJo Maman Bebe. Stretchy, comfy, vivid colors – with lots of sun protective benefits, to boot! Please do check out their entire line of swim wear and gear for newborns up to age 6 or so.

They also have wetsuits! And sunglasses! And beach shoes!

Popsicles

Another thing we love about summer – popsicles! We buy them in bulk at Costco, but it’s also fun to make our own in Zoku’s popsicle molds. Super easy to use and they work like a charm. For the ones pictured, I blended up a strawberry banana smoothie and poured it in the molds – but you can use any juice, fruit, or smoothie combo. Even plain water with fresh fruit frozen inside is a welcome treat on a hot day!

Great summer far! I love those floats, and the new zoku pop maker!

Our oldest is on swim team this year too! Did you end up getting an above ground pool? It would be amazing to have a backyard pool but we don’t have the space bc our yard is hilly. :) Enjoy!

Hi Julie! We have an in-ground pool and swim almost every single day (even on swim team practice days!). Such a fun activity for hot days. It’s been in the 100’s here. Yikes.
