Shade Clothing: perfect for any kind of weather

October 30, 2009 By Stephanie

My 3-year-old and I both enjoy cloudy, rainy days. She calls them “shady days.”

Inevitably, we will don our boots and head out into the weather (provided it’s not pouring). The baby will be on my back and my 3-year-old will run up ahead, overjoyed by the sparkling droplets and the billowing clouds. It’s refreshing, really…and good for my soul.

I could go for another “shady day.” I can’t complain a bit though. Today, it was in the 60s and sunny – just about perfect, if you ask me.

I took the opportunity to put on a few new tops that Shade Clothing sent me for review.

First, the 3/4 Sleeve V-Neck Cardigan (on-sale for $27.99):

Clearly, I’m all about the oranges lately. I love that deep pumpkin color – so perfect for fall! I wasn’t sure if this cut would “work” on my body type, but – now that I see the pictures – I like it.

Up next, the V-Neck Placket Top (also on-sale for $27.99):

I am always a fan of navy blue – it’s such a classic, true color. You really can’t go wrong with it. The military pockets, zip-up front, and banded bottom make this top immediately stand out from the pack. I do wish that the zipper went down just a tad bit further so that I could nurse in this top without having to lift from that bottom, but that is a minor complaint. Overall, it’s a great casual piece.

P.S. You’ve gotta watch the Shade Clothing staff dancing to “Thriller” at a recent Halloween party. It’s awesome and I so want to dance along. In fact, next time that I’m in a big group, I may play the song and invite everyone to dance along. Friends, this is your advance notice.

I like navy, too. It’s a good color for me. We’ve had a bunch of shady days, but now we have sun!

I’ve been wanting this top since I first saw it released, I love it! That type of waste band is my favorite to cover my mommy belly!

I love this top & your pictures turned out great. Thought for a second your pictures were the promo pictures. I like Shade Clothing’s classiness. Their materials and cuts are neither busy or tacky. Thanks for sharing the video…so cool. I wonder how long it took them all to learn that and rehearse? :)

I haven’t ordered anything from Shade before but the clothing looks very nice. I wish they had more dresses though!

I’ve never heard of this company, but I am impressed by the variety of cute clothing. After perusing the site, I already have several items I would love to own! Just not sure our budget would agree ;-)

Very cute clothes. I’ve heard the name Shade a few times lately and I agree that they have stylish and comfortable-looking items. I like that pumpkin color for fall too, it just blends into nature so well this time of year.

Shade clothing looks really cute. I haven’t gone and bought any post pregnancy clothes yet. This would be a very nice way to kick start my wardrobe and help to remind me that I am no longer pregnant.

That is a great shirt, I like how it flows… I love stylish clothing but they MUST be comfy. I work as a receptionist in a mechanics shop… I need nice, but comfy… I am currently wearing flip flops… yes… flip flops!

I love the orange color this season too. I kept seeing it when I’m out, and finally broke down and bought a pumpkin-colored sweater. And I adore it! Shade carries such a wonderful selection!

I wanted to tell you the other day that this v-neck placket top looked really cute on you. I cant remember where we were, but anyway it was cute.

I love the modestness, is that such a word? The modestness that shade clothing have. The shirts come down nicely around the hips, not above the hips. The scoop necks dont go… “scoooooop” neck into the clevage. It goes to say, I really like the V-Neck Placket Top:)

I have never tried this clothing line, overall I like it. I like the navy colored one.

I never have tried the shade clothing line before but the top looks great and I love the layered look. I also like the longer in length tops!!!

I really like that first top, it looks great on you.

Between my daughter pulling on my neckline and my cats accidentally putting a claw through the bottom of a top my clothes take a beating.

I really love a 3/4 sleeve on any top because it covers your arms, but keeps the sleeve out of messes (and the dishwater), so I think it makes a top truly versatile. Thanks for the chance to win the v-neck placket top, I do agree with you about a slightly longer zipper, but it looks like a great top for an wardrobe!
My FAV top style is a v-neck, 3/4 sleeve, tee shirt….I think it combines all the most comfortable and flattering features that a top could have.

How cute is that shirt! It looks like it’d work well as a layering piece for fall. I’m trying to update my wardrobe, and it feels like the clothing this season is just not what I’m looking for.

I love Shade Clothing. I wore a lot of their shirts through pregnancy. They were my favorite–stretchy, soft and flattering. I’m ready for some post-baby wardrobe additions, though.

  29. Sara says

    October 31, 2009 at 10:10 pm

That shirt is pretty cute! Except I have a hard time wearing navy blues (on top) because I wear jeans (dark blue) so often!

I love Shade and having been watching a few pieces from their fall collection and trying to decide if they work for my nursing wardrobe!

We’ve had a few “shady” days around here as well. Not quite in the 60’s, but not too cold. Just right for soup and hot chocolate!

I love the V-Neck Placket Top, that is my color too! I love it when I find new and affordable online clothing stores (not good news to the hubby though, tehe!) I love their maternity line, reason enough to get pregnant all over again!

  36. Becca says

    October 31, 2009 at 2:32 pm

I checked out the website and I like that most of their pieces are classic things with just a little change. I always like it when I can find something that is basically a plain t shirt but has a little extra.

  37. Cindy says

    October 31, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Shades…I have never heard of it. It looks like cute clothes. I am wearing an orange color right now!!

  38. Sara says

    October 31, 2009 at 2:15 pm

I am with you on the fall colors! I love the shade of pumpkin and navy is a great classic. The only trouble with navy is I have issues with wearing blue on top with blue jeans. I think it tends to make me look just like a big blueberry!

  39. Jen C. says

    October 31, 2009 at 12:26 pm

I’ve never even heard of Shade but their clothes look really nice! I love rainy days too. We have to walk to the bus stop every morning so rain or shine we go outside. :) I really need to invest in some rain boots for my daughter though. Her feet get soaked. I’ve been having her wear her crocs with no socks but it’s starting to get colder now. It’s tough to keep my son (who has to go to school) from getting soaked from the puddles too! I’ve made a compromise with him that he can get as wet and muddy as he wants on the walk home in the afternoon. :)

Those are cute! I’ve never heard of Shade before. Honestly, I’ve never heard of a lot of places before…I pretty much never go shopping unless I really really need something or I get gift certificates for Christmas. I’m a little desperate for cute, fashionable clothing right now.

pieces! I love the dark pumpkin color, also! It is definitely a great color for wearing this time of year. The shade does look good with your hair color.

I would love to try this, I really need new clothes after baby #4. I LOVE your style Stephanie, which is saying something because I have the worst time finding clothes that are both attractive and modest.
