Thanks to Jillian Michaels and the 30-day Shred, my almost-three-year-old daughter can now:
And she uses all of that terminology too.
It is pretty much the cutest thing ever.
That is one of the many reasons that I choose - sometimes quite reluctantly - to make exercise a regular part of my life. Because I want my girls to see that it matters, that disciplining your body often helps you to discipline other areas of your life as well.
That is what this weekend is all about. Getting fit. Inspiring each other. Sharing our best exercise tips. Stay tuned for ideas, product reviews, and giveaways.
what about you? how pleased are you with the results? or is that an upcoming blog post topic?
You're so right... I want our son to see us exercising and love it. I love it too, when doing it, or when it seems easy (which is after it becomes routine). It's just the initial starting, getting it into your daily activities that's the hurdle.
I can't believe she uses the terminology too. She really is a super-cutie. You must be proud, mama.
I don't think kids are ever too young to learn great habits for living & learning. I actually think it is easier on them if they grow up with healthy habits from the beginning.
I could certainly use some inspiration on that end. ;)
Kids absolutely do model what they see their parents doing! We've been doing a little better about getting out now we just need to do it while we're in too :) Jumping jacks, sit-ups (or crunches) and push-ups... here we come!
I could really use a lot of support and encouragement in this department!
Many thanks, Cindi
That's hilarious! My sister-in-law went to yoga classes before her daughter Erika could really talk and we delighted in getting Erika to show us her "yoga pose". She was happy to oblige.
Elizabeth does a pretty fantastic cobra pose. We took a few pictures of it this week at the cottage; but it will probably take a day or so to get them up (along with some hilarious "swimming" pictures). "Your baby is too little to go swimming. She'll get cold." said one busy-body. I smiled and nodded and let Elizabeth discover the joys of swimming in the lake anyway since I agree that if being active is part of daily life she's more likely to grow up thinking this is normal!
So cute that she's using all of those terms. I think it's great to get them started learning this early to take care of themselves.
My best advice to all is don't try and change too much at once, especially if you are very innactive now. Ease into a fitness plan that fits into your life. Praise and reward yourself for the smallest of victories. Keep in tune with how you feel physically and emotionally; weight and inches are not the only way to measure success. Be well everyone!
that really is cute!! and you are right bout doing it yourself..coz most of what i do to this day has been learnt from my mom's doing it and me observing !! so it really is important!!
looking forward to this next week!!
i did the p90x and loved it. plan on doing it more in the coming months!!
i love aerobics too..but dont really have a stepper to do it..so it kinda sucks. i hear those things are expensive?...sigh.. :)
Looking forward to this weekend. :--) You giving away a personal trainer? lol
Nell
That's darling! My 6 year old will sometimes work out with me when I do my exercises. Love Jillian Micheals 30 day shred. Keeps me going and motivated!
thanks for visiting my blog. Princess A loves to do push-ups too. It is so funny to watch her and her sister do the, though I must say they are getting much better.
I SO need inspiration. I have the hardest time motivating myself to get back in shape after baby. I am back to my pre-maternity weight, but my shape is different. There is a little too much flab around my middle and not enough muscle all over my body. Looking forward to reading your inspiring suggestions!
LOVE it! She is so cute! Analise works out with me too!
I tried doing DDR today with my 5 month old watching from her bumbo and my two year old bouncing on his own dance pad. He usually jumps around longer, but only lasted a few minutes this time. At least he let me dance 30 minutes or so before getting too bored of watching me.
I am sad I didn't order the Shred DVD when you first mentioned it because the price has now doubled on Amazon.
I soooo need this after the baby...I'll bookmark it to refresh once the little one comes! : )
Oh, good. I need it. And you're right; it is adorable. I love it when Taylor wants to exercise with the wii fit. We have a couple cute pictures of her doing yoga or strength exercises next to me. :)
Adorable! I love that she even knows all the terminology. :)
