Themed Weekend: Love, Marriage, Baby Carriage

February 13, 2009 By Stephanie

love marriage baby carriageRight now, I’m sitting on my couch. With a sniffly nose. A blanket wrapped around me. And a cup of hot Peach Tea.

My handsome and heroic husband woke up this morning and decided to take our 2-year-old to the park so that I can rest up and get over this cold (Did you know pregnant women are more likely to get colds than their non-pregnant counterparts?).

Right now, he’s probably pushing our daughter on the swing as she laughs aloud and begs to be pushed “extra SUPER high.” She’s all about danger and adventure. Our little fearless beauty.

This weekend, the theme is “Love, Marriage, Baby Carriage” here at Metropolitan Mama. There will be product reviews, tips, and giveaways related to love and marriage…post-baby.

Having a baby (or two or three or four or more…) changes a lot of things. It requires additional sacrifices, harder work, more laughter, more patience…across the board…including in our marriages.

This weekend is as much for me as it is for you. One of my most important life goals is to be a wonderful wife for my husband. So that’s what I’m going to be focusing on this weekend. Want to join me?

My immune system crashes when I’m pregnant. With my last birth, two weeks before the baby came I got the worst chest and head cold of my life and viral pink eye in BOTH eyes!

Sorry about those sniffles. They are extra rotten when pregnant.

Sorry to hear you’re sniffing. I hope you’re feeling better soon. I’ve got a super clogged nose as well, not pregnant though!

While I was pregnant with my first daughter I was the healthiest I had ever been – no colds all winter long. When number 2 came along I was not quite as lucky but close.

Last year me and the honey were sick with something serious on Valentine’s Day and I was pregnant…so that explains it huh? I hope you feel better!

I think your immune system is waning to make the baby healthier. Hopefully it will pass soon!

Bob and Roo went on a trip so I’m playing single mom with Jasper this weekend so this themed weekend will be wistful for me…

Sounds like a fun theme. I’m feeling your pain with a miserable cold myself. Colds are never any fun, but seem especially yucky when added on top of the normal aches, pains & discomforts of late pregnancy. Keep chugging that tea, and hope you’re better soon!

What a great theme. Kids to make it harder to keep focused on your relationship with your husband. Kids also give you another reason to love and admire your husband. I truly love to watch my husband as he interacts with our childred. The relationship he has with them makes me love him even more!

We discussed how hard this balance is to maintain at my MOPS group on Wednesday! I am the first to admit that I struggle with keeping my part of the marriage fires burning since having my son. So, I’ll be looking forward to your insight! Hope you are feeling much better soon!
