Father’s Day Gift Guide: Photofiddle

June 10, 2008 By Stephanie

Father's Day Gift Guide: Photofiddle 1Photofiddle has been featured in the New York Times, USA Today, the Washington Post, and on Oprah’s O List…and I am not surprised. AT ALL.

This company is going places and this concept is one that is destined to to make its way into living rooms and bedrooms across the country. Here’s how it works: “Photofiddle allows you to create art from photos…Photofiddle will transform any picture into art with over 50 art styles to choose from.”

It’s easy! All you have to do is:

  1. Upload your photo – any photo (of your newborn baby, your kids playing in the yard, your kindergartner’s first day of school, etc.).
  2. Select an art “style” – watercolor, modern art, pencil sketches, oil painting, film strip photo collages, etc.
  3. Choose your display preference – stretched on canvas, framed, or as a poster.
  4. Click “order” and wait anxiously for your artwork to arrive.

Father's Day Gift Guide: Photofiddle 2When my canvas arrived, I opened the box and “oohed” and “ahhhed” at the exquisiteness of the details and the delight of having such a sweet memory immortalized forever. The quality is excellent and the picture just made my heart leap (and still does every time I walk in my daughter’s room!). I am now officially saving my pennies because I want a HUGE canvas portrait of our little family for the living room.

You know who else would really love this? Dad! Really! These pieces of artwork are so professional and eye-catching that he would proudly display one of you and/or his sweet kids in his office…and all of his co-workers would be absolutely stunned. Oh, how the compliments would fly!

Check out photofiddle.com. This is one company I am REALLY excited about.

Father's Day Gift Guide: Photofiddle 3WIN IT! One winner will receive a 12″ x 18″ (or 18″ x 12″) photo stretched on canvas from photofiddle.com. To enter, leave a comment on this post prior to Tuesday, June 17 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winner is #154 Aimee. Congratulations!

My hubby is one of those Tough Guy but Super Sentimental types! All he wanted for our anniversary is a formal portrait from our wedding, but I know the perfect photo to go with it–an informal snap of the four of us (hubby, me, and his two children) laughing like maniacs while we hug on the floor of the church, still decked out in our wedding finery. It makes me smile every time I see that photo–so happy, so hopeful, and the beginning of a new family!

I am impressed. I had always seen those kits where you send your photo in for them to make a paint-by-numbers project for you, but really, I’m lazy and I just want it done for me. This sounds like my kind of photo shop. :-)

I believe this will be the first step in the right direction to devoting a section of my house into a shrine for my swimming pool. Yes, I shall blow up the picture of my pool, and give offerings of chlorine tablets and Bud Light each rainy day in hopes that the clouds will dissipate and I can worship my pool in the proper way!

  56. LeeAnn P says

    June 16, 2008 at 7:15 pm

I already know just the photo I would choose to be made into a work of art. This would be perfect because we just moved and I don’t have anything on the walls yet!

  57. Nelleke Maxwell says

    June 16, 2008 at 6:55 pm

I love doing photography but you can only hang so many pictures before your home starts looking like a photo album. This takes it one step further and actually makes pictures look like art. I am so excited. I am amazed no one thought of this before. The different styles are so cool. I already know what picture to choose. I have my two boys holding hands looking over a lake in their shorts from the back. It would be so cool to take that picture the extra step. Especially since we have just redone our bedroom and were looking for art.

This really is fabulous! What a great idea for a contest/giveaway, but one of those companies and sites I had to take note of just in case as I absolutely can’t let them slip by! What a wonderful place to have available to take the simple but fabulous and perfect snapshot you got lucky enough to capture and have them immotalize it into something even more breath taking and special? Just so lovely for gift giving, for preserving a special time, — for so many things. I can’t thank you enough for sharing about it!

My husband and I have two little dogs (our only “kids”). Last Christmas, I discovered Photofiddle and got him a large piece made from a picture of our oldest doggie…..he loved it, and it’s hanging in our living room now. (compliments galore, by the way). His birthday is in August, and I would love to be able to give him a piece of similar artwork made from a picture of our other dog. I know he would be absolutely thrilled!!

I can’t even begin to say how awesome it would be to own a portrait like this of our family. I am huge into pictures! I find fewer things more meaningful than pictures, they truly do capture the moment in time. My poor sons will some day be embarrassed by our “Portrait wall”. Oh well, they make me happy and they remind me of every stage in their little life……priceless. These are pricey so I have to stick with my “paper” portraits for now, but someday I’ll get one!

I feel very guilty because we have never had a professional picture of our toddler done, but we have taken over a thousand pictures of him since he was born. Having a pic like this would help my non professional photo taking guilt, LOL. I think it would also be an awesome gift for the grandparents!

That is so awesome, I’ve always thought it would be awesome to have a portrait done and that’s a perfect gift for a parent. I know which one of my baby pictures I’d use too.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a portrait painted of our children – or a family one. Sounds like this might be an affordable way to have that done.

I love Photofiddle! This company was featured on the Today Show over a month ago. It is a wonderful tool and you cannot beat the prices! I had posted about this as linked below with a picture.

A photoof your child stretched on canvas sounds so artsy. I like that it would have texture instesd of being a flat glossy photo. A definite heirloom!

K, I really want this one. Not that I don’t really want all of the stuff you give away, but this comes near the top (after the cruise, of course!). The two in your girly’s room are adorable and I want some too. I have a small jealousy issue with you ’cause of all the awesome stuff you get. Don’t worry, I’ll live, and I won’t covet too much. :) Thanks for giving some away!

wow, the stretched canvases look really nice. I might actually have to get a family portrait taken! I don’t think there has been a single picture taken of all of us since the day we became a four-person family. Sad, but true.

After moving into our new home, we finally got all the renovations done and now we are at the fun stage of accesorizing! Part of that includes his office wall art and this would be lovely for a canvas painting of his long gone mom and dad.

I searched and searched for just the right fireplace art and I do love it but I wish I had known about this!
Thanks again for another great giveaway and heads up!

I have several photos in mind for this kind of project and oh boy, the finished product on canvas would make an awesome gift – but I don’t think I could bear to part with it!

I have a favorite photo from our wedding that I would love to print on a canvas. It’s a close-up candid shot of us just after we’d kissed, and I think it shows the emotions of that day better than any of the “posed” photos.
