You've heard of Dance Dance Revolution, right? I love that game. Perhaps because I used to be a bit of a dancer back in the day. I took ballet for quite a few years (and even did the whole bloody-toes on pointe shoes thing...). In high school, I performed as one of the lead dancers in "Oklahoma," "My Fair Lady," and "Guys & Dolls." See? You learn something new about me all of the time...
Anyway, DDR is fun...BUT I'm not a big fan of the music and the scantily-clad dancers in the background (one of the reasons we don't have it in our home).
Well, I recently discovered that there is another option. Dance Praise by Digital Praise is a DDR-style game with inspirational music and a positive backdrop. It's pretty much the exact same game, but with a more family-friendly make-up.
You can choose between 52 songs and several different modes (Dance, Exercise, Arcade, etc.). There's even an extra-slow mode for young kids. It's a nice way for moms to squeeze in a little extra fitness while having fun at the same time!
You don't even need a gaming system to play. You just hook it up to your computer and start dancing. That is a positive thing for people who don't have a PS3, XBox, or Wii...but it's not such a good thing for people who do have those gaming systems. Hopefully, Digital Praise will expand their offerings to those other markets in the future.
My biggest critique of the game is that I wish it were more "competitive"...like a game. I'd like to be able to advance from level to level as I increase my dancin' skillz. And it would be fun to switch back-and-forth from player-to-player in tournament fashion.
Actually, maybe that wouldn't be such a good thing because Tim can seriously bust some moves on that dance pad.

I like how you can hook it up to your computer and start dancing so you don't need to have a gaming console to use it.
I don't even own any dance games at all. This would be a great goal starter for my weight loss as well!!! Thanks!
This looks like alot of fun my girls love to dance and this would be awesomw as a family time event
Love dancing and want to start exercising.. so this will be perfect...
That looks like a lot of fun. I am horrible at those in the arcade but they are so much fun!
Thanks for the great contest!

I want to get into shape. I love to dance. These dvds would be great.
I'm always on the hunt to add more exercise in my day and this sounds like a fun way to incorporate more activity.
I love the fact that this is family friendly and also that it has an extra slow mode for my little one. I know my family would enjoy this.
Oh, this looks just so fun! It would great to have a fun way to exercise.
This looks so fun! I tried DDR once and it was not a pretty sight..I'll probably have to use the extra-slow mode!
My kids have been wanting this so i'd love to win! My husband is looking for ways to lose weight so I think this would be perfect for everyone :)
I love listening to inspirational music and also need exercise, so this seems like a great combination.
how fun!! it would be great to win it.
Sounds great fun to have it at home
This would be an excellent way for our whole family to get involved while exercising. Awesome!
Sounds like a fun activity for us.
As a Christian who needs to lose weight after I have this baby, this would be a wonderful product to have.

this would help bring our family a little closer, i can see us all having a blast with this game
This looks like so much fun, I would love to play this with my family, thanks!
this looks like an awesome fun way to get fit.
Not only would I love to have this to get me motivated to exercise, I think it would make a great fun family night!
this looks fun i hate exercising but this looks like the way to do it.i made a new years resolution to lose 20 lbs and this would be the way to go :)
My whole family would love this, I can picture my daughter trying to do it lol! It would be so fun!
Thanks for the chance!
sounds like something the whole family will enjoy, i can't wait to try it out
This looks like so much fun! I love to dance!
My daughter has a DDR. She's 17 so I'm not as picky about the background, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it for younger players. I think this system is a great idea.
Sounds like fun and very unique. Would definitely love to try it out!
this looks like a lot of fun! my kids would love to do it too! thanks!
This would be nice to have to do do aerobics. I currently ride a stationary bike mostly for aerobics. It would be a change of pace
I really like this idea. I have wanted to play DDR, but like you don't like the music choices.
i need a fun way to exercis this might help
I have been wanting something like this for my excercise routine..but yes I was apprehensive about DDR as well due to us having small children, this would be perfect for our family!!
I'm not much of a dancer or exerciser for that matter. This looks fun though & would get me off my butt! =D
This looks like so much fun. I love seeing more family friendly games with a God centered theme.
This looks like it would be a really fun family acitivity.
This looks so fun.
this is brilliant! my 2yo is pretty enamored with the other similarly styled dance pad games, but i am SO INTENTIONAL about what kind of music she's exposed to! this is the perfect solution! i love the idea of having so much fun, getting some exercise together and praising God too!!
I want/need some fun way to get more exercise, looks like just the thing!
what better than to get fit while learning some dance skills. sounds & looks like alot of fun
This looks like so much fun - we love to dance.
This is AWESOME! I've been waiting for something like this! Thank you for sharing something I've been looking for for a long time! I also like that you don't have to have a specific game system to play!
Looks like the whole family is enjoying it! Lots of fun. Thanks for the great contest!
I love the Dance Dance Revolution game. I do not own one but have played at friends house. I also love Praise music so this would be perfect for me since I don't have a game console. What an awesome game!
This looks like it would be fun for me and my boys.

We have a cheaper DDR game, this one looks cool.
Thanks for the review, I'd never heard of that game/company. We don't have any of the gaming machines, I'm scared that once we get one, it's all we'll do (or my husband will do). I should have a bit more faith, but I also hear of friends dinner parties that turn into Wii contests. I'm not ready. But this sounds like a good system to test the waters!
This is wonderful. I love ddr so I'd love to give this a try with the kids
The dance mat would be a great way for me to exercise while having fun with my kids.
my boy is such a music lover, he would love this :0)
This is cool and more affordable than a wii
I have to say, I've never played any of the DDR games, but would be willing to give this game a try. Honestly though, I never even heard of this game before seeing your review for it though.
WOw looks like you guys were having tons of fun!!
i think its something i would enjoy
This sounds like a great product!! I love that it has an extra slow mode for the kids, so my 5 year old and 7 year old ungraceful boys could use it too. I would so use it - I always enjoy my workouts when there's dance moves involved and not just walking!!! Thanks for the chance!
ohhh, my friend has one of these and we had a BLAST on it! I was so uncoordinated, so it would be great to practice a bit and then dazzle her with my mad skills!
This looks like a fun way to get fit.
This sounds like so much fun. We could do it as a family.
Would love to win this!!
How fun! I've been looking for a family-friendly dance activity. My 5 year old loves to dance and I bet he'd love this!
This is the answer to our happy feet. Please accept my entry. Thank you.
I really like this - especially that you don't need a gaming system to use it! Also it's great that it's more "family friendly" with the graphics than DDR.
My girlfriend and I have been looking for a dance program like this and had many of the same dislikes that you stated. This looks to be just what we were looking for.
I would love this-as would my 5 year old daughter! It sounds like something we would want to have in our home!
Anything that I can use as a weight-loss tool is a plus and since my family only listens to Christian radio, I know we would all love to dance it out to some great Praise music! This would be great!!!
I don't know how to dance! I am sure this would help me get over my insecurities about dancing and to stay in shape!
This is maybe the only thing that could get me to exercise: combining it with a video game
I am always looking for fun ways to stay in shape. Hard work is not my bag. I like you over all outlook on life. Got any pet advice?
I am always looking for fun ways to be active. Thanks for the chance.

DDR is awesome! When I used to live with my roommate, we had the game, but now that I live by myself we don't have it anymore :( This alternative to the game sounds way cool, because, you're right, the dancers are a bit much.
I LOVE DDR but you're right.....they are definitely not family appropriately dressed. I never paid much attention to it until my 4 yr old wanted to dance with me. Then I started looking at it through her eyes. This sounds like a great alternative!!
I never knew about Dance Praise. I am so glad I read your review. I wanted to try ddr, but the music with Dance Praise sounds much more me than the ddr stuff.
I would love to win this...but I would give it to my brother and his family. They rent a house and we live in an apartment...our downstairs neighbors already hate us when we don't stomp on the floor to a game!
That looks really cool. I bet it's something my mom and dad would love because they always have the youth groups at church come to their house for parties.
We had DDR for XBox but my son is trying to sell all his XBOX stuff so I no longer use it.
Dancing is such a great workout!
I have been looking for something like this for a while and was so excited to see this review and giveaway! This looks like a fun way to get back in shape and dance as well :)
This would keep the kids busy for hours. Great idea for indoor exercise.
This is such a great idea! I wish all manufacturers would figure out that scantily clad figures are not appealing to everyone.
I was in Oklahoma and Bye, Bye Birdie in high school. I was singing and not doing much dancing, although, I loved to choreograph my own dance routines for fun! This dance pad sounds like a good time for our whole family.
Thanks very much.....Cindi
I've heard about this and I think it sounds like a lot of fun. I'd prefer this music, too!
This is such a fun way to work off pounds.
This looks like so much fun. Can you add me to the list of the raffle?
I usually just sorta bounce around to music, waving my arms, etc. This would be a much better workout.
I think my family would have a lot of fun with this game- right now, I have to strategically plan when I work out because if the Wii balance board is involved, my 21 month old wants to stand on it with me. That's usually not very good for getting some real exercise in.
I know this doesn't require a wii, but my husband and I just got one for Christmas, and we have actually had a lot of fun playing games with each other (we usually only have time for one quick game of bowling or tennis before we have to get some chores done). This would be a lot of fun to play!
This looks like something my whole family would enjoy
I think this would be a great way to get in some exercise, and my daughter would love to do it with me.
Okay, I have to admit. I would love to win this for my husband. He loves to dance and we'd have so many laughs trying to follow along with the game. It would also get us up off of our rears!
I bought a dance pad geared for children. I gave it to my grand kids for Christmas one year. We have had a ball on it. Now I want one of my own. I found I did more exercising on that than any exercise video I owned.
I think my boyfriend would look like a big dork doing this... perfect! Plus it'd help me lose weight...
This could really help me lose my pregnancy weight. Thanks for the chance.
Thats awesome that it doesnt require a gaming system- something that is definitely not in our budget!
I have a couple friends who love Dance Praise...I've wanted to try it but haven't had the chance. They should try and sell it for the Wii.

WOW!! That looks fun!!
I have seen this in the christian book store and always wanted to try it. I think is wonderful to take something so "popular" and make it more family appropriate. I would love to win this.
This awesome dance game is exactly what I need to spice up my daily exercises!
This looks like a lot of fun. I am not coordinated in the least when it comes to dancing, but my daughter seems to have a great knack for it. I'll bet she'd really enjoy it! :)
This looks like a fun and unique way to exercise. Thanks for the chance to win, my weight is a big issue.
I would love to have this for myself and the kids. It would be fun to dance around and maybe lose some weight.
That's cool - I didn't know there was an easier mode for kids. My daughter would really like this and I know my wife has also expressed interest in one of these games, but the closest we could find to family-friendly for a major console was the Disney offering. This might actually help my kid learn some of the songs as well. :)
Thanks for the great review.
Let's get moving, I'll embarass myself as long as no one beyond the family witnesses the horror.
this could be a great family night fun or even better 'teens night out' and yours never left the house, great. thanks
What a fun way to get my heart-rate up AND involve my daughter!
this looks like fun and nonviolent to boot
This looks like something my granddaughters would love. I would try it but I'd probably look pathetic.
My daughter and I absolutely love to dance-a great form of exercise :)
Hey I danced with you in Oklahoma! I forgot about that. :) This looks fun and I know my big girl would LOVE to do it with me.
Ok, this looks really fun :) And I love the pic with the girls!
Oh, I would love this! We don't have a gaming system so it would be perfect for us! This is my favorite type of "video" game anyway! I think some friends have this and we played it once. I totally agree with your points about the regular DDR. Plus, I don't know many of the "popular" songs so I would probably know more of the Praise songs and be able to sing along too! Also, much better for little ears to hear! :)
My 60+ year old mother is obsessed with Wii and told me she wants Dance Dance Revolution for her next birthday. It's pretty funny but she's gotten all the grandkids into it as well. I would love to win this for her as her birthday is in March.
cool!!! i had no idea they had a praise songs one. i was just looking through the list of artists and there are some of my favorites like Rebecca St. James, Newsboys and Mark Schultz.
How fun is that?! My kids would fight me for it. :)
This sounds like it would be so much fun for the whole family! Thanks for the chance to win! :-)
I didn't know this existed - and you're right about the scantily clad inappropriateness of DDR. It sure is fun though!
OH MY GOSH!!! I LOVED DDR! My sister had it (lucky) and we did it all the time. And I have to say, it was a good workout. This is so fun. Wish I could come over for a "dance" party!!! :)
This is awesome. I am a big dancer too what a fun way to get in shape and have fun!! Thanks for the giveaway!! Thanks for the photos too. So cute to see you working out and having fun together!!
You are hilarious! Don't think I didn't catch that you wanted to advance from level to level as you increase your SKILLZ! Ha ha!
You and your husband are just totally adorable!
Nell
This is totally great.
As you know we are a relatively un-plugged family. BUT for Tyler's 40th birthday I got him a Wii. And we are all loving it. Crazy, but fun plus a little active play thrown in.
What a fun giveaway! I love to dance and I'm sure that my daughters would love to do this with me! :)
wow...now this looks like a fun way to exercise! this would've definitely been a better way to spend our once a week outings back in the day. remember when we used to try out different restaurants using the coupons in our Entertainment books? Fun times...
