Peek-A-Boo in a Book!

June 1, 2008 By Stephanie

Books are my “stand-by” when it comes to entertaining my daughter on the road or at home. I love pulling out a book and watching my daughter soak in the pictures and delight in the text. I especially am fond of books that are “interactive” in some way.

Peek-A-Boo in a Book! 1If you have a baby in the birth to 18 months age range, I bet he’ll love Where is Baby’s Belly Button? Written and illustrated by Karen Katz, the board book has cute and colorful pictures of babies with accompanying questions and “peek-a-boo” lift-the-flap pages. For example, the book will pose the question, “Where are baby’s eyes?” Lift a flap and reveal a happy baby’s eyes “under the hat.”

Asking questions is such a great teaching tool and the simplicity of this book makes it perfect for infants and older babies. Best of all, it’s a board book so babies can chew away to their heart’s content.

If your baby giggles and smiles and claps whenever you play peek-a-boo, this book will become a “favorite” very quickly. For $5.99, this book would be fantastic to add to your bookshelf or to give to a friend or coworker who recently had a baby.

WIN IT! There will be two winners. Each winner will receive a copy of Where is Baby’s Belly Button? by Karen Katz. To enter, simply leave a comment on this post prior to Sunday, June 8 at midnight (don’t forget to follow the rules). The winner will be announced and contacted on Monday, June 9. * Winner must provide a U.S. mailing address.

*UPDATE* The winners are #28 Shanda and #37 Jessica Cote. Congratulations!

My kids love the peek a boo books, of course there was a stage where my son ripped off all of the little flaps and things in every book that had them. That was kind of a pain but my handy husband used some fabulous orange scotch tape to quick fix them until we could replace them. We still have some nice orange taped books. It is fun.

She turns one in 2 months and I have no idea what to get her. Our first daughter hardly ever played with any of her toys but Ellie loves them, the two are like day and night though so I shouldn’t be too nervous about buying her toys she won’t like. This looks like it would be a big hit with her though.

This book was custom-made for my cherub, we are always asking where her or our eyes, ears, toes, nose, belly button etc are, she loves to show us! Although she sometimes jabs a little too vigorously at the different body parts, so ‘where are mommy’s eyes?’ doesn’t get asked that often . . .

I have always tried to instill a love of reading and books in my 2 1/2 year old daughter. It seems to be working. I want her to love to read as much as I do. With my 4 month old son getting a little older I’m already reading to him. Having a book that is interactive and will keep their attention is very important. This would be awesome to have!

My 14-month-old has a recent obsession with belly buttons. She loves pulling up on my shirt or her Dad’s to find our “bee bee”s. Thank goodness she hasn’t done this in public yet.

Oh how cute! My son loves peek-a-boo (very recently he finally *got* it! It used to just be a funny thing because mama made funny faces, but now he understands that I’m gone and then I’m back!) so this sounds great. We also like to play a similar game of our own, “Where’s…::fill in blank::…” and I point to his and point to mine.

    Thanks for another great giveaway!
